View Full Version : What unrecorded songs have you heard NC perform?
OK, I think it would be fun to begin to collect a list of all of the tunes that Nickel Creek has performed that don't appear on any of their recordings.
Here's the list I've got so far... titles followed by composer. If anyone has corrected names and/or composers please chime in... and, of course, I'm sure there are dozens of other tunes, so scratch your head and post what you come up with.
This Side (Sean)
Ain't Misbehavin' (Waller/Brooks/Razaf)
Think About Your Troubles (Nilsson)
Green and Gray (Chris)
Peace with Distraction (Sean and David Puckett)
Windmills (Glen Phillips and Toad)
Michael (aka Sleep?) (Chris)
The Great Illusion (aka The Matrix Song), (aka Seven Wonders) (Sean and David Puckett)

Actually I found out on the Glen list that its called La Lune, I misinterpreted it too! It's a song done by the Woodburning Project and is going to be on that Glen/NC cd, whenever and if ever that will come out! I find it interesting because the song lyrics are sooo depressing yet beautiful if you actually read them.
I am in a rush but this is a cool thread, I will think hard about other songs not posted yet. I hope a lot of them make the new album, they're all so wonderful!

Ok, I'm back and it seems like everybody else gots all the songs covered that I have heard from NC. I'm not sure if these count, but here are a few that I have heard Nickel Creek play with Glen
--
Sake of the World - (glen phillips)
Dam Would Break - (Toad) excellent song and even better with mandolin instead of the guitars playing!
Something's Always Wrong - (Toad) I heard this played once, it was so cool how they jammed at the end of the song!
Comes a Time - (Glen)
If anybody has a recording of the Glen Phillips concert from 5/12/01, then they know what I'm talking about, most of these came from that show when NC and Glen played separate shows at different times in the same city! Glen went to NC's earlier show and when NC was done, they came to Glen's late show and ended the night jamming with him!

the Glen Phillips/Nickel Creek CD Mutual Admiration Society lands at stores in April on Sugar Hill Records
it was recorded in 2000 by Glen Phillips and Sandy Chila at Glen's ED studio in California
also, the song Comes A Time is a toad tune, I saw it listed above as a solo Glen tune, the song was recorded for both their 1994 Dulcinea CD and their 1997 Coil album but never made the final cut
Glen posted the 1996 Studio toad outtake on his site a year or so ago.........awesome song, he's been doing it at their shows since 1992......nice to finally have it out in studio form
sake of the world is phillips/brion, co-written by the awesome singer/songwriter/producer Jon Brion

Hey, I was there too! Did you stay after the show? It was really cool because I did and almost nobody else really did! Chris kept mentioning that it was an odd show because no one requested The Fox for once and for once they didn't play it!
Oh yeah, and I forgot about comes a time being a Toad song, whoops! are we sure the cd's coming out in April? Isn't the new NC cd slated for around then if they finish recoding it quick enough?

Hey, maybe I saw you and even said hi myself! I was also surprised and couldn't believe I got to chat with Glen too, it was hard to restrain myself from telling him how much I love his and Toad's music SO much. And he's a really humble person to talk to also
