If I want to quote another poster's comments (to compliment the poster, of course!), how do I do that? I once knew how on another board I play on, but I've managed to screw it up there, too. Computer-duh is my middle name. It's what the C stands for.....

Use the little quote button on the right hand side under the person's message.

OMG....the little quote button! Never saw it before! And there, above me, is your originally posted quote! Son of a gun. I guess I can edit the quote to make it shorter if I want, yes? I mean, I often would not want to quote the whole post (some are longer than Gone With the Wind).

Thank you, PJ:p

El Capitan....what are tag lines?

They are the brackets that go before and after a sentence.
When you press the quote button on someone's message, it will be like this:
blah blah blah If you erase any part of either the opening or closing tags, then it won't show up correctly. The same with making something bold. To do this, I just typed bold. The slash indicates a closing tag, therefore rendering all text within the tags altered. For an explanation, just click here. (http://www.nickelcreek.info/forum/misc.php?s=&action=bbcode)

Hope that helps!! :D

Okay, El Cap, so I go to the section I want to quote and put the tags before and after what I want to quote? Like put the in front and the at the end? And then I hit the quote button? Or do I then go back to my post and push the quote button?

No, just press the quote button. I was just explaining how it works, tis all! :D What probably happened when you tried it, was you accidentaly erased part of the closing tag. I was just trying to explain how it all works in my previous post!

Try quoting me and seeing if it works.

OKay....I went to your message and hit quote and here you are, yes? If I wanted to just quote a little bit of this I could (carefully) erase some words. By George, I think I have it.

I had started a message to you before I went to your message and I think that one is floating around in cyberspace. It said that I know I am terribly tedious but that being nice to old folks is a stepping stone to heaven and here you have forged another stone!

Thank you very much.

YAY!! It worked!! Happy to be of assistance!! :D

Yes, the key word is carefully....you have no idea how many times i've had to edit my posts due to accidentally messing with opening/closing tags!
