Saw them in Glasgow last night after what felt like the longest week of my life...

...they were absolutely fantastic, played loads of new stuff we haven't had a chance to hear over here yet. they looked like they were having a blast and the audience just lapped it up. they got two standing ovations and did two encores - one acoustic.

i got to meet them afterwards (and was a complete inarticulate gibbering wreck) and they were really sweet and signed by album cover and had a smile for everyone.

i've got pictures but they aren't developed yet. as soon as they are i'll post them up or email them if you like.

man, it was so good!

Apparently, they were supposed to play as a support act to Natalie Merchant on May 24th in Amsterdam. But that was cancelled, and now there's a showcase scheduled sometime at the end of the month (also in Amsterdam).

And if it's as good as the Glasgow show...

All the best,
Marcel (NL)

Hi that's me!!
I'm glad to hear you had such a good time last night - did you stay in Glasgow or get the train back down to Manchester? I had an apalling hangover the day after the London Gig (btw, I'm from Sheffield not London - 2 days there is more than enough for me!!)

Anyway, that's beside the point - did they do the Bob Dylan version of 'the Fox'?. It sounds as though they did a few different songs, so hopefully by the time I've been to Dublin I'll have heard the whole lot.

Anyway, I'd best get some sleep now - I'll report back from Dublin.

All the best

well hello

are we going to have to start up a uk fan club or what!?

i stayed in glasgow at some hostel for a tenner - too a couple of days off and had a really good time. glasgow was glorious

sorry for lack of knowledge of bob dylan is the fox the one that goes really fast - that bob harris played last night? if so then yes, they did that thing where they slipped into nirvana, of, and they covered travis' circle because it was local which was a really nice touch.

what else did they do... erm, most of the current album - including sweet afton obviously, let it fall, locking doors, the whale song, the lords coming, trouble, grey and green, 7 something...
an amazing set, tons of stuff.

i was second row so very pleased with the view. i can officially say i've duetted with chris on when you come back down!! and he mentioned it afterwards which was sort of embarrassing...

i know they flew over yesterday so they should be enjoying dublin now. give us a report back

I shall have to be h#2 to avoid confusion :) will change my signature accordingly.

I went and missed Bob Harris last night - too busy putting small child to bed and I didnt remember till 8 - were the tracks recorded at Merlefest, or were they straight off the album?

I don't recall any nirvana or other covers - so much of it was stuff that i'd not heard before. The view at the Borderline was terrible - there was a huge pillar in the way and could only see 2 of the band at a time by leaning to either side of it - plus ridiculously tall person standing bang in front of me. Nevermind - we're going to get there earlier tomorrow - hopefully take some phote's too.

I pressganged 2 mates into coming with me - they were both highly dubious and only agreed to come 'cause I rarely see them in London (potentially a waste of 2 hot tickets) - anyway it only took 2 numbers and they were hooked! - hurrah. Gary's getting really excited - he's working on his MSc in computing at the moment and has had to put in very late nights to make up for the 2 days out of his schedule. I've just been making long lists for the in-laws who are coming up to look after stan . God I'm rambling - sorry.

Anyway, better do some work I suppose, that's what they pay me for afterall!

Think of me as I sail the high seas to Ireland in the morning!

I heard it from a salesrepresentative from Warner Music. Warner has now released the first album here in Holland. Better late than never, I say.
