View Full Version : Sara in Country Weekly Magazine

Hey guys, there is a picture of Sara in this weeks' Country Weekly Magazine under the Style section. It was taken at the CMA's.
She is also mentioned in a section called Spotted (or something like that) that tells about where various country artists have been spotted in Nashville. It says she was seen in a coffee shop with a male friend. Can you imagine? Oh the shock and scandal! ;)
Anyway, it looks like Chris isn't the only one who gets singled out by the press after all.

male friend? WHA? QUICK, BRYAN, ORNOT, TO THE SPECIALLY DESIGNED CAVE W/O A COOL HIP NAME THAT WE GO TO FOR JUST SUCH EMERGENCIES WHEN A THREATENING SITUATION LIKE THIS ARISES! Man, I need to move to Nashville and start visiting coffee shops. It'd prolly help if I drank coffee too.

latteboy?
Hey I can see the headlines now
SARCASTIC BASTARDS DEFEAT LATTEBOY IN HORRIFIC COFFESHOP BATTLE!
:p Too funny!!! Joce you and I can be the witnesses on the news
Amy: I've never seen anything like it.
Joce: There was coffee EVERYWHERE.
Amy: Have you ever thought how the three of them are gonna share her?
Joce: I can't think about that, just all the poor innocent coffee that was lost.
Goose_17
02-06-2003, 09:35 PM
and you forgot the rest of the headline ...all over an apparent stumbling by Sara, the fiddle girl (say it like a superhero name...it sounds cool) where she incidentaly spilt coffee on her male friend.
and when the rest of NC was told about the incident and asked for a response they replied:
chris : there was a brawl? was sara talking about love b/c i totally understand what its like to spill things then. oh, which coffee shop? the one next to starbucks? oh dude! they have such great coffee there. almost as good as coffee in france where they speak french there..so that's cool... (note..chris is THE man..so this is all in fun liamandclara..just paying some homage (sp?) to a hero of mine. plz don't kill me)
sean: wow, that sucks. the guy had coffee spilt on him and got smacked around by a guy w/a gun, garfield, and a goose...all in the same day. and yes, you can find the defintion for sucks under the 18th volume of Sean Watkins reads the dictionary box set on cd, cassette, and now dvd format.

it was a sad, sad day for coffeshops everywhere. latteboy will be missed by his good friends
Sweet.

They are currently mourning him in the creamery.
I would like everyone to remove their hats and the plastic lids on their coffee cups in honour of Latteboy. May he soar with the angels.

the funniest part is that he prolly reads the boards here too...great..so i have two ppl going to kill me..this guy and liamandclara...well..i'm surpised its only two..
Somehow I think if L.B. (latteboy) reads these boards he's very unconcerned!! Because at the end of the day he's having coffee with the lovely and talented Ms. Sara and we're here dreaming up superhero adventures and bylines! Besides Liamandclara seems to be a sweetheart, I'm sure she'd realize we're just having fun with this.:) Besides if the report had said Sean was having coffee with some girl I'd prolly want to trip her.

i'm sure it was actually someone like derek or felding etc and the somebody who reported it was just an idiot looking to make headlines by leaving it ambigious. trying to cast some kinda of small bit of tabloid attn to our sweet n' innocent surfer girl (okay okay..body boarder girl but same think sorta). for all we know it could of been a guy who works their giving her her order. sorry again if i jumped to conclusions. i think it was more just for the good laughs of our delusional antics towards Sara.
oh..and is this a scam? i thought this was a rumor. i didn't know people were getting ripped off...missed that part.

02-07-2003, 11:59 AM
Exactly, Goose, even if it was a guy friend or a boyfriend for that matter it is really none of our business. I only posted about it because I thought that it was pretty rediculous that they even mention it. I mean all you have to do is read her website journals to know that she goes to coffee shops with friends all the time. What's the big deal? Why even bother putting something like that in a magazine anyway? Also, the main point of my post was just to let people know that she was getting some recognition and that her pic was in the magazine b/c I know how much some of the guys here love seeing new pics of her.

I'm sorry matt, I didn't think anyone would take it seriously or anything. I didn't realize how my intent might be misunderstood. I just thought that everyone would think it was silly that the magazine printed something like that in the first place, as I did. since we all know matt so well...will someone please describe a starbucks person for me? I think its funny because I imagine a picture for a starbucks person, as a young twenty-somethings that drives a smaller more environmentally friendly car like a volks wagon (people with a very retro city look) and have a very college look to them. Then I see other people of a certain type who hate starbucks and view it as big business and think big business is the great satan. Or just people of a well-off community w/ their big suv's and kids soccer games and neighborhood association meetings and PTA. The only thing I like about starbucks is the atmosphere/music (I've heard Nickel Creek. They were playing house carpenter and the sinatra is good along w/Louie too)..so what do I do? I go down the street to a nice gas station we have called QuikTrip, buy a 24 oz. french vanilla cappucino for twice as less as what I would have paid at starbucks then go back to starbucks to hang out with my friends there. Not to mention, I had a cappucino at starbucks...it tasted nasty. Now maybe I like the generic type that truly isn't what coffee people people would define as cappucino but i don't friggin care. its good and sweet and doesn't cost me what I would pay for a value meal at a fast food place. oh..no one be offended...I love vw's.

ummm yeah don't mean to sound mean but it gets annoying when people keep sayin the exact same things other people have said... threads like sean's eye, solo album, here to there, and speak.
I personally don't care!! Matt-we were kidding. Of course no one wishes anyone anywhere ill will and I thought that was more than obvious by the outlandish tone of our posts. It was late, I got silly I'm SORRY if I offended anyone. I just thought the responses by the guys were funny and responded in kind.
I called her Ms. Sara as a sign of repsect because Miss reminds me of a five year old. When I taught dance I had to sign everything Miss Amy and it seemed very juvenile to me. Plus I have a customer who's name is Miss Something Or Other and she's like eighty five and I'm thinking that's a little silly.

You guys, this is sad. Seems like everyone's out to kill each other just because somebody was trying to have a good-time and somebody else taking it seriously or the wrong way. People, we need to get along, especially at these times. It's sad and depressing what we are going through, yes, and that's why somepeople try and have a good time. Try and not take things so seriously, it's okay if you're joking...only if you are joking. Some posts are just flatt out absurd, and I admit, I have had some of those, but most of them were just for fun. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone in anyway at ANY time...I'm sorry.
All I'm saying in this post is that we just need to get along. Times now are rough and we need to respect people. Life is too short, as we saw just recently.
No, I'm not going through something, this is comming from the heart because it is ridiculous what you people are doing. And it's not all of you, it's some of you and I know you were doing it just to have fun, but there are people who take it seriously.
I'm sorry if I have repeated myself or whatever. I just had to throw in my two cents, which seems like it was quite a few more.

i can't really afford it in real life to be considered a true strarbucks nut......[dont' see paying $4.00 for a moca with a shot of expresso in it a normal occurance] - however there is one i walk by to get to class every day, and it is covered on our meal plans [free coffee paid by scholarships- THAT is college]-- personally i like starbucks a lot- but nothing beats a good cup of industrial/ ulcer stregenth beans from guatemala..... mmmmmmm or kona coffee... mmmmmmmmm... none of that folgers/ see through stuff restraunts brew :-)

Being that my screen name is missem...I take offense to the miss comments. Sorry, I just wanted to be part of the group and be offended too! By the way Miss is the proper title. You should just call her Ice Queen like Sean and Chris. It would solve this debate!
Maybe the boys' cult should start staking out Starbucks stores. Evidently NC is Starbuck material.
I am a coffee person. Nothing beats Carmel macchiatos (double up on the cup, gotta long way to go!) But, I have to drink it early int he day or I can't sleep at night. Even if I drink it in early afternoon I toss and turn. I would drink more if I could afford it and if I could sleep after drinking it. OH well.
Sorry I offended you too. It's amazing that one little typing error can cause so many people to make snipy remarks. I apologize for my fingers and any insult they caused to anyone, anywhere for referring to Sara as Ms. I will do my best to never again type anything in error that will offend anyone. I may simply start typing in numbers. [sosad]

We don't do much surfing (or bodyboarding) here in Cincy, so I have a really silly question. (I know living 10 hours or so from the nearest ocean is no excuse, but...) What's the difference between bodyboarding and surfing? I know when you surf, you stand on the board, blah, blah, blah. When you body board do you lay on the board? I really don't know. Please don't laugh to hard at my ignorance. [bang] :D
Cassie
Fiddlechic Erin
02-10-2003, 11:01 PM
You're right about the standing up/laying down thing, but the main difference lies in the board itself. Surfers either ride a (aptly named) longboard or shortboard. The boards all have different types of cores, but most have a cover of fiberglass. Longboarder riders tend to just calmy ride a wave (while doing fancy footwork), while shortboard riders do a lot of wild tricks.
As for bodyboards, the length depends on the rider. When a rider stands a board up on its end, the tallest it should be is a little over the rider's bellybutton, and no taller. Bodyboards are usually made out of foam, which has earned us the nickname spongers (often used in a sneering manner by surfers  ). Bodyboarders also wear fins (and fin socks sometimes, because the fins are usually made of thick rubber and can hurt one's feet), whereas surfers can't because they need to stand up on the board. If you want to see what bodyboarders look like when they're out on the water, there's some pictures at www.netbb.com -under hot pics.
I hope that makes sense... I often don't. :D

I don't know about the other girls in here, but I do not like Nickel Creek just because Sean and/or Chris is so freaking hott. Yeah, I know I do say that and I am absolutley in love with Sean, but that's not the reason why I like Nickel Creek. I'm kinda of a late-bloomer but it wasn't 'til This Side that I was really drawn to Nickel Creek. I've seen a couple of their videos and I thought they were okay, just not my type of music. But it was something about This Side that drew me. I started humming the melody a lot and then singing and before ya know it, I'm buying the CD. I don't know if it is their harmonies, or their lyrics, or their instrumentation, or their song-writing skills, that made me drawn to them. Maybe it is because they are so young and they are so talented, maybe that's why I'm so drawn to them. It's not about their looks, even though that's what people may think when I say that so-and-so in a band is so freaking hott. It is the music that counts...it is just a plus that Chris, Sean, and Sara are good-looking people. And I'm sure that they don't wanna be liked just because they are good-looking, I'm sure that's the least of their worries, they just want to touch people with their music.
Sorry if this is so long or whatever, I just wanted to get that out. :)

I used to be a teenybopper. I liked all that Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears, and Christina howeveryouspellherlastname. It, personally, got very boring for me. None of them played instruments and some didn't write their own songs. Then I got into country music. I DO like some of those new country bands like Rascal Flatts and Emerson Drive. Just because they're young, and it's a band of all good-looking males, people confuse them with boy bands........and they are definently not. Whoa, I'm kinda gettin' off topic here, but I guess I just wanna say 'I'm not a teenybopper'. There!

I just meant that I DO get drool-y over people. Also, Goose, I hope you know that my cartoon and link are all in fun (in retaliation to the Captain Obvious Thing). No snarkiness intended.

You didn't offend me. When you said 'teenybopper' that's what I thought of. Sorry!

teenyboppers? aren't those the little artificially flavoured things that come in little plastic things that look like kegs???
I'm soooo confused- somehow you people always manage to confuse me.

So the board is to go no higher than the person's navel. Sean's board must be a baby. Does he pay less because his board is so small. He should. I pay less for shoes cause I wear children sizes. Aye???? They wear fins? Why? That is bound to look stupid. That Cloudbreak observation is really neat. I think it is a good possibility that Sean had that in mind. Seems like a Sean thing to do.

Well, it's supposed to be no higher than a person's navel, but it can also be up to personal preference, though it usually doesn't go much higher or lower than that area. And I don't think he'd pay less for his board unless it was REALLY small, like a children's board, which I don't think he could ride.
And actually, it looks really stupid when a bodyboarder doesn't wear fins. Usually, the people who don't bodyboard often stay on the inside break (where the waves break near the shore) and thus do not wear fins, because the water is shallow and they can stand up. But the serious bodyboarders go on the outside break (where the waves break farther out in the water) and thus they must wear fins because they can't touch the bottom.
A bodyboarder needs fins to give more power to their kick- you'd be surprised at how useless your legs and feet are when you're on the outside break with no fins. It can be dangerous not to wear fins, too, because if you get caught in a rip current or a side current, wearing fins is the only way to get yourself out of it. A lot of the time the lifeguard boat will come over and tell anyone on the outside break without fins to move to the inside break.

well, so long as they serve a purpose, I guess. You are very knowledgable about bodyboarding. That is neat! About Sara...somehow, I think just guys would look stupid in fins, not girls. But after an explanation the fin thing does sound reasonable.

Well.. I admit we do look pretty silly after we've put our fins on and are walking down to the water. [lolol]

Awww, this sounds really fun!! I wish I lived near a larger body of water! Can you body board at Virginia Beach? That's where we're going for vaca this year.

I don't know about Virginia Beach- I've never been to the east coast. But as long as they have waves, I'm sure it'll be fine. :D

I told my parents I wanted to body board on vaca, and they just looked at each other and started laughing so hard. I didn't think it was very funny. But maybe they're right, I'm not exactly a water person. But it sounds like soooo much fun!!!!
(What was this post supposed to be about?)[think har
