hey everyone,

i know we all come from diverse spiritual backgrounds and differing opinions on the war with Iraq. i also know that many of you are people of prayer. my intention here is not to start a political or religious debate, but simply to share something that may be helpful to those of you who do pray, as the U.S. has now officially gone to war. i came across a website called www.presidentialprayerteam.org. there is a link on this site where you can adopt a military service person for prayer. the site gives you the first name and what branch of the military the person is from, and you can print out a certificate that reminds you to pray for the person, their family, and our President. whether or not you agree with the war with Iraq, i think it is important to pray for the safety of our troops who are over there, that our governmental leaders would be wise in their decision-making, and that they will find the faith they need in this time of uncertainty.

God Bless,
<>< holly

thankyou for this, I served in the last gulf conflict and old colleagues of my mine are serving in the British 16th Air Assault Division. I find it touching and just hope that Service personnel and their families are aware that caring people from all faiths are with them in spirit

yeah! I'm so glad you posted this. I just got an e-mail about it and adopted a Marine to pray for. and his name sounds VERY familiar, it's weird. I also registered my brother in it. He's a Marine too. :D

Our troops kick ace. They kill more quickly and efficiently than any other country's armed forces.

Thanks for the web address, Holly. I just registered and now have someone from the Army to pray for. I have been praying for wisdom for our leaders and safety for our troops, and now have a name to place in my prayer. I have heard of adopt a soldier websites in which you are able to email a soldier, possibly one who has not been sent into the war zone, but have not been able to find the website. Does anyone have the web address?

Again, much thanks Holly!

Take care everyone,
Kathy

Here's a place you can email them from:

The Dear Abby Project - sponsored by the military:
http://anyservicemember.navy.mil/

You can't pick a particular service member, but you can narrow it down to a particular branch of the service :)

Thanks for the info!! I'm going to sign up now. My father and my boyfriend's father were both Air Force, but I'd rather not choose a particular branch of the miltary. I feel even more compelled to write to a soldier especially since the grenade attack in Kuwait yestrday. I can't believe an American soldier would turn on his own company! Our troops are in dire need of all of our support and prayers.
