How 'bout we all tell stories of anyone that has been turned onto the Creek because of us.

To start it off I have a friend who HATES country music and bluegrass. I can't get her to listen to AKUS or BFB. I personally can't stand most country music but some is good. Well anyway I moved away and last summer when she came to visit me I made her listen to NC. Well she saw what the band looked like (she now thinks and agrees with me that Sean very handsome) and heard the music. Now she says that she only likes one bluegrass band, our very own Nickel Creek. Well that's my story of how I got someone into NC. [noise]

:P Well, a friend of mine didn't DISLIKE NC, he just didn't listen to them. When he got engaged, his girl-friend gave him a copy of NC's first album, and he was suddenly transformed into a Creekster. haha...however, I don't think it had to do with the music itself [evil eye]

Oh, lets see, when I went to my first concert. I dragged a friend of mine with me. She had never heard of NC before except for my CD which I let her borrow before the show. She honestly told me after the show that it wasn't what she expected at all. She pictured NC as being an older sit down band. She was expecting us to go there, sit quietly and listen. Anyone who has been to a show before, knows that its the complete opposite, so needless to say she was a certified fan by the end. Completly taken back and when I decided to go to another concert in 2 weeks, she was the first one to jump in the car with me.

I think I have converted two of my friends. One of them just fell in love with the CD. I let her listen to a few songs, and was hooked after she heard the first note of Ode To A Butterfly! :D My other friend, though.. she was little harder. I had her listen to them once, and she said Oh, yeah, that's cool.... and didn't really get into it. But then she heard that her boyfriend was listening to it too, and suddenly Oh my gosh! You like Nickel Creek, so does Dylan! (the boyfriend) That's so cool. Humm... well, I guess that it takes a little bit more sometimes... like Thilefan said.

I've got my 3 yr old brother and sister listening to them now. I'm visiting my dad and we were on a trip to an amuesment park. Well the kids were getting antsy so i decided to let them listen to my headphones. Well my brother was queitly listening when all of a sudden i hear Meeeooowww Meowwww I knew right away they were listening to Spit on a Stranger :-)) I about died..lol then my sister joined in and the two of them were saying it over and over again laughing. And of course they had to listen to it repeatedly. It was really cute. I took a pic. I'll try to post it sometime. My dad and stepmom wanted to hear the song so i let them listen, they werent to sure about the song title being apropriate for 3 yr olds, picturing the two of them running around singing about spitting on strangers...lol....but they liked the band and said they wouldnt mind listening to it.
So in all my ramblings, i've converted two 3 yr olds and a couple of parents :)

take care

I must say that it was like pulling teeth to finally get my friend to listen to NC. But there are so many people that we all must convert to NC fans. Most people don't even know who they are. Actually, last year I was on a knowledge bowl trip and I found that a friend of mine (kinda- we had some classes together) not only knew who NC was but she had This Side. The only other person in South Dakota that I've ever really spoken to that actually knows who they are. Plus she really likes them. And, by the way, when I was at Borders the other day I saw that This Side was still in the Best Sellers rack.[noise]

I've introduced EVERYONE (except for a couple of friends who already knew and liked them) I know to NC, but only one girl loved them! The first time I played her the cd she was like oooh! I love this cd! and I was spending the night at her house and she was singing spit and she was like I could spit on a stranger! Ooooh me-oow!!! I started laughing hysterically! She didn't believe me when I told her it said Pull me out until I let her read the lyrics herself! My lil sister (oh yeah, I got her hooked too!) also thought it said oh meow too! Lucky for me I alwayz all the lyrics as soon as I get a new cd, even as I'm listening to it!:D I didn't make that dumb mistake of thinking Chris was acting like a cat! But anyhoo, everytime I have friends over I alwayz have NC playin so they can get used to em. A couple of my friends actually said they liked them, but I think they were just feeling sympathetic or something! Oh well, maybe someday..... At least because of me if any of my friends friedns ever ask them if they heard of Nickel Creek they'll be able to say yes and tell them they know some of their songs JUST becuz of me! :D I'm proud to be a Creekster!!!

My lil song
And we're proud to be the creeksters, cuz at least we know they're hott! And we won't forget the work NC did to make This Side and their other albums rock! And I'll simply say hooray! Nickel Creek is still the best today! There ain't no doubt I love this band! God bless the NC of USA!!!

I know those were the most retarded song lyrics you've ever heard! Now you know why I am NOT a song writer!!!

My friends are only trying to put up with my obsession...but they like NC too. My best friends loves The Fox (especially the 'bones o' part because it somehow remineded her of Shippou from Inuyasha) One of my other friends likes them, but she's not into them as much as I am. My whole family likes them too. My sister loves Spit and even does the MEOW thing.:D

Personally I can't stand country music. I was introduced to bluegrass when I very young. I liked it, but as I got older my music tastes changed. So, bluegrass was put on a backburner for quite a long time and was thought to be lost. An ex-coworker of mine, about 3-4 years ago, got me back into it. The two CD's that got me back into were NC self titled and there was an album by New Grange. So I am totally thankful for that and now I listen to NC and other bluegrass bands on a regular basis
