I went to the NC/Mayer show last night. WOW.
Excellent performance. They were super fired up, with all three moving all over the stage.
The only down side was that their set was only 45min long and there were a bunch of 15yr old girls squealing about Mayer the whole time behind me. I am not sure the fan base meshed together that well here in Maine. However, there was a hugh group of people there to see NC.
A couple songs into the set Sara thanked us for coming to the show early! She didn't know 1/3rd of the crowd was there for them! Often shouts and claps of recognition for a song they would start to play exploded throughout the civic center, so I'm sure many there wanted to see NC. It is refreshing to see humble musicians in todays music scene.
All in all an excellent show. I can not wait till they come back and play as the main act.

p.s. Who knew the mario theme song could sound so good?!

Hey gee tar, I was there last night too! NC absolutely rocked!! I was one of the 1/3 there to see them. What a great performance.

Where were you sitting? I was in the upper rows, secion S. It was a good seat, though I wished I'd have gotten closer. Sara also mentioned that she loved Maine, and Portland. I can't wait til they come back again for a full act!!!

Yeah, the Mario theme just cracked me up!

Oh, btw, here was the setlist (not really in order)

Smoothie Song
Beauty and the Mess
Lighthouse's Tale
This Side
Reasons Why
Trouble
The Fox
House of Tom Bombadili
Taxman
Adn another real fast song I did't recognize.

In all, an AWESOME show. Nickel Creek one again shows why they're #1 in my book.

HELLO!
I saw that you were the only portland show-goer who left a message on this great message board. I must say....it was the best show I've ever seen. BUT I expected nothing but just that. The energy was amazing-I hoped and hoped they would return fully at the end ...at least.
Those girls..oh those teeny boppy girls crying for John-yes he was good. I must say....but the INTENSITY NICKEL CREEK PUT ON THE STAGE before he came out...didn't compare.
I hope and pray and wish them to return in the VERY near future.
