I got a copy of Nero installed on my computer last night and have been burning like a madman since then. Now I know some people on here wanted to trade with me and I have forgotten who these people were, so if y'all could be the kind folk that I know, PM or e-mail me what you want and your addresses I can start working on those sometimes this week. Now remember if you came to me first I ask that you send your discs first, that's just a policy with me. Also burn your discs DAO, just so there aren't any of those 2-5 second pesky gaps inbetween tracks, I love to have them flowing. Don't write on discs, ink can cause the discs to deterioriate after a long time. If you have a setlist and it isn't on etree or tapetrader, send those to me. And if you would be so kind, write on a post-it the name of venue, state and date and if you are trading something other than NC with me, the name of the group.

Thank you kindly and God bless

Chad

Chad,

Think we could set up another trade or work something out to get the shows you sent me in DAO now that you've got Nero running?

The gaps are fine for road trips and the like but not so much for trading.

thanks,

There's just one little problem, Nero was the program that was used for burning those CD's. And those tiny little gaps were already on there. I didn't know that until I listened to them on a different stereo. If you have any suggestions on how I can get rid of those, I might be able to work something out.

Yeah I did, but I am going through a rather large trade right now with someone and as soon as I get this one sent out, I will work on your next.
Thanks. Oh, and could you refresh my memory as to what you what you wanted from my list.

The best way I know of to get rid of the 2 sec gaps is to use EAC (available from etree...) to extract the wave tracks from the afflicted cd. There is a feature on EAC that gets rid of the silence at the end of tracks, I believe. From there just use nero to burn the tracks as a compilation. Don't forget to create a short (2-5sec) silence track for track 1 on Nero and set the DAO. The other tracks need to be set to zero on the window that does the fades, eq, etc... You should be able to figure it out in spite of my vague instructions... GOOD LUCK!!!

Got it... my best try would just to be trade for them again from someone who owns seamless copies (most ideally the taper, but I know they often go thanklessly busy)... I'm sure EAC wouldn't do a bad job at all removing the dead air, but I've been told these TAO gaps remove milliseconds of the actual recording and fear that over time / lineage, they'd become much more pronounced.

Cool of you to offer up your time to new traders.

Yeah, if you can get the original seamless version, that is definitely the way to go... even removing the gaps could leave some artifacts unless you really spend a lot of time doctoring the files in a wave editor or some such set up... but if that's all that you got, work with it!!!

No can do on getting the originals. Sorry if this has caused you any grief. If I have to try this out, which I really don't have a lot of time due to work and the wife, I can't really see any extra time being put into this at the moment. I hope you get some better copies though. The Waterdeep show shouldn't have any of those gaps though because I got that from a different trader.

No worries - I can probably pass these on to a non-trading friend, and if I do get seamless copies I'll let you know and send them over to you.
