Hey! Was that the Arlington Theater show (12/2002) that I sent you? Saw you give it a B+... what criteria do you use in giving a rating... I just need some reference points so I can pass along info and give an accurate rating for future trades, etc.
I haven't gotten the show you sent yet, but Memphis mail is notoriously slow... It will be cool to see what you sent! I can compare sound and see how it lines up ratings-wise and get some perspective.
Peace-
Chris

Its on it's way. Well generally soundboards are A's and exceptionally great sounding shows are the same. That show was pretty good but nothing outstanding.

Re: the 12/4 show, there are two sources floating around, Matt Johnson's Sony ECM->MD source and my Royer SF-12->LunatecV3->DAT source; just inquiring as to which one you have, I know I'm a bit biased but my source of this show is one of the best auds I've heard! If you have the other source let me know and I'll get mine off to you for you to compare.

Peace,

Chris,
I have to agree with Mostlydead's rating for this show. I'm not sure which version I have, but I'd say a B+ was a pretty good call for this show.

A lot has to do with personal preference. Personally I like the 12/4/02 recording (sound quality wise) better than my 8/18/02, which gets good reviews on it's sq.

My 12/4 source is very big sounding though and it sounds better on larger systems than smaller ones as I didn't use any type of compression on it and it has some nice thick bass.

I wasn't trying to imply that a B+ wasn't the proper rating, just trying to make sure the best source is spreading!

Chris,

Judging from your description, I'd say I have the other copy. It's not so big sounding (I know what you're saying there). Certainly there are A audience recordings, and I'm sure yours is excellent. Love to hear it sometimes.

Hey, CBerryman and Boston-
The one Mostlydead is talking about is the Royer source from you, Chris... sounds good to me! I have a pretty solid playback set-up (very clean sounding Denon receiver and bass-rich speakers) so I thought excellent quality...admittedly, I don't have a lot to compare it to, as I am just getting into digital trading. I guess I need to hear some A and better stuff! It is a personal preference thing, though, so there ya' go! As long as the good stuff is getting around, it's cool!
Thanks for the hook-up, Chris B! I was one of the freebies you hooked up from the Oade Board a while ago. Let me know where I can check out your list and maybe I'll get a chance to send you something down the line...
Peace,
Chris Fenton
