YEAH!!!! I can't wait to hear it, especially all of his vocal tracks! I wonder what the title 26 Miles means. I do like it better than the Chutes and Latters title, I think that's what I remembering someone saying it might be. Thanks for the update! [noise]

[party] Yay!!! I'm gonna start countin' down the days.[noise]

And yeah, I like the new title better too.

If you haven't read it yet, read Sean's new journal. He said that he updated the album some by adding two new songs and taking one off. He said that he decided to make the title of one of the new songs the title for the album.

Here's a guess. I've read that Sean lives in a house with a view of the ocean. Catalina Island is visible on a clear day and is 26 miles off the coast of Southern California. It may be the ocean which lies between him and Catalina.

Thanks Sneezy! That was a very good observation, I never would have thought of that. Sounds good to me, maybe he named it that b/c that is what he would see while writing his music. I guess we'll find out soon enough if that is what it means. Maybe someone can ask him at their next concert, if I get to go it won't be until April. Thanks again.

:) Yippie!!!! I just heard! My calendar is marked with a countdown already, nine weeks from today (well, 8 weeks, 6 days, 2 hours, and 25 minutes for us in eastern standard time-to be exact). I will have to request off of work so I can listen to it all day. He will be singing on most of the tracks, which makes it that much more exciting.

Well, a mile is a standard unit for measuring distance here in the U.S. The title is a value of 26 times that standardized unit. :D

I'm goin' straight t'heck fer that one. [hide]

Thanks so much Bryan. That is what I was really trying to find out when I asked, I mean everyone else was giving me some really deep answer but all I wanted to know was what a mile was and what the 26 meant. ;) Did you go to heck to get that answer for me, ahh you shouldn't have. I guess you can't come back now though. Too bad. You really didn't need to go that far out of the way, unless you were already on you way down there and thought you would just go ahead and find out the answer for me. So thanks and remember to stay cool down there, I would take you a fan, but I'm not going to go down there!

Well if I am remembering clearly...
Sean said he named the album after the new song that he composed in hotel rooms throughout the US on his little Pro Tools thing. Soooo....
Anywho..I could see him naming it 26 miles after his 26 years. Very Deep..Sounds like something Sean would write . For Sure. Maybe the song will give us clues.

I am so excited! This is the first NC or NC affiliated album I have ever had to wait for. Alll the others I just went out and bought. Surely this will kill me!

It is hard to think that Sean will be turning 26. He doesn't seem that old. But maybe again, it is because I do not know him.;)

Not that this has anything to do with Sean...but I can understand that whole I can't believe they're gonna be... thing. My youngest older brother (haha does that make sense?) is going to be 30 in June. It's just so crazy how fast time flies because I remember when he was wild and crazy 18!

Just a thought...

The length of a marathon is 26 miles on average, so perhaps Sean feels like he's come a long way to get to where he is today, and feels as though he has run a marathon.

On average? It's a little more than just an average. If the distance isn't 26 miles, it's not a true marathon.

The CD comes out the day I get back from New York City. Woot! I'll have to save money just so I can go to the only store in town that will have it and be able to afford it. And I'll be going there straight from the airport. Forget my family, I'll have a CD to buy!

That's a really interesting thought.. that would be really cool it that was true, because I can see Catalina on a clear day from where I live, also. (And I've been there- 2 hours on the Catalina Flyer ^_^).

As for my guess, though, I'll go with the 26 years old = 26 miles. It seems like something Sean would think of.

And I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUT!!! [party]

26 miles is the name of a song on his CD. It is one of the 2 new ones he added after the release date of his CD got pushed back. Here's a quote from his journal:
The two new ones were actually ones I did on my computer with my ProTools MBox. One of them, the title track as it turns out, was recorded in various hotel rooms

matt, i think you should do your own interview with sean just to talk about pro tools all for yourself and maybe for the three other people who are cool and understand the recording stuff. and the girls will just listen to it, clueless (except for reignfall maybe) about what he is saying but just to hear his voice. ha, that would be great.

Thanks so much Goose!! [think har I feel so great right now. How do you know what every girl on this board know about that stuff anyways? and are we uncool if we don't know anything about it? since you said 3 people who are cool and understand it should be in on it. Sorry for being like this but I've never heard you say anything like that before. It just sounds like you think all of the girls on here are shallow and just like to listen to his voice totally clueless about what he is even saying and happy with being clueless.

Well, gee golly jeepers! If he'd open his mouth more often! The guy's so darn quiet, not like I know him personally or anything. But he rarely says anything, and when he does, Chris or Sara finish his sentences. Not that that's bad, I do it for everyone around me, I can't help it I know what they're going to say and can say it better than them!!

Harsh Goose-

Just because we swoon does not mean we are not capable of using our brains. Plus, I think you would want to hear just about anything Sara had to say as well. And I agree with Cassie. You have to pay attention when he speaks, because you might not hear his voice for a couple more months. He is so quiet. Almost Creepy quiet. Like one of those people that you know they are thinking deep thoughts, but they never say anything...Ohhhh....Creepy! So Goose...Where do we send the checks for the dictionary on tape?

linzee_nc
02-09-2003, 05:44 PM
Sean does seem very quiet during interviews, but he was the one who talked to us the most after the Cinci concert. He was extremely sweet. I think that a lot of times Chris does most of the talking because he is VERY outgoing, and then people ask Sara things because she is the only girl. They all balance each other out. Anyway, 58 days until Sean's CD. :)

The mood of my post was lost. I need to work on that. I only say gee golly jeepers when I'm in a happy goofy mood. I'm not shallow, but I would listen to that just to hear his voice, learning something about pro-tools would just be a fringe benefit! :D Please no one think I'm angry, I thought Goose's post was hilarious, and right on the money for most, not all, most, girls. There are a select few with good sense, I choose to rotate between the groups.

Oh, thank goodness. What on Earth would we do if there weren't anyone to choose to get offended by irrelevant things? I think you should all go down to ATL, find Goose, and burn him at the stake in the public square. That's the only fair punishment. I mean, how DARE he?!? Shame on you, Goose, for implying that the normal, every day Sean Watkins fanatic may not know much, if anything, about a highly specialized music recording software. And then to suggest that these girls would listen to a Sean interview no matter the topic? What's you're problem, man???

I did not say that I resented Goose! Come on now. I just said I resented the IMPLICATION that he made that may not be completely accurate. As a Sean Watkins fan and a beginning user of pro tool, in my humble opinion, an interview of Sean talking about pro tool would be pretty darn cool. It just seemed to me a little harsh to accuse everyone else of being clueless and only listening to interviews for the swoon factor. That's all; no hard feelings meant.:D I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone to the point of rebuttal...

Goose_17
02-10-2003, 09:39 PM
While i appreciate those girls and guys who have not been offended and actually agree with the post, here is what i meant, so those girls who are offended can get over it. Do you girls honestly think I meant every single girl on the message board or every female Sean fan would be unable to understand protools? Were you born yesterday? Known to the other 99.9 % of the world is that in casual conversations generalities are made. If I had planned on that post being in a research paper or something other than casually joking with my friends, then I would have clearly stated some girls and not all. If we were debating something (well before I spilt everyone's milk and made them cry) then there again I would try to be more specific and not so general. I assumed that you all would understand that. And I'm just laughing so hard at all my new implications that other people know so well about what I meant to say. I do however apoligize for the vagueness of the comment and maybe lack of clarity. I truly appreciate how some people have so kindly quoted me out of context, such as me accusing everone else of being clueless. Now I apparently have inlcuded everyone. Wow. I missed that one. Or what about the fact that I said Reignfall may be into it too (based upon the fact she does her own music, therefore giving the possibility she may have extra know-how into things related to recording)? How could I say that all girls are shallow, or were not able to use their brains, as according to how some of you claim, if I just made atleast one exception? Then that would not be all would it?
Secondly, while this is going to be a very anal point, let's review. The is a definite article. Definite articles show that a noun is being used in a defined or restricted context. When a noun is used in a non-defined or generalizing context, a definite article is not needed (http://efl.bravepages.com/grammar2.htm). So you are wondeing why this matters? I said and the girls. Forgive me that I did not clarify who I was talking about but I was referring to a group of girls in specific therefore I used the. The group of girls would be the counterpart of Ornot, Bryan, and myself that faun over a certain member of NC, sometimes to what to others would consider as hero worship etc.
Next part. Sarah (Sap), in a previous thread about protools, Matt (the fiddler) and other people went into great detail about their home-recording procedures and the methods they liked to employ. I made a comment about not having a clue what they were talking about and being ignorant of it all. I was worried I might have offended Matt by me implying he was somehow a geek for knowing all of that technical jargin while only a few others, atleast admittingly, understood. (you know like when you were in school and the teacher asked a question that almost no one knew the answer to, except for some exceptional student with knowledge that most would count as irrelevent and stupid? Often times that kid would be made fun of for being a know-it-all.) While I'm pretty confident Matt is a big boy, I wanted to make clear that I wasn't harrassing Matt for knowing or caring about these things, thus I wrote cool referring to those who have these minds full of techincal and sound info while the majority of us do not. I didn't worry about other people taking it wrong way b/c I was speaking to Matt (look at the first word). Sarah hun, if a guy tells you look nice one day, do you question him and accuse him that he is implying that you don't look nice on all the other days too? I'm guessing you would say no and if you see the parallel here maybe you will catch my drift. By saying so-and-so is cool, does that make everyone else uncool?
Since you all know me so well in my infatuations with Sara and that I also would listen to an interview on a topic that I know nothing about. I was surprised that some of you seem to forget what other part I thought you knew about me too, in that I normally mean everything light-hearted unless forced to write anal and ridiculously long posts such as these. Somehow, I turned into a founding member of the He-man woman-haters club.
And lastly lets see what others have said.

Kokomo88- anyways yeah I would more or less be clueless too...cheese

Missem- So Goose...Where do we send the checks for the dictionary on tape?

Guys (as in everyone not just literal males), know my heart. I was joking to matt about his love for protools yet the popularity the interview would still have among Sean's fans, whether or not they were listening to the interview about protools in specific. And how a majority (even I) would not have a clue about protools. I typed up this anal and wordy piece of crap to show you how much of a joke and unnecessary this was. That and I just wrote a long paper last night so my mind is still in that mode (thats why I included references too..lol).

Hey Mel (can I call ya Mel?). The sarcasam is more dry humor. There is some sarcasam that makes fun of the person and I try not to do that but sometimes it comes out. As far as Pro Tools, I couldn't tell ya what it is. I am one of those clueless ones. Ask Matt (the fiddler).
Oh, I try to make light of things because I feel this board can be way to dry sometimes and kinda..boring. Sorry if it is overdone. It isn't intentionally directed at you (atleast my comments aren't..well wait....this one is..but it isn't of that kind of making fun of you...DOH..nvm). So yeah..any other concerns or problems ya wanna get off your chest? Go ahead and mention me, I seem to be the favorite as the scape goat even though my name is goose...(go figure how that one works...). :D

Oh, I think that maybe I have begun to take these boards just a little too seriously. Goose--I think you, NCFreak, Ornot, and the rest o' y'all are really funny, and for people I dont know, I like ya alot. But SOMETIMES I think you guys can dish it out but ya can't take it. Now anyway, I'm gonna try being a lil less negative. I really am sorry I jumped on you, it was uncalled for. Like so many other threads, this one has gone from a nice discussion to arguing. So let's just forget about it cause it's all good!!:)

So, Sean's new album:

How like Let it Fall do you think it will be? Since there are more vocal tracks (YAY) I think it'll be quite different, also judging from Nickel Creek's evolution since their debut album.

Back on topic....

PS. I also still want to know what the big deal about Pro Tools is that it could cost 33000.

Bryan, that was the best thing I've seen all day... I'm speechless. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me question if I was normal.

*starts to pray that she isn't normal*

Anyway... I don't think this album will be much like Let It Fall, because it has been a couple of years since that one came out and Sean has grown as a musician I'm sure. So, I'm hoping for something different with hints of the older music. *crosses her fingers* [party]

Yep, I would listen to that just to hear his voice. yes, I have no idea what pro tools is. Yes, I love Sean. Yes, he is hot. Yes, Sean rocks and even if the interview was Sean talking about foot fungus I would still listen to it and drool over him.

In reference tot the above, I totally agree with it all.

Staying on topic, I can't wait for Mr. Watkin's new album. I don't think it will be like LIF but that could be a ood thing or a bad thing. I liked the more instrumental side of LIF but more os Sean's voice is always a good hing. I love Chicago!

back on topic, several people have suggseted that 26 Miles is named accordingly because of his age as of tomorrow which will be 26. wow, I think that would be very insightful but I don't think thats it. Why? well, think how long the recording process for the cd takes...then editing.( post production?) and then unlike videos, the cds come out sometimes a decent amount of time after it was finished. I think it is coincidence that once the cd comes out, he will then be 26. So, I have a hard time thinking the song and cd is about him being 26 considering up till tomorrow he has been 25 and under. The only exception to this would be if the song was about again and going to be 26. Like fears, hopes for that year etc..but...kinda doubting that one. anywho..this is just opinion on a topic that had been coming up lately.

Ya never know you could have something there. But, I kinda think we're probably all wrong too once you consider all his other song titles and lyrics and how we're all constantly misunderstanding them...............But, then again, I still say it's always fun to speculate, analyze, and over analyze. :)

I think I'm beginning to agree with anna and someone else who said something like that already. I really like the 26 years old thing, but even when we hear it we're still not going to know what the heck he is talking about. That's half the fun!!

I have a question to ask of anyone in particular:
Does anyone know for sure if Sean's song 'Chicago' is going to be on 26 miles? I heard it on a (very awesome) live recording of them that I got with Chris And Mike Marshall on it as well... anyway, It's a pretty neat song, but the 'liveness' of the sound does no justice to the lyrics. If anyone has any suggestions as to the words to the song, please let me know, that would be cool!

i just got a live sean and sara show and they did one of the songs sean said would be on his new solo cd called letters never sent. they also did sean's version of locking doors which ROCKS!

Thanks for the research paper, Goose:-) By the way, Ia ma girl, Ia m clueless about protools and I love to hear Sean's voice. I don't care if you make fun of me-hey, I make fun of me! Doesn't everyone make fun of everyone? Why are people getting so mad? sheesh MAny a time, I've been tempted to make fun of some people here, but I hold my fingers because people take things too seriously.
