Hey kids!! Look what Momma's gone and done now!! I had the NC girl tattooed on my arm for my 44th birthday...kinda looks like my 1st grade school pic...haircut and all:D So now everywhere I go people ask about it and I have the opportunity to share a little NC info with those who don't recognize her. I was looking for Sean's new CD in Wal-Mart the other day and a man who had played bluegrass with Bluegrass Express asked about it and I picked up the This Side CD and showed him and after we talked a minute, he went over to the checkout and purchased it!! Anyway, just thought I'd share it with you all...the picture from my webcam doesn't really do it justice, but it gives you the idea.

Hey Bart!!
I guess I've been listening for about 2 years now. I've been in and around the music biz all my life. I was just so impressed with these kids when I first heard them, and for this old girl that's a big deal!! I've been doing the street team thing for about a year or so. And I received an autographed guitar from the band at Christmas. My husband is a professional tattoo artist, so he suggested the tat...it's my screensaver...and I loved the idea!! I'm going to Memphis in May, and to Little Rock on May 25th, so I'm hoping to get a pic with the band and my work of art...think they'll like it???

Yes they will love it. I will like it to since I will be at the Memphis show. Hopefully I can see ya there

Cool...it'll be fun[party] Look for me there...I'm sure you'll be able to spot the art and know who I am:D If not, then I'll be with my husband who will probably totally stick out from all the other people...he has hair down to his waist and is covered in tattoos[bigeyes] He looks like he should be in a mosh pit somewhere, but he is a HUGE Nickel Creek fan!! He was a musician before becoming a tattoo artist...still a musician, just not getting paid for it. We've only seen them in concert one time and we both loved it. Some friends of ours from Little Rock will be playing the Memphis show also...Evanescence...so we are very much looking forward to some good music on the river. Hope to see you there!!

i forgot to say in my other post THATS SOO COOL TAT2QUEEN! MAJOR PROPS!
mando_fan, do u want one like i described or like tat2queen's?? just wondering thats all. i want one like tat2queen's also just not as big.. maybe on my right shoulder blade...

wow... um.. I don't think I want what tat2queen has. It's a little over the tops for me. I think what you made in paint, obsessed, is more my style. I think I would get it on my back, on my shoulder blade too!! That would rock! Right one too! :D I've thought about a tattoo, but I wasn't sure what. But what you put it something that even I would think of putting on me! lol

You guys are absolutely right in first...thinking it over...and second...choosing something that you will want on your body for the rest of your life. I think the crown tattoo is simple and appropriate for most people. I am, by nature, over-the-top on most things I do, so this HUGE little girl on my arm suits me well. It's not the only tattoo I have (guess you would've figured that out by my screen name) but at this point it is the biggest (will be changing that later this month). And while I dig Nickel Creek, and wouldn't have put it on me if I didn't, I enjoy this pic on its own merit. I get more compliments on it than any of my other pieces, mostly from people who have no idea who the band is. Just be sure to choose your artist/studio wisely when getting your tats....check for health standards and ask to see the artist's portfolio....and take care of it properly afterwards. Friends don't let friends get bad ink :) Make sure you think before you ink[think] Good luck!!

Thanks tat2queen!
I had been thinking about it for a long time. One thing I don't know is where exactly I should go for it, once I decide. I mean, I know that I should avoid a place that looks grungy and gross... but a lot of the places do. I know that it's a little odd for me to think that there's a special tattoo parlor that is white, clean, and a doctor will be the one giving you the tattoo.. :D I mean, I guess that I would have to look around at the places, right? But it's going to be a few years.. so might as well just think on it some more!

Not to be mean or anything but I think tattoes are a desecration to the body but I think I'll let it slide this time since it's NC advertising (Again don't mean to be mean but it's just my opinion among billions).
If I were to get a NC tattoo I would get the little This Side crown.

Well, I think that really really big tattoos are ugly, and bad for your body... I can't stand it when I see a person covered in them. That's why I like the little crown and NC under it. That's all. It would be small, and black, that's all!! nothing over the tops! No offense is meant at all to your tattoo tat2queen. I love it, but I would NEVER do anything like that to my body. :D

You stole my idea!!! LOL Just kidding. I was thinking of doing the same thing with out the 'NC' under it, but on the outside of my right ankle ( with the crown on the inside of my right ankle ). Or on my left wrist, like Keith Urban's tat for example. Two more years. ;) I actually wouldn't mind getting a tattoo. I think it'd be kinda neat. Though I dispise needles... [guilty]

my mom got a tattoo last Christmas and she said it tickled! it was like tiny pricks going in and out really fast and my dad told me she was laughing the whole time. then again it was on the low of her back so maybe it depends where it's at if it hurts or not... ?
my dad got one when he was 19 and he fainted when he saw all the blood! he says tattoos are NOTHING like they used to be!
whats the legal age for tattoos? i'm thinkin 18 so i got 4 more years.. but okie said 2 more years? are u 16 okie? i thot u were 14 like me... i dunno maybe im losing my mind over all this tattoo talk.

I think that the legal age is 18... but I'm not sure. I've gotta wait 3 years! That's not too long of a wait, is it? I think that I will still be a big Creeker fan then! And I'll still be playing my mando! :D
I think it does depend on where you would get it done. I just hope that it wouldn't hurt too much on my right shoulder blade. That's where I've been thinking about putting any tattoo. I've gone through bunch of different things, thinking about what I would want, and that's the only place that I would like it to go. Although, the ankle would be a good spot!

ive thot about how i want a tattoo, but no ideas of what have come to my mind except that one! and i think its a pretty-dang-good one myself! :D
and i asked my dad, you can get a tat at 16 with parental permission.. but i'd like one as a sign of my independence! lol i sound like a crazed teen wanting to be let out of the house...

Wow, tat2queen, how long did it take to get that done? That is amazing! :) I am always so impressed with tattoo artists; how anyone can do so much with minute details is beyond me! Obsessed, I like your idea, too! I had thought about getting a tattoo for my 18th b/day, but I ended up doing, well nothing. I HAD thought about a tattoo, but wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to decide on something. Hmm...maybe now I DO have something...

I am fourteen and the legal age is eighteen, but I think ( and I'm not quite positive on this one ) you can get a tattoo at the age of sixteen with parental supervision in certain states. Again, I'm not quite sure on that one. It also may depend on the state you live in or where you're planning on getting your tattoo.

hummm... I think that I will have to wait quite a long time for my tattoo... my mom thinks that it's just something that will ruin your body... well, depending on the situation, she's right.
I think that I can just sit and wait.. or maybe I can convince my dad to take me! hahaha, just kidding.. :D

Awesome tattoo! I'm getting one either this weekend or the beginning of next week. It's gonna be the crown with the wavy lines, and it's gonna be on my lower back. But it's gonna be really small.

aww that'd be soo cute! i saw some girls walking down my street, (and they weren't classy girls if you get what i mean) and one had a tiny star on the right side of her lower back and the other had a tiny heart and it was really cute but it looked weird because they were off center....
and [sob] i wish i was older~ all these people getting NC tattoos right now makes me sad.. when i finally get one and show Nickel Creek, Sean will be 30!! [sob] [sob] [sob] [sob] i dont even want to imagine that yet .. [bang]

Anyways... You know that you want one! GO AND GET IT! It won't be dangerous if you check out all the possible places! Even I know that you shouldn't just go to the one that you think would be clean. You would have to go and see the different places before you decide! :D

I'm personally not too fond of tattoos. I think some are okay though, and tat2queen's is pretty cool, though I don't think I'd do that. But hey it's a free world. Actually, right now rally week is going on and I've been seeing sooo many tattoos. Well it's kinda odd to drive up to Sturgis when it's not rally week because it's dead. When I say dead I mean Dead! But right now you would not want to go within 10 miles of the town 'cause you'd get stuck in traffic. But back on the subject, if any of you decide to get NC tattoos or any other kind just be sure that it's a legitimate, clean establishment. Right now there are a bunch of RV, portable tattoo parlors in the area.

To answer your question, flutegrl, it took about 2 hours to do my tattoo. And, Okie, you're right that it varies from state-to-state on the regulations. As far as getting a doctor to do it... I'm not sure how many doctors are artists, and most tattoo artists are not doctors. There are, however, licensed professionals like my husband who have apprenticed and learned the trade from a long-time licensed artist. Everyone in his shop is state board of health certified and the artists, as well as the shop, are checked frequently for compliance with the rules. His shop went even further and sent all the artists who work there to the community college to take medical classes regarding bloodbourne and airbourne pathogens (like Hepatitis and Hiv) so they are as well informed as your doctor or dentist on these issues. They use the same sterilization as your dentist and only use needles once, then they are disposed of with the same hazard standards yor hospital would use. If the shop you use is not as up-to-date on health standards and the artist is not willing to discuss this with you, then I would pass. You will find the good/bad in every single profession....it's just up to you to do the research and make the right decision.
