Yes, yes indeed it's true. I know many of you are jealous and practically beside yourself, but yes, the one and only Chris Thile called me today. However, I must say that I missed his call. But, he left me the nicest, kindest voice mail. Of course you are wondering how did our dear Chris get my number...well, I am just lucky enough to have the coolest brother on the planet. You see, my oldest brother lives in Nashville and happened to see Chris in a record store. At first, my brother couldn't figure out why his face was so familar, but then it occured to him that this familar face was the face he saw back at home over Christmas on NC's album cover (I only made him listen to NC's album a dozen times or so :D ). Since my brother couldn't find anything for Chris to sign, he decided to go up to Chris and introduce himself. He then proceeds to tell him that I adore NC and would just die if Chris would give me a call. Sooooo, my brother gave him his cell phone that dialed straight to my phone. Unfortunately, I was in class, so I missed the call. However, I think if I would have been home, I am almost positive that I would have called him a liar and hung up on him. You don't get calls like this everyday!! Anyway, Chris wished me a very happy spring break and also told me to enjoy my time in New York City (I go to school here). That was nice because sometimes I forget how incredible this city really is.

All in all, I am still shocked. I have not managed to see NC in concert yet but after today, I promised myself I would. I can't wait to introduce myself to Chris. yeah, remember the guy who made you call his sister on his cell phone from Tower Records? Yes, well that stranger is me. Thank you!! You brightened my day!

So, to all you Chris Thile fans out there, READ THIS AND WEEP!!

:D

Well, I don't know if this compares to you guys....

After a NC concert, I went up to Chris as he was signing autographs, and waited till he was done. After which, I talked to him for a while. As we talked, he eventually asked if I wanted to try his mandolin....( : I was a pretty happy camper. So we went back to his trailer thingy, and he and Sean talked to me for a while. When he brought out his mandolin I was REALLY excited. He pulled it out and said when you're done with it, just stick it back in the case and walked off!! I couldn't believe he intrusted me with his MANDOLIN!

I'd say that more than one-ups anything else other than being asked to join the band.

What a great surprise waiting for you on your machine when you got home! Did you save it? How incredibly sweet of Chris to do that, and for your brother to even approach him for you.
That just confirms my belief that Nickel Creek are just about the kindest guys you'd ever meet.

I think its great that you got a phne call from Chris or whatever, but the read this and weep, and the nasty way you said it, was not cool. Just wanted to let you know.

Ah! I'm sooo jealous. What I would give to be in your place!!!!

Guys, I need something! You know how when people are obsessed with something they'll do anything to be more obsessed? Yeah, well, I try and beg but I have parents and I'm only almost 17 and without a license.

I'm melttiingg here. I think I might be able to do something though...

This doesn't compare to some of your stories, but I have two sons (5 & 7) who absolutely love NC. They happen to catch the video When you come back down on CMT and have been fans since. My oldest loves Chris. He begged me to buy him a mandolin and has been taking lessons for a few months now. He loves it. We went to Tennessee for vacation this year and found out that NC was playing at the Blue Plum festival in Johnson City. So my wife and I took the kids there to see them live (by the way, if you have never seen them live, DO IT! It was awesome). After the concert my oldest desperately wanted to meet Chris, but there was a huge crowd around him. He was sitting on my shoulders with his new NC t-shirt on just staring at Chris. Chris finally looked up at him and said hey, what are you doing back there? My son said Waiting for an autograph. Chris replied Well come here. My son made his way through the crowd to Chris. Chris signed his shirt, and got Sean and Sara to sign it also. They talked for a few minutes about how my son owned a mandolin and was learning to play. I asked Chris if I could get a picture of him with my boys. He asked the crowd to step back giving me a good shot, got down on one knee, arm around each one of my sons. That photo is framed in my sons' bedroom. An experience that he will never forget. I have attached a copy of the photo. Great musicians, greater people.

Frankly, that's the most touching story I've ever heard. My heart's smiling.

bfn What a great story. And your children are precious!

Thanks for sharing this with us....it confirms what we all know: SS&C are good, good people. And being well brought up doesn't hurt either! I can't picture them ever being snarky or rude or unkind to fans (...unless, of course, they don't feel well or it's been an excrutiating day or a fan is being tiresome...).

Thanks again for sharing.

you know what the funniest thing is... even with all these stories about what great people they are, it's still so hard to believe! i would love to meet them, but i'd probably have the hardest time trying to work up the courage to hang around after a concert, even knowing how generous they are to their fans, hehe.

Talk about shy! When I met Sean for the second time, my little brother was with me. Ya know, I'm trying to be cool and act like it's no big deal to meet Sean and that Im not a crazed fan...I'm all like, yeah, your band is pretty cool when i'm really thinking OMG IM MEETING SEAN WATKINS!! WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!! Well anyway, he's signing my CD and my brother all of a sudden goes She loves you SOO much. Once she said she wanted to marry you! And I was SOOOOO unbelievably embarassed!

And then when I met Chris the 2nd time, I was like You guys are so awesome and then started crying and my little brother (the same one who had embarassed me just minutes before) was likeOMG you are so dumb. And he walked on the other side of the road until I stopped crying! Geez...what a dork I am!

These are the greatest stories. When I got to meet the band, it was a blast. I went up to Sean first and he just started laughing at me because I was acting like it was a huge deal to sign my t-shirt. I was the only one there so I got to take up plenty of time with them. I was kind of begging him to sign it, and he siad it was no problem thorough his chuckels. LOL! Then the time came for Chris, I was so excited at that point that I could have jumped up a mile high! He was so kind and talked to me for a LONG time. He complimented the necklace I was wearing! LOL! It was a fiddle charm on it. Sara was the best thing of all. She is my biggest hero so I was saving up my time and excitment for her. We talked forever! It was really cool. I knew a lot of the people she used to know when she was younger so it was like talking to an old musician friend. That is all I can hardly remember. LOL! What a day that was! Now that I am setting here saying that I have the biggest frin on my face!!! :D

I am new here, although I am a member of the Street Team. I seen NC for the first time in St. Louis on Aug. 25th. It was INCREDIBLE. I was amazed at the diversity of the crowd and how we all completly hung on every note. I have seen too many concerts in my short lifetime to count, covering every genre available. They are the best live show I have ever seen. Coming from me that is a HUGE compliment. (I really have seen some awesome concerts.)

I was so moved I decided to send an email to them only to receive a reply from Sara. That was also surprising and amazing (when would she have the time to reply to a fan email)??????? I was very impressed that someone who has tons of fans would even care. Not only had this enhanced my love for the band, but gave me more fuel for the Street Team.

I am also an avid mountain biker and have a special cd I made called Nickel Creek Bike Mix. It is awesome and I don't have to switch CD's while riding. [noise]
