It's about a four and a half hour drive for me, but I've pretty much talked my best friend in to going with me. I'm slowly converting her into a NC fan. ;) Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else was planning on going. Also, how much do tickets usually cost? Thanks... ~Jennifer~

awesome!! I dragged my best friend along with me to my last concert. It will be so much fun! Get in the front if you can, you will want to be down there if they do their acoustic with no sound system encore!! I have seen tickets range from $20-25. So they shouldn't be more than $30. Hope you get to go. have fun!! :D

Hey Sarah. You were sooo right. This board is much better. I broused for a while and found no haters like the other one. Maybe I'll find someone on here to hook up with in Blacksburg. So far, none of my friends are NCers. I'm working on it.
By the way, Buttercup was a stupid Power Puff reference that I'm now apparently stuck with. It's actually Tammy.

well welcome Tammy!! and we pride ourselves on not having any haters, but we do have a lot of sacastic-ers on here:p and I hope you do meet up with someone at the concert, that will surely make things funner(is that a word?) anyways it's always fun to be around diehard fans!!

I can officially say that 'funner' is not a word. Sarcastic is good. Thanks for the invite. I'm still new to these things and I'm trying to figure them out. I don't even know how to use those little smiley face thingies. Pathetic, huh?[bang] Hey, maybe I got it. Now all I need is for Nickel Creek to come to D.C. Then all would be right with the world - and I wouldn't have to drive across the state.

Hi all! This is officially my first post! I've been looking for a good NC board to freak out about going to a concert...One of my bro's friends and I are going to drive to VT from West Virginia to see them, and I am so excited. :D
They actually did a concert about an hour away from us in the fall of 2001...and I didn't go.... *kicking self*

I know this is an old thread, but oh well...
So was this show awesome or what??? I seriously thought it was the best concert I'd been to ever, but this is my first one of NC's... I absolutely loved the new songs they sang...And the encores were totally great. Not to mention the tapdancing/clogging bass player. :)
Afterwards, I got a t-shirt signed by Chris & Sara and got pictures, too. I totally forgot my camera, but the guy in line beside me took pictures and said he would send them to me by email. Fellow fans are the greatest...
SO much better than the CDs. They totally rocked out. And the fact that they would stick around and sign stuff, take pictures, and actually talk to people was great. The only thing that disappointed me was that Sean wasn't signing... :( He was the one I really wanted to see...Oh, well, I definitely want to go to another show soon, even if I have to drive.

I really wanted to know how the Blacksburg show went! Thank you for posting!!:)
That's funny about Sean, and how he's the one you wanted to see...becuase the night before, I really wanted to see Chris, but HE wasn't signing. I got picks with Sean and Sara. Isn't Sara the sweetest!? I love how she chats with her fans!
I missed meeting Chris though. :(
UVA in Charlottesville was my first concert!
Do you know Mark the Bass players last name? My brother and I are trying to determine who he is...We think it's Mark Schatz.
He clogged at the UVA show too! Awesome show! WOW! If it's possible I lvoe NC even more now! hehe!
Anyway...I am so glad you had an awesome concert experience! Can you tell me more about it? Like...for example, were there many people around you that knew there songs really well? Did people sing along?
And lastly...what was it like meeting Chris?

I went to the Blacksburg show too, and it was also my first NC. The place was pretty much packed and everybody was on their feet at the end. Sean didn't sing much but I was very impressed by his playing - I will pay more attention to him. I didn't think I'd get to meet Chris (my personal favorite) because Sarah came out first and she was swarmed. But when Chris came out he wormed his way through the crowd to spread them out some and he ended up standing right beside me. He was completely sweet and very casual and comfortable with everyone.
I loved the new song where Chris sings the female and Sarah sings the male parts. I will definitly go again - hopefully Fredericksburg.

buttercup1972-
did you go to the Cville show too?
and thank you for sharing your concert experience!
AND Nickel Creek should Definitely come to D.C. but PLEASE sometime when I am not out of state! That's why I can't make the Norfolk show in June!

Hey BanjoSmile
No, I didn't go to that one. I am going to Bonnaroo - mainly because of NC. I wanted to go to Norfolk, but I couldn't get off work. And YES they need to come to DC - that would make me a happy little camper.[party]

oops for me...I should have read more carefully! If Blacksburg was your first show, then of course you couldn't have gone to the Cville show the night before! Silly me!
Take care!

The Charlottesville and Blacksburg concerts were both amazing! Its neat to see the different dynamics of the two different crowds, especially with one being outdoors and the other in a big hall.
They played a few new tunes which were amazing so be on the look out. One of them they called at the Charlottesville concert tune in A or something like that. They also played a combination of the Blacksmith and Crooked Jack which was pretty sweet!
I got a few pictures so if anyone wants to see them let me know and I'll email them or post them.
later,
Julia:)

both of you MUST post your concert pics!! I really would like to see them! :D
and Tammy it's so great to hear how much you enjoyed your first concert, and I can't wait to go on Friday and see them at Auburn, I want to hear Chris sing the female parts and Sara sing the male parts of a song. That sounds so funny! :p
How are they at outside venues? do they do the usual no-mic encores? I wonder how long they are going to play too, since it's a free show, I'm thinking they wont play as much.

I thought it was a really cool atmosphere--everyone was into it, not like some concerts I've been to where it seems like people were dragged there. No one around us was really singing, but we were kinda far back. I could hear people singing along more up front (especially during songs like Lighthouse that everyone knew). I thought it was really sweet how they got Sara flowers. She seemed so flattered.
She was so sweet in person. I was basically in the back of the line, and she walked back to the place where I was standing and started signing & stuff. The guy in front of her had her sign a liner thing from the Lighthouse single, and she said, Oh my gosh, this is so airbrushed. :) I said that I'd really enjoyed the show, especially Be Thou My Vision, which is my favorite hymn. She said, Yeah, it's a great one. No one can screw it up. She is so naturally pretty and has such cool clothes, too. I got stuff signed with Chris & a picture too (eventually).
I would love to see any pics when they get developed. I will post mine when I get 'em. Also, did anybody tape the show? I heard they were cool with that, and I wish I had...
If only they would come closer to WV...

The outside venues are pretty cool bc everyone is standing up and dancing and singing along. I have seen them play without the mics before in outdoor shows but they didn't this time, prolly b/c there were so many people and you really wouldn't be able to hear from the back. They did sing Lighthouse Tale for the encore though.
The concert at VTech was one where everyone was sitting down and it sounded like people were afraid to get up and cheer and get into it until others did it first. They played without mics during the second encore which was awesome and the acoustics in the hall sounded pretty good from where I was standing. Anyways, both shows were incredible. My only complaint was they didn't play When you come back down. Not to worry, the rest of the show made up for it.
Once I figure out how to post pics I will. I'm pretty much failing at figuring out how but send me your email address and I'll email you all pics.

Jules--
That bothered me too. I love that song. I saw the video on CMT, and it was the first one of theirs that I ever heard. I was sure they'd play it for the encore, too... Oh, well.
My friend was so psyched, though, that they played Sweet Afton. It's like his favorite song ever. He actually wrote a paper on the Burns poem for English because he liked the song so much.
But it was so cool that I can't complain.

Yeah, I wish they had sang When you come back down also - and Hanging by a thread - I love that one. But since the show was so great the only thing to complain about is wanting more.
And thanks for the advice about staying after the show Sarah - I probably wouldn't have done that if you hadn't said something - meeting Chris made a great night even better.

:D no prob Tammy! I wouldn't have stayed if no one had told me at the concert either.
oh and I totally agree about Hanging by a Thread, I LOVE that song and they didn't do it at the concert I went to either. that stinks that you missed out on WYCBD, I can't believe they didn't play THAT one! it's one of my all time favs. chances are the next one you go to they will play it!
