*gets down on her knees and begs her fellow nc fans to help her*

hey guys!! in case you haven't been following the disappointed florida fan thread, we're starting an online petition of fans in florida trying to let the band know how much we want them to come here *desperate I know hehe*. Anyways on the site I'd like to help convince florida fans who aren't entirely sure if they NEED to see nc in concert - so if anyone is willing could you write up a concert review or story you have, to let me post on the site????

BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!! FLORIDA WILL LOVE YOU ALWAYS!!! :D

better than that- convince some venu around that creek would be profatable/ good for them to beign them to play .. venus have the $ and resources to pull of stuff that a couple of fans can't.. take the petition to the venu as well.???

So pass along the petition to a venue also?? Okey-doke!! That'll take some looking . . . need to decide what would be a good venue for them . . . hmm [think har

Plus Matt (glad you replied here!!), I was gonna ask you for suggestions of where to get some pics I can legally use of the band on the petition site . . . Photos aren't necessary but they'd be a nice touch to throw in . . .

Thanks!!!

i mean instead of petitioning the venu.. the venu is the real person who has the power to bring in a group... find some one who does admin work for a venu/ booking- and talk to them... if they are slow to accept.. play the musci- or find a way to support it..

Okay - my Mom and I are going to be looing for venues here, so we may get one to help us - I hope so!!! Although I'm NOT really that hopefully we'll actually GET them here - I just thought it'd be a nice show of support, ya know??

Really tell the administrators or whoever how much monety could be made. I went to a concert at a club in Cinci. This club usually has bands that are very hard rock. After the NC concert we overheard a worker say that our crowd was the largest he had ever seen there (and also the nicest crowd). I think the rarity of a Florida NC concert would drive sales up even more. Let the venues know how badly many people want it. If I were down there now I would help. When I get there I will check around Gainesville.

Um, not to rain on anyone's parade, but the reason that NC hasn't been to FL yet is probably mostly because promoters haven't been convinced that it would be successful.

I can't tell you how many times people swore to me that a bazillion people would come to see (insert name of favorite band here) when I was booking shows... and (I've never understood why, maybe the percentage of retired folks) but Florida has typically been a tougher market for non-mainstream music than most other places.

The best approach would be to create a petition *in a specific city*, get several hundred names on it, and pitch that to a talent buyer in that city. Since the booking agency probably knows that there won't be as large an audience in a new market, they'd probably be willing to go into a smaller place (800-1000 seats) which means lower risk for the promoter.

But pitching it as a you'll make tons of money probably won't get you very far... if a promoter thought s/he could make big bucks doing a NC show, you can bet that they would be pestering the booking agency for a date.

Thanks for the insight Chip!

I hope this doesn't sound like you'll make loads kind of thing - I'm really not trying to get that across . . . I mainly wanted this to be a little note of apprecation, just letting them know they had a fan base here (however small it may turn out to be), and if anything bigger came of it, GREAT, if not, then it was fun and a good excuse to meet other FL fans online . . .

We were thinking of trying to get them to play House of Blues in Orlando, since it's centrally located in the state, and it's a fairly small venue. I hadn't thought of a talent buyer - and really am not even too sure what one is. Could you pm me with some more specific info if you have time?? I know we have less than a month to get this together now, but it'd be nice to at least get thirty-to-fifty sigs - almost seems kind of mocking to have less [guilty]

I've noticed the lack of an alternative market here; so depressing. I lived in Vermont for awhile, the radio up there was GREAT, but you get down here and everything sounds like New Found Glory. :( I think we do have a bluegrass market though, not sure how bluegrass NC would be taken as though. And then we have tons of colleges, and NC is a little Dave Matthews-ish - so maybe that's a potential target area?? I dunno . . .
