I was listening to the radio this evening on my way home from school and country singer Shannon Lawson came on the radio. He has done a cover of the Marvin Gaye hit Let's Get it On Once the uncontrollable laughter died down a bit and I tried to listen to the song with a straight face I was thinking that the music wasn't so bad...and the mandolin pickin' in the background caught my ear. I remember thinking Wow, that guy plays as good as Chris. When I got home, I pulled the CD out of hididng for another spin (I had recieved it a couple of months ago as a promotional item through work but had never bothered to give it a listen...) As I was listening to the album and thumbing through the CD cover something caught my eye...Chris Thile appears courtesy of Sugar Hill Records I was surprised to see Chris plays on four of the eleven tracks on the album Shannon released recently Chase the Sun. Jerry Douglas and Ron Block also appear on the album. Just thought you might like to check it out...as for the cover of Let's Get it On...I have always been a hardcore believer that classic, original songs should remain in their original form...this song didn't do anything to change my mind, in fact it solidified my thoughts on the subject, though I am sure those that will disagree ;)
