NC and Willie

Did anybody else go to the see NC open for Willie? I went to the Beacon on Sunday, and I have to admit I was a wee bit disappointed that they didn't do anything together. I mean, when past and future legends of the music industry are in the same building, you would think that they could play one itsy bitsy song together. Plus, Willie had two random people (at least they were random to me) come out and sing Will the Circle Be Unbroken/I'll Fly Away...I'm pretty sure Sara, Chris, and Sean know the words to those songs. Oh bother...

I was also surprised that people started shouting for Willie while NC was tuning in between songs. I know that's common concert behavior, but still struck me as a little bit rude...

It doesn't supprise me that they wouldn't perform together and the fans were shouting for Willie. I see no connection in there types of music... So like the Willie fans would not neccessarily have interest in much more talented peoples music such as Nickel Creeks Music

does anyone else here besides me truly dislike Willie? I've never thought the guy could sing and I wonder how he is so popular. I think his voice sucks as well as just about everything else. To me, he isn't as much as a legend as much as a guy who just won't go away. Maybe I have been biased ever since he covered Georgia On My Mind which I feel was put to shame compared to Ray Charles' verision.

does anyone also have the undying urge to shoot themselves over sickness caused by CMT's Katie Cook? I dunno what it is about her. I think she just comes off as shallow and as ..hmm..how do I say this...unreal? I'm pretty sure NC isn't her cup of tea but I'm not just talking about her interviews with them..but everything. i just really can't stand the woman and wish they would give someone else that much visibility.

seriously, like him or not Willie is a bonafide American legend and it's way cool NC can play with him. you may not like his style, but give him a little respect already.
not owning a TV I dont know who that CMT lady is, but if you cant stand her turn the chanel or better yet turn it off.

I have been told by about 5 or 6 different people that the house I am living in right now, used to be Willie Nelsons before he was a music star. So if anyone is in The Nashville are and wants to be able to say I have been to Willie Nelsons old house come on by!:)

Hey whatever happend to Greg on CMT???? You know that guy that used to be with Katie on MWL? He always seemed like a surfer kinda person. On Cmt's web site they used to have a biography on him and it has now been replaced by a Cletus Bio. The CMT website also says that Cletus is the new host for CMT. So once again whatever happened to Greg? Was he fired? Contract up? Legal disputes? Did he set fire to Katies hair and scream at the top of his lungs I love Martin guitars screw Gibson

chill? i'm not angry or anything. i was just wondering if anyone else thought the same. i don't hate willie or anything..i just don't understand the talent others see in him. i never said he was lacking talent...i said to me, i think, and i've all from my point of view. i even went as far to give a possible reason why i don't like him such as maybe i'm biased. i agree that country music holds him as a legend..i just don't understand how. and even better if NC gets to play with him, especially if they hold him in high regard. I think nc is happy just to be able to play at all and so much that they would be allowed to play with such a person who is considered by many to be a legend.

as for Ms. Cook, I was watching hoping to catch a glimpse of Nickel Creek. I'm sure she can be a nice person, i just feel cmt can do better...like the greg guy for example. I noticed that I haven't seen him in awhile.

and why am i the exception on if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all? there have been pleny of others to be chastised. just curious.

i think they are talking about lance smith. he is the guy who does the top 20. a week or so back there was a post on here that talked about sara doing an appearance on the top 20 and someone mentioned talking to this guy lance at a cmt touring show...and he said he loves the creek...i would reference the post for you but i don't know it off hand and don't feel like searching it out...sorry....

I didn't intend to offend anyone, MandoBob, that's my opinion of Willie Nelson. He's just one of those people who get on my nerves. Even if he is a Bonafide country legend.

hey nc freaks. i missed the willie/ nc show. bummer. but how could ya not like willie? his 4th of july annual picnic was the first show i ever went to.down in dripping springs, tx. just outside of austin. it was like a big ,old ,country woodstock. had a great time. lets see,... that was in 1980. i lived in austin, everyone loved him there. lol. but i really wanted to see nc again not willie. im sure they could have done a tune together if they wanted too. hmmmm? do ya think the chanting had anything to do with it? that is quite rude.

Back to the subject of CMT hosts. I don't have CMT, so I know very little about the station. However, I went to high school with Amber Mogg. She's from my hometown. I heard she was on CMT. Have you all heard of her? Just wondering.

She (Amber Mogg) was on MWL when Lance Smith was on, she only was on for like 3 min. a day though just reading the news going on in country music. I think she is still on doing little CMT News things all through out the day during comercials.

I agree with you on the Willie issue, Goose. I mean, the only time I liked him was when he did on the road again and I insisted on singing it as on the commode again. Man, when I was like, 10, I thought that was HILARIOUS.
