Last night I went to a show in San Jose at Espresso Gardens. It was some sort of self-proclaimed Celtic band (which was more like Irish Folk music to me) ... but that's beside the point. On my way out I grabbed a flyer of upcoming events. Much to my surprise, I saw the name Chris Thile! He will be playing at Espresso Gardens on Bascom Avenue in San Jose on Feb. 20th with Mike Marshall at 6:45 and 8:00pm. I won't be able to go because I am going to Texas that week, but for all you other Bay-Area dwellers, check it out! The flyer also had a side not that said there may be guitar and fiddle too... (wonder who that could be...hmmm...)
Anyway, just thought I would pass that along.

Well, I know that at Wintergrass (on Feb. 22) Chris and Mike Marshal will be playing AND RECORDING bits of that live performance for their new cd! Weird huh??? I'm going to jamb with him that night!! (YEAH!)

Is a wonderful little venue, really a tiny espresso bar that also does occasional concerts. The place holds *maybe* 100 people, so I'd highly recommend getting tix early for this show if you're anywhere near the Bay area.

Thanks so much! I can't believe he'll be playing again at Espresso, I saw Nickel Creek there last May, it is an amazingly SMALL coffee shop , like what someone else stated, holds probably under 100 people !! Best bet is to call them up , the last time I saw a concert they only took reservations , and didn't sell tickets.

The tickets are $20 in advance, and you can call Dick Brundle at
(408) 292-7940 for reservations. Otherwise, the tickets are $22 at the door. People in this area seem to be pretty big on bluegrass, so I would reccomend calling. You can also go to FiddlingCricket.com for more info. I love this venue despite it's small size. There is not a bad seat in the place, and the bread pudding is fantastic.

I just got my tickets (3) reserved today! I have no idea who I'm asking to go, so if anyone needs any tickets for the 8pm if its sold out, let me know. Who's going? It'd be cool to meet some of you--
