WOW! Last nite was my 1st time, ever, to see Nickel Creek live, and in person.....and it was beyond awesome! Here's how it went down :) ......

My friend and I left drove 6 hr.s from our little TX town and after all of the shuttle catching, and parking, and getting in...we were in the ACLMF gates by around 2:00. When we arrived, Asleep At the Wheel was doing their set, then we saw Eye's Adrift, Gillian, The New Deal....(here's where it gets good) and Wilco! I thought for sure that my best bet at a Nickel Creek encounter would be at the Wilco concert, and sure enough Chris showed up, in the VIP section! LOL...I was in the cheap seats, but 2 friends and I made our way to the VIP gate and spotted Chris (he looked over at us, we waved, and he gave us a rock on sign!!) it was great! 1/2 way through the Wilco set and grabbed his mando and started down stairs. What was amazing is that no-one else seemed to reconize him and before he left he saw us behind the gate with the book to his solo CD and actually came over, talked to us, and personally signed it for me. I asked him how the concert in Fort Worth went the nite before, and he said something like, umm...not so good. We sucked actually. :) LOL!! (why are incredible performers also so modest?) I thougt later that if that concert was 1/10 as awesome as what I had just seen then I would have given $100 to see it! Anywayz, after that, I was already feeling blessed! To have actually met CHRIS THILE and to get his solo signed was kewl enough, but there was still a concert in the future and I was there with 3 of my best friends! He shook our hands and headed off to get ready.
We got on the very front row of the concert, and they band put on an amazing concert! Including the kewlest version of the Fox I've ever heard (with new lyrics from Sara, and a Mario bros. breakdown!!!) I had also never seen Chris so excited!! LOL, he actually almost fell over a couple of times from being to stoked!!!
The band wasn't on the schedule for autographs but they did them anywayz! So I actually got to meet them all, got the debut album signed, Seans solo signed, and thanked Chris for signing my NAWWAL copy (even if it was with a Bic gel pen).
All in all.....this was a million times over the best concert of my life. The band was so down to earth, like they have always been. I thought, at best, I would get to see them.....but to actually have conversation with them, and meet them was incredible. We are soooo lucky to live in a period of time, which is really just a blink, in which we have the chance to expirience music and Christians musicians at their best. NICKEL CREEK FREAKIN' ROCKS!!

ACL Fest was a blast! It was my first time to see Nickel Creek. They did a great cover of a few verses of Drone by David (Dah-veed) Garza, who played the Austin Stage just before NC. That might be the new lyrics Brandon spoke of. I loved the super mario bros song too!

Sorry I'm replying so late, but I wanted to talk more about the Austin concert. It was one of my first real concerts and it was great! The whole Fox to Lithim to the Mario Bros. and everything else was great. Even my boyfriend liked it and he usually has something negative about everything. It was so wonderful, I was a little too short to see anything for a while, until I scooted more up front and was close enough to see them all. The encore was great! Any other input? We drove from San Antonio there. Yea!
