Hey there! I may be just too observant all around for even noticing this, but did anyone else notice that on the most recent Jay Leno performance, in about the last stanza (not really sure when, near the end. I haven't watched my recording of it in a while) of This Side Sara takes off her shoes? They aren't her flip flops of those slides, they're high heeled trendy shoes that look like they hurt. I think she was trying to do the Sara Stomp and they just got in her way, so she takes them off. Its pretty funny. Just goes to show you, flips are the best, especially if you're Sara Watkins! And then there's the part where Jay bumps into Sean...

Dittos to Sarah. Casey...do a search for Tonight Show.
And about The Sara Stomp, nice!! I, myself, refer to it as Sara's Cute Little Stage Dance. Another good one would be The Sara Shuffle, or The Sara Flip-Flop Hop. Yeah...that one's right up there w/ The Twist and The Mash-Potata!!

Myself, I see no point in ANY kind of shoes at all!!!! I live in Boston MA, in the middle of teh city and I walk around barefoot all the time. (Get you some weird looks, that......:D) However, if I have to choose........Teavas all the way!, although flips rank a close second.
(Hmm........funny how quickly these conversations drift away from Nickel Creek/music/etc.......)

if you like tevas and flips, NOTHING beats a chaco. IMHO.

I concur with Bob. Lifetime warranty and a single-piece-o-webbing per sandal make for a nice, long, comfortable wear.
Everyone try Chacos.

I got an e-mail from Sara...acctually, i got about 5 from her. She's my favorite creeker. But she quit e-mailing me a long time ago. I wonder if she doesn't like me anymore? I don't like not being liked! Especially by my heros![sob]

i've heard from various people that sara emails etc. (which is super nice)...so do you guys just leave a note on the website and she writes you back?
i talked to her very briefly after the atlanta show, and she lived up to her reputation for being very down to earth and friendly (even given the exhaustion she must have felt by the time she reached us...those of us behind the building later).
i felt like i had practically no time to ask things i would ask, even just basic questions for a person who's into a lot of the same things i am (and many listees i'm sure). it'd be neat to email her and actually think she read it and potentially wanted to shoot an email back :)
so what kind of things do you write her?

yeah...matt's right. thats pretty much how it works. you also need some luck that she'll email you back, though. I probably emailed her 15 times, and she only emailed me back only 5 times. you just have to email her at the right time, and have to have something to talk about, though.
And PLEASE keep in mind that all of the members of NC are *incredibly* busy... so for those of you who have emailed 5 or 15 or whatever times.... you're not going to strike up long, ongoing conversations... and what you *will* do is clog their inbox so that eventually they won't be able to respond at all.
The band is incredibly gracious in trying to maintain some sort of contact with the audience... it can sometimes be really draining to go out after a show and talk to fans, particularly if they're already tired or have had days of shows in a row... and then to look at an inbox with 100 or more messages in it... I'd just ask everyone to put themselves in the place of Sara, Sean and Chris before barraging them with emails or whatever. They really do try to be considerate fo their fans. Let's make sure we do the best we can to be considerate of them in return.

I also heard that the emails are screened and that only a select few make it to the band. Also, you have to remember that they don't always have time to sit down at a computer to write back. When they do get on, I'm sure that they would like to contact friends and family first to catch up on what's going on back home. I have (once in a blue moon) sent a note to kathy at the band's website to let her know about new stuff and to ask questions that I know that she can answer. When I do that sometimes (not often) I politely ask if she can tell the band hi for me whenever she gets a chance. I also understand that it may slip her mind and that the band may not respond back. But please DO NOT barrage her with emails asking her to tell the band something or to ask the band something, because (as she has even personally told me) that she doesn't get to talk to the band sometimes long stretches and that there are more important things for her to talk about with them than trying to get 1,000 fan questions answered.

Back to the flip flop thing I just wanted to say that I too wear flip flops all the time. When I met Sara we discussed flip flops and how they are truely the best foot wear ever. She is such a sweet heart!!

I found the best pair of flip-flops this summer, but I have to curl my toes a little to keep them on.
When I saw Sara in London in October, she was actually wearing proper shoes, well, trainers actually, they were black. But she moaned a little about them during the show and said she wished she's worn her flip-flops!

Sara wore brown dress shoes for the Columbia show. I was disappointed. I expected flops. Of course, it was freezing cold outside.

Yeah, But If you're like me, then you would be standing in the snow, wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts, sandals, sunscreen, and eating a chocolate ice cream with cold fudge and sprinkles. Haha...I'm cold-natured. Or weird, whatever you want to call it.
