Hey does anyone else think that sara should come out with a solo albulm? Just wondering, cause I think it would be great to hear something like that from her, with maybe a few vocal tracks...a few of her own written lyrics...

Yeah, even Sara thinks it would be cool. But she ain't got time. At least that's what I've read in the previous 800 posts on this subject.

hmm i'm not postive about that one. when they were at the tabernacle in atlanta, i specifically asked sara about that and i didn't get any kind of hint that one was in the works atleast at the recording level. she made the comment that she would love to do one but everyone keeps covering/cutting the songs that she wants to do but who knows...i hope she does a solo job.

I think that she and Nickel Creek should do a Christmas album, but only her singing the lead vocals. But then again, there would probably be a group of Jews or Athiests that would try to ban Nickel Creek and Sara.... Of course, we'd kick all of their butts, wouldn't we guys?

Uh no kicking butts, although someone banning NC just for their religious preference, that would be weird. I mean, I still like them don't I? heehee

Who cares about religious preference anyway? (Anyone who bans) I'm just glad I can listen.

Very true. I stand corrected. Yeah, I'm just glad that I can listen, too. :)

I agree that a Christmas album would be awesome. And as far as I'm concerned, anyone who bans a band because of their religions preference has completely missed the point and isn't in it for the Music.

i think they have that right b/c its their choice. while i am of the same religious preference as Sara, if someone feels offended by it then they don't have to listen to it and i'm not going to harrass them that they are standing up for things they believe in. now i may be curious to the particulars of why but as it has been said I may disagree with what you say, but I'll fight to the death for your right ot say it. And on a counter point I don't think they (NC) should worry about offending people when it comes to putting material of that nature (of the previously expressed christian nature) in their music. That is not, however, an exuse for recklessly doing things and saying..oh i don't care what you think but its being humble saying what you think, doing it in love without the intention of trying to offend people. its hard to explain i guess to others...anyone wanna throw me a freakin' bone here? like there would be several things in music that i wouldn't listen to because of the views that songwriter or artist holds such as marylin manson, or as miss spears. they way they present themselves say a lot of what they think or atleast the msg they are trying to get across. and frankly, God bless them, but i don't want anything to do with that. music is never just music. what inspires someone to write a song? to whom are they writing? what are they trying to convey or express? what are there feelings about this? these are all things with and involved with music. some of these make it a wonderful medium of expression. example..Nickel Creek. Like when you listen to chris' raining at sunset and then read the liner notes you sorta get the idea of what was going on there and what he means by that. k, i'm done for now. i truly hope that no one has misunderstood me. i'm sure they have. someone always does. well God bless.

Goose, I agree.
I love music because it's such a powerful form of expression. I've always thought that, if I were a singer, I would avoid songs that didn't hold some sort of meaning for me. (Granted, there are some songs that are just fun for the sake of fun. That's a sort of meaning! :D ) But I wouldn't sing something that I disagreed with, because I wouldn't want that to be taken as an expression of myself.
Eminem is a good example, I guess. He expresses himself through his music, and it's not something that I'm into. So? So I don't listen to it.
Anyway, I don't know that this post has really contributed to the discussion, but just trying to offer a little support. [noise]

Goose,

What Religious Preference do each of the NC have? Just wondering because they have such wonderful music it is hard to understand anyone wanting to not have them play at an event or anything else.

not to start another debate like we've had before but they all claim chrisitanity. how do i know? i believe they've said in interviews, through their music and other sources but i can't remember those right now. so.

Goose,

I knew they were Christians. I just did not know if they were Baptist or whatever. I think they are like all Christians, we are all trying to make it to Heaven doing the best we can. Have A GREAT DAY!

This has probably been addressed elsewhere but does Sara write music &/or lyrics? She has never even cowritten a song a on a NC release but just because she hasn't written any NC tunes(thus far) doesn't mean she has no inclination in that direction.

just curious

I'm fairly late, but...huh?

This is beginning to sound vaguely Dixie Chicks-ish. So we're allowed to hate a band because of their political views, but *not* because of their religion?

I think she has some free time, um when they aren't touring or when Chris does solo stuff. That's not to say that she probably hasn't written anything, which I think she has. She biding her time as to when to record her music.

Another time she said that she was definately interested in doing a solo album, but she didn't want it to be just another fiddle cd. She wants to get really good material together before she records I guess. I hope if she does a solo project that she does Drone and Trouble on it, although I heard that Trouble will be on MAS (which I won't get started on whenever that may be released) and Glen will be singing it. Anybody hear this too?

I think over at greenandgray.net's forum somebody posted saying that Sara was recording an album now...I can go doublecheck and post a link if anybody's interested...

hope it's true! I'd love to hear what she'd come up with! Just curious, ya know? [noise]

(New poster adding to a dead thread...hope no one minds the ups ;) ).

although I heard that Trouble will be on MAS (which I won't get started on whenever that may be released) and Glen will be singing it.

I hope not, I love when Sarah sings this song. Even though Glen's voice is gorgeous as well.

To the best of my knowledge, you are completely correct, she has not written, nor co-written, any of their released material on the albums.

However, this is not to say that she hasn't helped arrange anything instrumentally. My guess is that she adds a bit to the arrangement of their instrumental works and so forth...which is one reason I'd love to hear some compositions of her own. Chris and Sean both have a distinct style to their composing, which is recognizable in many Creek songs. I'd love to hear how Sarah is influencing the Creek songs.

And that girl can sing. :D

Given her time restraints and all, my guess is that there is more of a chance we'd see a Sarah song on an album, before we saw a solo CD of her own. She did once say in an interview that she would like to start composing songs for the next album (or that she has, I can't remember which).

Yeah, Glen's voice is great...except for on that song. After hearing Glen's version and the original, I just don't think a guy's voice is right for it. Maybe if the guy was a young Brian Wilson, but other than that, it's just too high of a range.
