This is sad to say, but it's time to put your Sean/hobbit fantasies away. I asked Sean about it himself last Friday at a show. He offered these facts:
1. His feet are not big & hairy. He took off his shoes after the show & showed me.
2. The door to his house is not round.
3. He is not short enough to be a hobbit. He showed me the proper height of a hobbit & then compared it to his own. He is taller than a real hobbit.
He comforted me as I nearly cried because that knowledge totally ruined my future plans, of course..........but don't fear! He also offered this: Though he may not be a hobbit, Chris may very well be a giant elf....!

i am still holding to the belief that there is nothing wrong with human-hobbitism!!:D even if sean may not be physically a hobbit, he could still be one at heart!!!!!

ps i am just a little jealous bout the foot view meself, although i AM a bit worried bout my own sanity about admitting that!:p

AWWW...I want to see his feet. I'm sad that he's not a hobbit...but then again...I'm not...I really don't want him to have hairy feet. Ewww.
Just curious...but how much height difference is there between him and a hobbit? I still haven't gotten a definate answer on how tall Sean is. All I know is he's adorably short. :D

note-this is NOT just written to the person who made the hobbit update.
some of you may disagree with me on this. it is fun to play around and joke with each other on the message board but sometimes i think people step overboard....
did it ever occur to you that it might make sean uncomfortable to ask him to his face if he is a hobbit? you already know he is a bit timid. of course, he is going to give you an answer to avoid any more embarressment but don't you think it is a bit of an insult to pick on him and his height. even more, i just imagine what he said to his band mates when he got on the bus. they must think some fans are idiots. this hobbit thing has almost as bad of tastes as bart simpsons hot dog issue.
think about it....they play their hearts out for 2-3 hrs, then stick around to meet with fans. they don't have time for stupid and immature comments like that. wouldn't you rather spend the few minutes you have to talk with them, about how much you enjoy their music or how you admire them and their dedication?

actually talking with Chris and Sean, they don't really mind the off questions occasionally. Usually they get the serious questions like:
When are you going to play...
How long have you been playing?
What do you guys do in between shows?
etc.
Chris doesn't mind them for the most part as long as they aren't the super-weird questions. Anything dealing with thier personal lives (such as Chris' engagement), will change thier moods to more serious.
All in all, the three of them like staying relaxed and having a good time with fans.

I sure agree with sneak about dumb conversations! And I really don't think NC is being anything but trying to be polite when they get dumb questions.
My family and I went to see them in concert last month. We talked with Sean before it started and it was so cool! We talked about body boarding and his new cd. I can't imagine making him embarrassed or uncomfortable...he's sooo neat to talk to, and it isn't something I get to do every day! I think fans who ask dumb questions or try to get special attention by being dumb are very immature.
Just my opinion!

not trying to be 'immature' or anything sneak,. but um
HE SHOWED HER HIS FEET
I think he was ok with it, she wasn't being immature, and I doubt she was like
'hey sean you midget are you by any chancy a hobbit? everyone's dying to know just WHY you are so darn short!'
to avoid embarrassment, I would not talk off my shoes and show one my feet....I don't think she was trying to be rude, if you read about her conversation with him, he was playing around too, he isn't some dead serious person who's going to completely blow you off when you ask a question....
and I'm not trying to be mean, sneak, I agree that some things are dippy to ask another person, but, her question/conversation were not immature, she wasn't picking on him....
I disagree, sneak

Excuse me?I have talked to the band about their hard work and the dedication to fans and the music. I have been talking to them for years on this topic its called knowing the band since they were 12 years old! As for the hotdog question you might think its of bad taste but I dont. I brought excitement to this board. I am not an idiot or immature. Thank you very much.

AHHHHHH-you guys are killing me! Thanks for making me laugh-I am so stressed out and it helps :-) That is so funny Sean showed you his feet-what a fun guy! I can see why it would upset him though. Speaking of short guys... (not that Sean is that short-he's taller than me so he doesn;t seem so to me!)
I thought of Sean today because my friend told me about this thing 20/20 did where they had women meet guys who were pretty short for being guys and with guys who were average height or tall and the women KNEW some of teh tall guys had crappy persoanlitites and they still chose them over the short guys. THAT'S SICK AND WRONG! Whwat's wrong with people? I'd take a nice, short guy any day over some tall jerk. Of course I am 5'3 so I proabbly don;t ahve a problem, but STILL!

hmmm, lets see....
HE SHOWED HER HIS FEET AFTER SHE ASKED HIM IF HE WAS A HOBBIT!!! what was he suppose to do, be rude and ignore her or ask her not to ask a question like that. or maybe sayno! what kind of question is that? leave me alone. they have a reputation to keep up and with a lot of people around them he can;t very well be unfriendly about the subject.
and bart, if the hot dog thing was so exciting then why did sean get upset when someone asked sara if she were a hot dog would she eat herself. boy-thats real excitement, sounds more like trouble to me. i read the boards..i remembered what happened. i believe you were also the one who mentioned something about a stick being up someones butt.....but hey, you are a mature NC fan, right?

I don't want to continue on this arguement, but I have to point out that if you have read the reply by Bart (up a couple) you would have read that he has been friends with the three of them for years.
They may not have been the best taste ( I am neither for nor against either question), but the fact is that they have already been asked and the band has answered politely. So why don't we drop the subject before people start making personal comments about other members. If you would like to make a comment to a specific person about this topic, please do so in a Private Message.

YO MAMA!!!
while i can appreciate about not trying to be intrusive into their personal lives and not asking utterly idiotic questions with the intent for an usual response. i don't find her tone (from the best i can tell) to be demeaning in any way. and as seen by show reviews of many here...they...especially sean doesn't seem to have a problem with speaking his dislike or his mind on something...such as an unruly member of the audience. plus, she didn't really expect him to show her his feet...so..its not like he had to...apparently....he went above and beyond..and just i have a hard time believing he would do THAT just cuz a fan asked a question are you a hobbit? as opposed to just saying no or yes or..brushing it off...i guess the best source for the answer would be sean himself but i'm pretty sure he is a little busy. but maybe..(yeah right)...i know there are many here personally connected w/the band....maybe they could offer us some insight as to how inappropriate this and that is. and if that would bother them or not. as for bart, while the question could be seen as ummm...yeah...peculiar and maybe offensive (not to me) danny (bart) has known them for awhile...as he already said...so this isn't just any ole fan...its someone they know and are probably use to his antics....hopefully....
and thx 20/20...its about time someone shed light on some of the discrimination that exists....(i'm short too)...its funny no one ever mentions how tall chris is..or...how dark so and so's hair is or their skin..etc....(yes, i'm on my soap box here...not b/c of my height either..its just a phrase..!!! lol) do ppl really expect their dreams guys to be tall, dark, and handsome ? I hope not....(So you're telling me there's a chance!!!!!).
K, i'm done here...i just got the resounding feeling from reading some of these posts of BITE ME! OH PLEASE!. Of course, i'm not going to say which ones..and the yo mama is just meant as a joke and before anyone gets all their panites in a wad...get over the fact that i don't have some of this posted under off topic or the whatever correct heading....have a good day everyone...

Greetings fellow fans,
I love to scope the recent posts and learn what other fans think about the latest nickel creek news. I have been following this little exchange, and think it necessary to share my views. I would consider myself what some of you like to refer to as a mature fan. And I think it a mature conclusion that the members of this band are real people too. They do not use their fame as a way to dodge the occasional fun question that allows them to perhaps have a laugh and share a moment with a fan. I have met them several times, the last only about a month ago. I've always admired their love for their fans, and ease of real conversation. We are all fans in our own way. And the way we deal with the excitement of meeting such genuinely talented people has a lot to do with our age, maturity level, etc. So lets share our experiences, and not judge or criticize. And I must say, I think the Hobbit reference is actually quite amuzing and cute. I'm sure Sean enjoyed it!

I just wanted to let Goose_17 and all the rest of the short guys out there :-) knowthat you DO have a chance with girls who are not shallow, so don't worry! I mean, it's like me saying a guy will never ask me out because I don't have a big chest, blonde hair and dress like Britney Spears-and if that's the case, then I'll remain single for the rest of my life.
(oh and thanks MAtt for regulating :-))

wheewwww!! does anyone else think what this forum needs is a big cleansing breath?
chris,
don't worry, not all girls think that men need to be tall, dark, and handsome. as far as i am conserned, we like 'em in all shapes and sizes;) in fact, just to prove that not all what women want stereotypes are true.....i know this guy who is on the shorter side, balding, and has a little beer belly. my friends and i are not exactly sure why, but we all think he is really sexy.:D there is something about that little belly......hahaha. seriously though, what's short? all that matters is that you have that little spark of individuality and the girls will come a runnin'!
good luck!;)

I,personally, find a short man to be extremely sexy..partly because I'm short too! It's nice having a guy that's around my height, not 6 feet tall.

I think that the dude who played Frodo in LOTR (elijah wood?) I don't even know his name...looked weird in LOTR but looked really cute in The Faculty.....just my opinion, anybody out there love Josh Hartnett?

[eek!!] ELIJAH WOOD IS HOT!!!!!!!!! his eyes are just so amazing, they totally POP out at you. he only looked weird in the scenes where they were digitally fixing his size so he would look that small next to everyone else. and josh hartnett is okay looking i guess, i just always want him to OPEN his eyes, you know? hehehe, i guess eyes are important to me:o

Back when this forum was first started, I was constantly on it, look for news, views, and musical advice etc...since then, I have started to dislike the happenings on this board. Subjects are getting stupider and stupider.
One more post like this on the forum, and this fan will look elsewhere for Mature disscusion.
Be a good fan, don't waste posts on stupid topics please. By discussing such topics, no good-end is gained, and argument thrives.
Bottom line? If you don't have anything intellegent to say, don't say anything at all.

Guys I am really sorry to go back to the original theme of this thread, but I just have to share my feelings, and if that means I'll get in trouble, then I'm sorry!
I completely agree with sneak's first post. I was at that concert and was standing right there when the hobbit question was asked. Sean did not seem happy. Actually, he kinda blew the question off. And I never saw the shoes come off <but true, i did leave shortly after the q was asked.> I think it was offensive to ask him that. And also, I didn't like being told that I treated Sean like a piece of meat after someone *else* asked Sean if he was a hobbit.
So I'm really sorry to cause more problems (which is hopefully what will NOT happen) but I feel that my opinion was important enough to me to be stated.
