What kind of strings do you use?
I have been switching between GHS silk and steel and elixir strings recently. But I had to put a set of D'Addario strings because that is all the music stores in orlando had.
Do you use light or medium strings?
I usually use medium string because they give me a fuller sound than light strings. Plus you can get more volume without over playing the strings.
Does anyone know what strings chris uses?

Chris uses specifically the flat-top from D'Addario with gauges
39,24,15,and 11 with a wound A-string.

if you check chris' bio section of the site there is info on what mandolins he uses and strings and picks. i used to use d'addario j62 80/20 phosphor bronze strings (10, 14, 24,34) but now i use martin m450 80/20 bronze round wound acoustic strings (11,14,24, 38)

If you feel that your mandolin is steardy enough I highly recommend using John Pearse heavy mando string with an extra heavy pick. This allows you to play lightly with a huge sound. It also helps with the standard bluegrass chop. Keep on pickin!

I've been looking around for the set chris uses and I have some questions to anyone who has them. Is it this set FT74 Mandolin- Flat Top Phosphor Bronze. That is the only flat top set listed at the D'addario website, but it does not say if it has a wound A. I looked for a list of all the flat top gauges but it did not go down below 20 or so. Any insight anyone could lend would be appreciated.
