First of all, my first experience seeing Nickel Creek live was on Amy Grant and Vince Gill's Christmas tour last December.....
saying that ...here is my:
DAYTON CONCERT PICS AND REVIEW
I got a call during my last class (I teach hs math) that I was part of the meet n greet list. I was torn because the friend I was taking was a big fan and I offered her the pass (even though in my heart I wanted to meet Amy badly!
Well, this has to be the Lord's work....
No one at the will-call window knew anything about the street team passes. After checking several times I decided to go downstairs and try to find someone.
I got to the door to the room where Amy was and talked to someone....who went to check on the pass for me....She came back and kinda shrugged and just said, OK, go on in.. SOOOOO we BOTH just walked in and got in line!!
Fernando Ortega was already performing as we took our seats (Front Row! He has a terrific sound and chatted with the crowd some too.
Amy came on at about 8:35 and it was 10:40 or so when she finally left the stage after singing with the children's choir you see in the last few pics! Rarely have I seen a star do over 2 hours!!
We even got a visit from daughters Sarah and little Corrina!! Corrina stood and blew kisses to her daddy (Vince Gill) and the band members. She danced and had a great time.
I love Amy's stories....she told us she gave Corrina her cell phone to play with when she was up last night at 5 AM.....it turns out she called at least one of Amy's friends on the speed dial.......so cute..
One humorous moment was at the end of My Father's Eyes she played a wrong chord.....Amy gracefully joked it off and while introducing the band, she mentioned she knew back-up singer (Kim?) since 1974.....which got a big reaction from Kim since she meant 1994!!
Many very precious memories.....praise the Lord for arranging it so both of us got to experience the warmth and friendliness of meeting her...
