yet another random thread.

now that this is established, and runnign a bit- i was hoping i could get some feedback form several of you who were on the yahoo boards.

How do you think this new board is handling the conservation, and what do you thing are strong points to the new software?
...and to those who liked the yahoo boards and wanted to stay there, is this board still not what you would like it to be, or
if you could change something about this boards, what would it be?

one concern was that havin the threads in this split style would be like going through a million lanes of traffic- with the added strings, it would be more confusing.

let me know- the more feedback we get, the better idea we get on how to make things better for you guys.

I was afraid I wouldn't like the new message board at first because it would be too confusing, but now I really like it. The conversations are so much easier to follow and the posts seem to have really increased. I think the new site is a much better forum than the old yahoo club. I really like the information it provides, too. Great job Matt and the others involved.:)

at first I was kind of skeptical, but I've been finding myself visiting this site more than the other message board now. I think my only complaint is that after a certain amount of time, the amount of threads will become so large and it might look a bit convuluted and would make the page take longer to load. Could there be a way to archive older messages and threads elsewhere? Otherwise, it's a lot more organized!

hmmm
...

we could merge old threads, but that would make the disscusions and topics a bit confusing... or i could change the # of messages shown by default to a page.- i believe you can customize this in user cp- but would that solve the problem you were thinking of?

by the way i believe there is a defautl of 50 threads per page- look at some of the largewr posts [liek the any musicians here] and see how it carried over to a second page once there were a lto of posts.

i just looked- what you can do is at the bottom is says display threads from last... 30 days, 10 days, 2 days, etc. set that to a smaller number, then fewert threads will load! if you want to read old threads- se the number to show all.

What I do is when I log in (which I'm usually automatically logged in), I click on view new posts, so then I don't have to scroll the whole list--just the ones I haven't read yet. That's so much cooler than the old site because I would get posts sent to my email and read them, but sometimes that didn't work, so after a few days I would go check the club messages and see I hadn't received some of the posts and I would go back and start reading through them and some of them I had read and some of them I hadn't and I couldn't figure out who was talking to whom, etc. etc. etc. I'm not a big computer person, so I don't know a lot about the loading of the page and stuff, but as far as how many posts are listed per page, I usually just have around ten or so because it only lists the ones I haven't read. I like it! :)

i changed a setting, so that new messages will be at the top instead of the bottom of the thread, if you guys don't like this- it is easy to go back to the way it was.

When I first got on this morning, I started reading and then realized the messages were going the opposite way, so I had to scroll and find the last one I read and then move back up. I actually like the old way better I think, but I'm not that picky if others like it this way.
