I must start by thanking toodaloo b/c (as anyone who read the Atlanta show 4/29 post knows) I wouldn't have been able to go to this concert. I'm a little sleepy considering I went to Atlanta and back last night but I thought y'all might be interested in the details. Again-if anyone was there and wants to add-amend please do-my memory's not perfect and I didn't write everything down like I've done before.
They played all of their typical stuff: Lighthouse, Tom Bombadil, Ode, The Fox, The Hand Song etc. , Big Sam Thompson, Let it Fall
They played their typical new/additional stuff: This Side, Green and Grey, Chicago, Locking Doors, 7 Wonders, Think About Your Troubles, the thing for 2 mandolins and unplayed bass, etc.
This was their last show b4 off to Europe and they played a Randy Newman(sp?) tune called America I think. They also played this song that they are recording when they go to Europe at Abbey Road(Chris seemed really jazzed about that)-I think the song will be an extra track in Europe or something. In the midst of that we got to hear their lovely English accents that Sara referred to once in a journal.
Here's the best part-They did The Fox as an encore of course and then came out again-I've never seen them do this but they've prob done this before. Anyway, they all came to the edge of the stage, unplugged their instruments, no mics, and sang When You Come Back Down and Be Thou My Vision-it was truly amazing-like they were sitting in your den playing for you.
As for the crowd, it was different from the one's I've been too before-There were lots of people there-it was sold out- and I think there were lots that had just kind of heard of them-especially at the Birmingham show, there were mainly big fans, also it was a bar/theatre so that was a different feel that having it at a library.
Well, I hope that's of interest to someone and thanks again toodaloo(the check's in the mail as they say). Another thanks to Matt and everyone that makes this unofficial club possible b/c w/o this I wouldn't have gotten tickets. :D Hmm, I wonder if we'll ever get to be official and have buttons and such that say official member of the Nickel Creek fan club. That would be great.
