So I was first introduce to Nickel Creek on 4/7 at Somerville. I chose to go b/c I like bluegrass and I needed to write a paper for my music class on a live performance of a type of music that I have never played before. Needless to say I left the concert with the CD (I would have bought the solo CDs, but I am a college student and therefore broke). Since it was my first time to an NC concert, and I don't know this music scene that well there were a lot of songs I did not recognize. For my paper I need to have the titles and descriptions of the songs. Is there anyone out there who has the setlist from last night, or a vague notion of what was played? This is driving me nuts [bang]
Anyway, I am definitely now a convert to the group following. I'm grateful to my music class for introducing me to NC. :D Thanks for any help you can give me!

2)the lighthouses tale
3)Reasons why
4)fedinand the bull?
5)Let it fall
6)Great Illusion
7)In the House of Tom Bombadil
8)Decomposing Whale Song
9)Green and Grey
10)You dont have to move that mountain
11) a song about a carpenter
12)Ode to a butterfly
13)The Fox
14)When you come back down (acoustic)
15) a song Sara sang very beautifully
 well thats alot of the songs that i can remember, they might not be all of them and the might not be in order, it was a very very good show, my first time seeing them live, and fom where i was sitting, its made me quite spoiled:p well i hope this helped you out! good luck on the paper!

FYI: I believe Great Illusion is now called 7 wonders and the decomposing whale song is called Think About Your Troubles-it's by Harry Nilsson from The Point Soundtrack-which is really funny if you can get it

The song about the carpenter is The House Carpenter which is an old folk song...I think I first heard it on a Joan Baez album.
But for Regan's benefit--you wouldn't be familiar with most of that material even if you were a lifelong devotee of bluegrass! <g>
Nickel Creek doesn't draw from standard bluegrass repertoire for the most part. (Is that an understatement? <g>).
The Fox is another folk song, but other than that they wrote everything on your list except Think About Your Troubles--Harry Nillsen, When You Come Back Down--Tim O'brien/Danny O'keefe, and You Don't Have to Move that Mountain--Keith Whitley.
The closing song might have been the hymn -- Be Thou My Vision...they've been doing that a lot.
Good luck with your paper!

i don't remember all the songs. i know sometimes they do some songs from little cowpoke, then there are the new songs like seven wonders, lockin doors, think about your troubles, chicago, and there are 2 more new ones i think. every time i have seen them they preform them in a different order and just keep things fun.

i have a live cd with a song that they said was supposed to be a spooky song in dedictation to halloween but didn't give the title. it was driving me nuts that i didn't know what the song was called or that i didn't have the lyrics because i couldn't quite understand what he was singing. so i insterted some of the lyrics that i did understand in a search engine and found out that it's the house carpenter song! i'm in love with this song they did a great job with it!

I remember that song, they played it when I saw them a week or so before halloween!! They do a pretty cool version don't they? (i thought i gave you the setlist, sarah? or maybe i didn't know the song at the moment, it took awhile to finally figure every song on the set)
