yes, i figured i would start this tread even though some have already responded to this subject under atlanta thread because the atlanta thread already has about 40 somethings posts and it can take us dial-up users awhile to get it. plus...i get tired of having to scroll down the the new stuff. anywho. if you were in atlanta area and didn't go to the NC concert...you missed it BIG! If I say it was awesome or great or wow then i'm copying everyone else. But they are right. I think I liked this show better than the ryman (which for those who were there in nashville know that that is a tall order). I say that though for several personal reasons. here goes my story...if you are unaccustomed to my posts...they get kind of lenghty..so...warning...i've got a lot to say... well my friends and i were on our way last nigth to see nickel creek at the tabernacle in atlanta. i had never been to the tabernacle and although i had directions of several sorts...it all failed me...partly b/c a little known person named Tony Hawk was also performing nearby and not to mention the usual brain-numbing traffic of atlanta so...it took a little longer than normal to get their and i ended up parking (out of frustration at trying to get around) in a not so nice area. lets just say...if you see the cops speed through this area...maybe you should too. anywho my friends and i park and walk the four blocks to the place of the performance (and yes, wearing the homemade t-shirts you all are so sick of hearing about...) against hundres of ppl going the opposite way to see the tony hawk tour thing... well we get in line outside the tabernacle...(and seeing jen and her friends in line) wait about 15 minutes as we start to enter. the tabernacle was originally a church but...there has been some SLIGHT remodeling (and for the worse). while very big and filled with plenty of stairs...this place has been made over by what appeared to me as a desinger who was stoned b/c it looked...very...umm...how do i say this...out there. i personally didn't like it. on an upside there is a huge set of pipes to an organ (that some said was in use) that run the length of the back wall behind the stage...interesting.... k, anywho. there were two balconies and the main floor which was standing room only. well its about 15 till showtime...we are walking around...being stared at b/c of our shirts (and laughed at..but only b/c some ppl understood them) and then i see sara just strolling around like eveyone else through the crowd like she is looking for someone. funny thing is...maybe four ppl notice at all besides myself. everyone else? completely oblivious...of course. for the three or four who did notice...they approched her (some small kids...awww) and she signed their stuff and talked to them. my family shows up and i take my brother matt to go meet her. of course sara is her typical angelic self talking to ppl with interest and sincerty. and wouldn't you know it...my dad has to jump in and say hey sara, check out his shirt (pointed to me)...you signed another like it in birmingham, what do you think of this one? and exactly..i'm like dad...shut up...put her on the spot why don't you...but she cracked up laughing (at the back too..*wink wink* oh in case some ppl don't know..the shirt said on the front big sam thompson makes me drive fast....and on the back...and sara makes me weak in the knee). I talked to her some more for like a minute told her i had also been at the birmingham and nashville concerts also and she questioned me doubtingly and asked this year? i told her yeah and mentioned how i know they dont' have set set lists but if it was possible maybe play big sam thompson....she smiled (oh what a nice smile) and said we'll see....she had to go b/c they were about to start but specifically told my brother to stick around after and she'll sign his stuff (awww). so to the part you are all waiting for..the actual concert review. i think sam should have the complete list so check with him for the more accurate list but here goes my feeble attempt at it. this isn't in order.

smoothie song
the lighthouse's tale
beauty& the mess
ferdy the bull
green & grey
this side
should've known better
let it fall
house of tom bom.
trouble (by jon brion...and is that the complete name?)
locking doors w/typical disclaimer
empire falls w/usual banter and the one person who has read it..
sabra girl
house carpenter w/extra verse (no intermission either..)
speak (yes i said speak...i think they said this was the first time
they did it at a concert but they should get use to it b/c its the new single..and NO they haven't done the video YET.
reasons why
the fox w/ sub homesick blues...and others i don't know...i
think..someone dbl check me on this..i think they played part of club g.r.o.s.s..yeah not sure but i swear it sounded like it ..just w/o the tenor sax. i think lithium was in there too. strangely enough..the fox wasn't part of the encore part.

ode to the butterfly with mario, a lot of stuff..i think the radio
head song i don't know the name of of. ( yeah..i'm confused whether lithium was played here or in the fox and the same for the radio head song..so..sorry check w/sam).

taxman-encore
when you come back down- 2nd encore
spit on a stranger sing along
be thou my vision

and oh okay this wasn't the last song but this THIS THIS made the night. you know how sara saw my shirt about big sam thompson ? well about midway through the normal set chris says okay we are going to do a song now from my cd called big sam thompson. and i was told that there is a guy here with a shirt about big sam thompson (yeah i'm freaking about by this time ). I yell (from way up in the balcony) trying to let them know where i'm at. Sam (mostlydead) yells go chris! and then chris thile continues with that is awesome, dude! i've got to meet you! so i basically got a song just for me (so i like to think) and they remember my stupid little shirt. oh yeah...tear..touched the heart right here...but that sweet moment didn't last b/c i'm so pysched (as you would be too if they basically called you out of the audience..hehe) about what he just said...the song...everything. THAT has to def. go down in my record books as one of the greatest moments...yeah i think so..what do you think flipper?
flipper: (dolphin noises) uh-huh uh-huh.
(yeah...i haven't had a lot of sleep lately). so the show was amazing. i don't think sean or chris broke any strings eventhough i was later told chris did...funny didn't notice that one...but then again...its so easy to be entranced by sara isn't it (ornot..bryan)? the sound i thought was good to okay...i was up in the rafters so...maybe it was better the lower you were. sean had to ask for more of sara's voice in his earpiece. and yes...there was this extremely annoying guy there (not me..the other one) who...yelled out the first time wow, you are so beautiful! the first time it was good. chris commented about the usual mix of the sound of anger but yet with a happy msg...hehe. of course..now that he has been encouraged..the guy continues to do this over and over through out the night annoying everyone more and more. dang drunks...or maybe it was the other drunks..who knows...well thats about it as far as the music side. as mentioned in the other posts..the crowd was so energetic and great. i think we had enough 20 year olds to fill a small college...but..no complaints...many good looking women go to nc concerts..hehe. someone back me up on that.... well afterwards as everyone leaves...we go to the floor and wait. sean, sara, and chris (no derek :( ) come out and work their way down the line. sean comes first and he is nice enough to sign like all six of my brothers things. i forget to get him to sign my shirt. but he busts out laughing seeing the back of my shirt.....i guess he doesn't mind me talking about his sister...hehe.. in a good way though..He asks my friends and I hey, do i know you? b/c you all look really familiar... i really didn't know about to respond to that but it was nice hearing that i guess considering it was teh first concert for my friends...who knows? sara comes next and loves all of my shirts (i got my friends to wear the other ones..yeah i'm a dork). she signs like 10 things from all of us together. i asked her again about the upcoming video for speak just to make sure and she says no they haven't done it yet but it should be out quickly once done. they come out like a few weeks after completion vs. albums which are like months. i also did a dblchk on sean's new cd and the mas. the mas and sean's are still on schedule for the spring i think. i told her...well while those are all good..what we all want to really hear is your solo cd. she said she is waiting for it too and that all the songs she wants to cover...ppl keep coming out and cutting them so...no luck yet. i really tried to get my friends and i to sing you've lost that loving feeling to her..but no interest by them. overall good time as always talking to her. gotta love brown eyes....so chris is last but not least...and finally see the shirt and as everyone else...rolls laughing...and even the back and the other shirts. and while he wasn't rude..i think he was just in a hurry. so he signed our stuff, met my bro and said he (chris) felt honored that his 1st concert would be nickel creek and that his signature is going on the wall next to the dale earnhardt stuff. so..great night over all. and my friends heckled me about sara...she thought you were cute chris..haha..yeah...that would a case where i would mine the joke if it were true. yeah i know..get in line after bryan and ornot...hey, WAIT..you cut!...sorry to have it so long guys...

a happy goose

[guilty] <--- This is my jealous face.

Yes, there ARE lots of hotties at NC concerts.

I also wish Derek would come out for the meet and greet. Someone needs to bring that up w/ them sometime.

LOL the only bad thing about your long posts is that I end up really close to the screen, not blinking, and then my eyes hurt but I can't stop reading and dang my eyes are like numb now!!

luvmymandochris: Sara was the first to come out -- she came out via the stage and almost tripped jumping down. She came out about 10-15 minutes after the show. Sean and Chris came out a few minutes later.

Goose -- I was the long-haired guy leaning on the table under the balcony when you were talking to the band. Also, I know that Beauty and the Mess was #2 and Lighthouse was #3, but the rest of your list sounds right.

NCFreak: I've seen Derek come out to the meet and greets. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. It probably depends on how he feels. I've asked him about it before and his usual response is something like (forgive me, Derek, if I misrepresent your views) that people want to see the trio and not him....

*Sigh* I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting my goddess. While I've been to several shows, I never stick around....just too many people. Besides, the concerts are usually always at night and always several hours from home, and I'm usually driving. SO, I generally bolt so that I can beat the traffic.

Goose, way to go on the T-shirts! What a great idea...especially the back!! :D And I must say that it appears that you are able to keep your head (and your tongue) while speaking to her. My problem is, I'd probably end up the village idiot if I ever came face to face with Sara. *sigh* I can imagine the conversation: eee...uhhhh....ummm....hi....uhhh....oh dear...*mumble mumble mumble*..... *passes out* Great, face to face with a perfect specimen of feminine beauty, grace and charm and all i'd be able to do is drool.

ANYWHO, yes goose, I can back you up. Lotsa hotties go to NC shows. I showed up early for one out here (outdoor concert. WORD.) And then suddenly, ALL these girls came in. ALL unnattached. WORD. But who cares, I was there to see NC. And the other two guys who play string instruments with her. :D

Next NC show, i'm sticking around and talking. I'm also gonna request that they play Windmills.

OrnotMajestic, just relax. Sara is a person just like you. She just happens to have a talent for music. Besides her talent, she likes the same things that other like and interacts with people how others interact. Besides, she's a wonderfully friendly person.

Oh, i'm plenty relaxed and I do know that she is just a person like everyone else.....but I still occasionally get my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth when face to face with pretty girls. :D But when I do finally get to meet her, I'll make sure I tell you all about how it went!

oh two or so things i forgot to mention. bart: i didn't really want to ask the hotdog question i kinda forgot. and i asked sara about you. i said there's a guy named danny (your name is danny isn't? harry! you're alive! and you're a horrible shot! where did you get a gun? your name IS harry isn't it?) who use to play with you all a little back in the day. i did the best i could to describe you considering i don't know much. she did recognize the hotdog question however but still couldn't think of you. who knows...so much for connecting to her through another person..hehe. and secondly...i made my shirt (big sam thompson makes me drive fast) come true to the fullest extent. on my way home after dropping my friends off, i was listening to big sam and speeding. yeah i got my first speeding ticket. 92 in a 65. yeah thats fast i know but also my dash lights don't work so i didn't know i was doing 90...ouch. and a fine amount wasn't posted on the ticket. i have to go to court on the 4th of dec. and i still have a class d provisional license (for 16-18) but i'm 19 and i haven't changed it to a normal one (class c). if you are caught driving 25 or over and have a class d...you lose your license for six months...so..i may be saying bye bye to driving for awhile. i'm hoping for some mercy in that i'm 19..didn't know i was suppose to chg my license...out of the country for a year..and first time...but thats about as hoping as me becoming the personal friend of sara...so you can see. just some interesting facts i thought one person might have wanted to know.

*snaps fingers in frustration* I knew I shouldn't have left right after the show. Unfortunately, I had to get a ride to Atlanta with my Dad, and I had to go somewhere else after the show. But, now I know. Stupid being 17 and not allowed to drive to Atlanta by myself.

Goose, I was wondering who they were talking about with the shirt thing. I actually looked around for a person wearing that shirt. But, since you were in a balcony and I was on the floor, I didn't see you. (I laughed when Chris mentioned your shirt... I'm very in to the whole homemade shirt thing myself).

I'm glad the drunk guys got on someone else's nerves. I was 4 people away from them. But, as I'm a short little Amber, I decided not to leap over the other people around me and punch them.

I wish I had seen people. *sigh* It's like that time everyone from bb.net went to I-Con and I didn't and they all saw each other, except this time I was there. Anyone happen to see a auburn headed girl in a blue shirt and grey jacket around her waist? That was me.

Good luck with the whole ticket thing, Goose. It's kind of ironic that you were wearing the shirt and listening to the song and got a ticket for speeding... he he.

Sorry it's taken a few days to post but I was at another show in St. Louis the night after and haven't had a chance to post. The show I thought was friggin awesome as always but I think the personal highlight was being able to meet them afterwards. I along with a few others opted to wait outside by the bus rather than inside where everyone else was. It took nearly 2 hours to get everyone out there but it was worth it. Derek came out first and signed autographs. Then Sara came out, I actually talked to her for a bit about coffee shops or something. The whole time I kept thinking I'm talking to Sara! I think the highlight as far as the show goes was hearing Speak I think that's the best song on the album and was really glad to hear it. It was really cool to get to see Jenn(shygirl32) and Chris(Goose_17) again, along with meeting Christy(NiteJule) at the show. I know I really got on Jenn's nerves with my non stop talking between songs but I was just so dang excited to be there. Anyhoo, I posted the set on the trader part if anyone cares. Goose: When you asked me whenever you were leaving if I had the set list I thought you were asking about the physical setlist, which actually turned out to be a note on stage and not a setlist; so that's why I didn't make sense when I talked to you. About the drunk guys, I apoligized to Sean about them, his reply was nah, you guys were great. Nice guy.

Gee Goose, despite being a thoroughly long posting, I enjoyed reading every word of it. Your night at the concert sounds like it must have been one of the most memorable experiences in your life, and I'm glad you were able to chat with Sara and get a laugh out of everyone in the band. It was very enjoyable hearing about you fawning over your dream girl (although I daresay I agree with you -- good choice!!). I've never seen NC live before because nobody ever comes to Orlando it seems (we're not 'southern' enough I suppose, even though we're further south than nearly everyone else!) Someday I would love to be able to see them in concert, and your rendition of the night makes me want to go all the more. Congrats on the creative shirts and the gall to show them off, and may you get the chance to meet Sara again!

Sorry I'm a little behind here. That was a great post Goose! I wish I could meet them and be that cool about it. I love hearing about the shirts too. Keep up the good work there. Thanks for remembering to ask about the video. I hope they make one soon.
