So I was reading the credits for the Dixie Chicks new album titled HOME and I noticed that Chris' name was mentioned. It turns out that Chris plays a few bars on 3 songs: A HOME, MORE LOVE, & LIL' JACK SLADE.
Bravo to Chris...it sounds great! [noise]

when I was listening to my new Dixie Chicks CD, I was instantly drawn to Lil' Jack Slade. Being a musician, the instrumentals always hit me at home. Before I even read who the musicians were, I said oh that is Chris! Everyone in the room thought I was crazy! But hey! I know my creekster's material when I hear it!!! :D:D:D

OK, my whole family is has to deal with my nickel creek obsession. Now, i've gotten my parents to become big fans (they are buying both the albums) but my sister is kinda annoyed with me. heh heh heh. Anywho, she got a copy of the Dixie Chicks album and heard the Lil Jack Slade song. I went up to her and she said Oh, there was this awesome mandolin part in this one song on the new Dixie Chicks...and i wanted to let you know that the Chris guy from nickel creek isn't all THAT good cause some guy was awesome on that song. I just looked at her and in a deadpan voice said That WAS Chris from Nickel Creek. Needless to say, she turned a bit red. Then she laughed and said Dang! And i thought i was gonna win this one!
HA!! I know my creek! ;)

u know...i never really noticed that...but it just so happens those were some of my favorites on off the dixie chicks cd...i doubt its a coincidence (bleh i cant spell).
I'm pretty ashamed i didnt realize it was Chris playing the mandelin...but then again...i havent listened to the dixie chicks cd as much as i would like...it's taken a back seat to this side and yourself or something like you (iv'e had matchbox 20s other cd- mad season for a while and just got that one)...but yea, i went back and listened again now that you guys pointed it out!
Adds a wonderful touch.

Greetings everyone! I'm new to this site but I've always loved Nickel Creek. I wasn't very surprised when i saw that Chris was on the Dixie Chicks album(which i just bought & its great!) because when i listened to Lil' Jack Slade i thought the mandolin piece sounded familiar. By the way what do y'all think of their(Dixie Chicks) song Godspeed? [think] What are your favorite songs on This Side? i think mine would be either Green & Gray, House Carpenter, or Sabra Girl. i just love them all!!! :D i like to get to get to know you better so feel free to e-mail me. Can't wait to hear from you!

Hey Maegyn! Welcome to the boards! I love Godspeed, I just think it's beautiful. And I know everybody thinks Lil Jack Slade sounds so much like Chris but I first noticed A Home. The mandolin on that song so sounded like Chris to me and that's when I first read the book to see who it was. Maybe that's just me.
