I haven't seen anyone mention it here, but Nickel Creek will be featured in a special on the Sundance cable channel on August 14th at 7:30 eastern. You can find all the details on the Sundance website (http://www.sundancechannel.com/), but here's the basic blurb:
The contemporary face of traditional American music is explored in this original Sundance Channel documentary series. The second program, Acoustic Innovators, presents a close-up look at Nickel Creek, a trio who won a 2003 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. With their bluegrass mix of guitar, mandolin and violin, Nickel Creek headlines at both country festivals and rock clubs (where they've been known to perform a mean version of Nirvana's Lithium). Keeping Time was developed by director Gillian Grisman and producer Alicia Sams.
This is actually part two of a four part series that starts on August 7th. The first show features Gillian Welch. If you miss any of them the first time, check the schedule as they are repeated a number of times throughout the month of August.
Note that the director of these shows, Gillian Grisman, is the daughter of mandolin master David Grisman, and is the director of the critically acclaimed Grateful Dawg about the musical friendship of her father and Jerry Garcia.
Enjoy!

yes I know! I would really like to see it but I don't have Sundance channel. :o(
By the way I don't know if any of you have sundance but I would like to get your opinion on that channel. They seem to show a lot of good movies. I'd like to get it but it probably comes with a package of other channels...

The Sundance channel isn't really a premium channel, though it does show movies without commercials. I don't think you can pay extra to get it - it's either included in your basic package or it's not there at all. At least that's the way it works here.
It's on many of the digital cable systems, usually slipped in there somewhere among all the extra stuff. In my cable system it's channel 142.

Sundance is my channel 505, and unfortunately it is in the other digital package.. see, we chose to get all the HBOs and Showtimes and Starz!, but Sundance came with all these indie flick channels and we didnt want that.
so like sarah said, if anyone tapes this, i'd be willing to do a b&p/trade for it!!!

Man, that was so freakin awesome! I'm so glad that our free digital cable for a month fell in August, I've seen so many cool things on it that I would have never gotten the chance to see if we didn't have the digital. Not only was that awesome, but it is less than two weeks until I get to see them! I can hardly contain myself. I feel like I've been a fan forever (ok a year and a half) but I have never EVER gotten to see a band that I like play a concert, that's Montana for you! But, it's so unreal, like I'm going to go see them, live, in person, it's just insane to think! And, I'm hoping the if I wait outside after the concert, dare I say, I might even meet them? That would be beyond cool, totally one of the best days of my life. Not only do I know it's going to rock so much, but also I'm missing the first day of school to see them, I wouldn't really mind missing a normal day, but missing the first day, that's kinda a big deal, my first day of High School infact, but I think well all know I'd rather be seeing Nickel Creek then doing anything else, right? So yeah, I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL AUGUST 26th!! :D :D :D

Well, I'm the one who started this thread, but like a lot of people in the northeast, I didn't get to see the show - the power was out!
Fortunately, though, it will be shown again a number of times in the near future:
Monday 08.18.2003 9:30AM
Monday 08.18.2003 8:30PM
Saturday 08.23.2003 10:00AM
Saturday 08.23.2003 5:30PM
Wednesday 08.27.2003 1:35PM
Sunday 08.31.2003 4:30PM
By the way, if you missed the part one of this series (featuring Gillian Welch and David Rawlings), you might want to check that one out, too. It's being repeated on Sundance as well. Check their website for the complete rundown.

Hey people, I taped it. Unfortuneately I taped it for myself. If you want I could probably arrange to tape it, it might sound mean, but it'd be nice if you could send me a few dollars for shipping, so if you really want it (it was awesome by the way) drop me an email and I'll see what I can do. punk_rocker_07@hotmail.com
