For those of you who've read Scatterbrained-Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is very good. They did a story on it on NPR and I've listened to it a bit. I haven't bought it yet b/c I just bought the About a Boy soundtrack which is very good IMO (it's all done by Badly Drawn Boy) and I'm trying to spread out the CD purchases.

Is Yankee Hotel whatever a bluegrass band or what? How long have they been around?

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a new CD by Wilco-an altcountry(that's the label they've gotten) band. You can read ALL about it if you read Chris' new journal entry. Man, that boy can go on about some music can't he-I like it though.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is the newest release by the band Wilco. They have been together since 1995 and this is their 6th album. Wilco came from the remains of the almost-legendary band Uncle Tupelo. Other members of UT formed the band Son Volt. Wilco started out as an alt-country band, but with every album they have moved further and further from that label, and this certainly proves true with YHFT. If you do a search on the web you will more than likely find an article on how the band was dropped from their label after they refused to make any changes to YHFT. After they were dropped they had like 30 offers, and chose to go with a small label. For a short time about 9 months ago they offered the album for free from the website. All you had to do was download it and burn it. Pretty cool if you ask me. Well that is a very brief introduction of this amazing band from Chicago. AHH! I am so excited 2 days ago I bought Wilco's Yankee Hotel Fox Trot b/c I am huge fan of Wilco and I had heard from friends that it was good. Then today I check Chris's journal and thats what he writes on and on about!!! It feels me with joy that he and I both bought it on a musical whim!! The same night I also bought the Norah Jones recod come away with me...you guys should check it out...its beautiful...and Y.H.F. is as wonderful as Chris says and better...:) Blessings to all...and lovely musical inspirations!
