i was in the car all day--logging good listening time. and lemme tell ya...that seven wonders becomes more wonderful all the time. what really struck me today was the end. i always enjoyed the layering etc...but the way it seems to fall off a cliff _slowly_ at the very end is incredible. it's like a wave that breaks. but it breaks so desperately softly. a subtle but powerful breaking up of the voices. wow. just wanted to share. how do they make the sorrow so beautiful?
anyway,
j. marie

WOW! Just like you wanted to share that with us, I just wanted to share that I think you say the best things sometimes, I love the way you read into things, and come up with all deep and meaningful words!

I agree Elizabeth! I've been noticing how good she is with words. They just flow:D . You should be a journalist or something.

dang. this might motivate me to scrub the floors AGAIN. :) i already made the cranberry oatmeal cookies...with such sweet affirmation, i think i could pressure wash the deck and repot all my plants (if it were that time of year, of course)!
happy to blush,

Oh my goodness cookies are my favorite!
CRANBERRY oatmeal cookies? That's a new one! I'll bet they're good! I wouldn't know, though, because I've never eaten a cranberry. (I have eaten a fried oyster, though.) I always plan to eat a cranberry at Holiday dinners, but I never remember to.
But J. Marie Hall, you should write poetry if you don't already do! If your poetry is like what you said awhile ago, it would buy you a contract somewhere!:)

first, i think it's imperative that you find some cranberry oatmeal cookies. right away. if the recipe doesn't call for walnuts, add 'em. :) since oats are nice and grainy, using a grainy flour (which is the healthier option) is perfectly wunderbar. just adjust some of the softeners like butter i guess.
and thanks for the poetry encouragement--who knows? what's funny is that i enjoy prose even more than poetry, and i'm feeling the urge to work on that...ever read flannery o'connor's short stories? i'm reading one of her novels (the violent bear it away), and i'm just being kicked in the gut (in a good way)...sometimes i simply can't get to sleep--and it's not 'cause i'm thinking per se. it's b/c something is going on at a deeper level, and i know her work is responsible.
gurgle, gurgle,
