Where to begin? Well, it took almost 2 hours to get to the Theatre. I was very angry about that, there was sooo much traffic. When we finally get there we couldn't find a place to park. The concert started at 8 and it was 7:45, and we still hadn't found a spot, I was very nervous. When we finally found one, we had to run up to the theatre. Our seats were great, third row, by Sean :D

When they walked out on stage, I was in shock, I couldn't actually believe I was seeing them, I almost started to cry. They are such an amazing group of people who have inspired me so much this past year.

Here are the songs that I can remember they performed, they are in no particular order:

Smoothie Song
Beauty and the Mess
Empire Falls
Reason's Why
This Side
Let it Fall
House of Tom Bom
Sabra Girl
House Carpenter
WYCBD
Lighthouse's Tale
Taxman
Be thou my vision
Ode to a Butterfly
The Fox
Green and Gray
Should've Known Better

I know there are more I just can't remember, if anyone else was there let me know what I'm missing.

After the concert, we went outside by their bus to wait for them. We were out there for about a half hour, when someone came out and said they were still inside signing autographs. So, we went back inside and there they were. I was so nervous, I didn't know what to say. When we were waiting to meet Sean, my cousin said my face was so red, and my hands were shaking. I know I'm so pathetic. I walked up to Sean and asked him to sign my CD, and I told him how amazing they were. He was so nice, he asked us where we were from and thanked us for coming. He said he liked my scarf, and that he was really into scarfs, he's so cute. I got my picture taken with him, I can't wait to get them developed. We couldn't take any pictures inside when they were performing, but at the end when they were leaving I took 2 pictures. We then went over to Chris and then Sara. They are just the nicest people.

I never wanted the night to end. It was one of the best nights of my life! I can't wait for them to come back to Jersey. I'm already going through withdrawals, I need more Nickel Creek :D

Anyway, that's my story, sorry if this is so long guys!

Well...I was waiting for this show for almost two months. I was able to check out NC in Lancaster, PA over the summer and have been a big fan for almost two years now. How could you not be?

But last night's show just blew me away! The band seems to just be getting tighter and tighter. The arrangements of The Fox and House Carpenter (not to mention the extra verse in HC) were so different than the CDs, that it was obvioius they are growing immensely as a band.

I was so locked into the show, I felt like I was dreaming at some points.

And when they did their last (2nd) encore without mics or amps, I got choked up...I'm a frickin' 40 year old guy with three kids for heaven's sake.

My only regret is that I didn't stick around and talk to the band afterwards. I wasn't thinking. I sent Chris a bunch of frisbees this summer, after he mentioned they lost all theirs on the road. Just wanted to see if he got them.

Incredible...incredible...I cannot stop thinking about the show.

p.s. My friend and I stopped into a guitar shop in Princeton before the show and asked the guy working there if he had ever heard of Nickel Creek. He said yes, and that Chris and Sean had stopped by earlier in the day.

He admitted that he didn't know who they were when they came in, but that were reading a guitar magazine interview, and commenting, I didn't say that. or something like it. After they left, the guitar store clerk checked out the magazine, and when he saw their picture, he realized that it was Chris and Sean from NC. Pretty funny story...

That was a great story. Do you know what magazine it was? I wonder what they said that the magazine got wrong in the interview.[think]

No anna,

I'm not sure what magazine it was. They had a rack of about a dozen, and I was too busy laughing at the story to ask.

I'll scout around and see what I can find on the Web.

OK. I was just curious.

If you do find something though, please let us know.

So saw the Princeton show too, and loved it, this was my second time seeing them, wish they came to this area more. My question is this:

I get the impression that in most of the country their fan base is pretty young, but the Princeton show was mostly adults. JDFlyer mentioned that he was in his 40, I'm 25, and I was just wondering what age group some of the other Jersey NC fans were.

Also, I play mando and sing and I'm looking to put together a project that is influenced by NC (I'm not Chris, but who is), more like some of their more upbeat rock stuff, anyone interested?

I'm 21 and am learning to play guitar. I would love to join you, but I don't think I'm that good yet. I don't sing that well either. Where in Jersey are you? I'm in Sparta.

I'm actually in the Princeton/Trenton area, so that's a bit of a haul.

Some of the other tunes you missed:

Move That Mountain
Don't Dream it's Over
Lithium

I had another one, but I forget what it was.

Good luck with the guitar, if we weren't so far apart it would be cool to get together. Next time NCs in town we should get the locals from this board together.

That sucks. We should definitely get together next time NC comes around. Who knows when that will be though? Probably not until late next year sometime.

Thanks for the other songs. Another song I missed was Locking Doors and Trouble.

Good luck with finding people for your band.

Like many of you, I have been really dying to get my hands on some NC sheet music. But after reading some of the FAQs online, I see that there is none yet available.

The band says they're working on it, but it is going to take some time.

As a guitar player with three kids (see earlier post), I often play nursery rhymes for the kids. Well...one day, in a music book of nursery rhymes, I happened across The Fox!

My 5-year old was really the one to point it out, as she too is a big NC fan. Well, it's really watered down, compared to how the master musicians NC play it, but the chord structure is:

Chord----------Words
D The fox went out one chilly night. Prayed for the moon to...
A7 ...give him light, for he'd...
G ...many a mile to...
D ...do that night be-
A7 ...fore he'd reach the...
D ...town. Oh,
A7 ...town oh,...
D ...town, oh...
G ...Many a mile to...
D ...do that night be-...
A7 ...fore he'd reach the...
D ...town oh

Thought it would be nice to share this with my NC brethren and sisters!

John D.

p.s. to an earlier message, maybe one reason there were so many gray-hairs (including some of mine on the temples) was that the McCarter is a theater that relies heavily on seasonal donors. Those same people who were at the NC concert are going to see the symphony there next week! Cool...

I did ask two couples upstairs (both b/n 50-60 yrs) as I was getting a coffee, if they were really NC fans or just there for the show. The husband assured me he was there to see NC and had both their CDs. Now the wife I wasn't too sure about, as she just sat there reading her book , not really engaging me in the coversation :D

i went to the morgantown concert and my 11 told me she was worried that i would be the oldest person there(my husband is older!!) the crowd there was mixed, i am 38 and felt like i was in the middle age-wise. they were great. can't wait to see them again and again and again. my only regret was not getting to meet them afterwards, i had heard they were really good about that.

The Princeton concert rocked! It was totally awesome! It was the tenth time I've seen them and it was one of the best ones! Anyway, I think NC has a wide range of fans, age-wise. We can't blame everyone for loving them! lol! What was your all's favorite part of the concert? For me it woulda been be thou my vision, i think...though the whole concert rocked!!!!!! I really like the new way they do the fox and ode to a butterfly (mixed with wheezer and nirvana, respectively)....I used to like the old way better but now I think the new ones are awesome!

Anna,

I found the link to the NC interview in Acoustic Guitar.

You can enjoy the chat at: http://www.acousticguitar.com/issues/ag120/feature120.html

For a really nice story that was done by the same author, except on NPR, click over to: http://www.npr.org/ramfiles/atc/20020927.atc.16.ram

Just can't enough of these guys.

John D.

p.s. Spending the day with the kids. Mom's at work all day, so I need to get off the computer and go play now!

Bye;)

Thanks. I have that magazine. That's pretty cool. I still wish I knew what they got wrong though.[think]

Anyway, thanks for finding out which one it was.
