There's been a lot of talk lately it seems about trading and mp3's. I'd love to get some live stuff but I know there's been no word from the top so I'm wondering what your opinion is on this. Thanks

i just talked to them last night [because this issue has come up again], and there is still no official word over the policy- still nothing definate, but i have a promise they will let me know and keep in touch over that issue as it comes out. ......and as i am one who would love to be trading, and might think of putting some type of organization of it here....... this issue is important to me.....
my opinion, keeping in mind that the management is watching this forum- to see how responsible the fans can act [and hopes are the more responsible we are, the more room the policy will have], would be that if there is a grey area [which sadly is most of the taping tading], or questionable area- to err on the cautious side. also- this is a way to respect them, and i know a lot fo you want live shows form them, especially if you guys haven't seen them before live.......
we know for sure they allow recording... but not sound boards.
and the attitude i have gotten, as well as several others who have talked to them about it, is that they really arn't too fond of mass distrubition [such as posting mp3's on a website] we know for sure that they are not happy wiht their music on napsterish servers be it studio albums or live stuff.
there are 7 or 8 areas chip and i defined several months ago and gave to the management that needed to be addresses in recording, trading, mailing, digital transfer etc..
so- if there is a question area... try to avoid those.... be patient! as it will be out soon hopefully!
and chip and i would ask that at least here on the forum till they define a policy, we avoid the grey areas as well.
