Does anyone have a good method of reducing a gif that is about 210x210 pixels down to something small enough that I can use it as an avtar without the picture becoming illegible? I have been trying to get a pic of a torque-monster :D down to size for almost a week now [bang]

I don't know if this would work, since I'm not a computer literate person, but when I had to shrink my picture down, I used the 'paint' program that's on my computer.
Then, under 'image' go to 'Stretch and Skew' and it should automatically come up as 100%. Just test out numbers that are smaller than 100.
*shrugs* Hope that helps. It worked on the one of mine that you can see now.

I don't have photoshop, but will try paint.
Just realised that I should have put this in off-topic. [think]

Do you have MS Picture It? That comes w/ the new MS Works package. It works great.
In paint, yes...use the Stretch/Skew funtion. To get the percentages, divide 98 (largest allowable avatar for .info) by your largest dimention (210). Take that percentage (46%) and use it for both height and width fields in the stretch/skew.

If you want to, you can send it my way and I can see what I can do in my PhotoSuite 4. It usually stretches and shrinks things without losing clarity.

Yeah, that's why I like MS Picture It. MS Paint is terrible when it comes to pixel/color calculations.

I am using XP, and to be honest am just getting the hang of it. I also don't use MS Works, but Office 2000 Pro.
I DO have Photosuite 3, so if someone can give me coherent instructions on how to re-size without it comeing out awful (as NCF says, it makes a hash job of the pixels in Paint), then I'd appreciate it.
I'll be using either one of 2 pics which I'll link to when the server is back up.

Thanks! That'd be a beer I owe you (and none of that crappy Budweiser stuff either ;) )
Quick question, how do you get the pictures into the post rather than just have the board post a link to them?

Use the Attach File button that is below the message field when you do a post.
