perhaps a few of you out there in creekville would enjoy a little claymation music video a few of us put together. our little band recorded the music, and using the magic of clay, we brought it to life. it's featured in the Red Dot Film Festival and can be found here:

is anyone else familiar with the Frog and Toad books/ movies? there was a really well done set of clamation films done in the mid 80's on these books... kinda childhood memories to me.....
if i rememebr there was also one done on the making of it that was pretty cool on the work involved in the art.

i was kinda wondering the same thing, lol. b/c i know that those take a long time to do!!

it took for-stinkin-ever!!!!
seriously, we estimate 80+ hours altogether.
that includes 4 of us recording the song for a few hours (I had no idea how tough it is to record a song...especially when you're not very good!), sound editing, set building, character creation, and of course the actual animation, which took the bulk of the time. I did 10 frames per second (normal video is about 30), so that's 900 frames of animation! Fortunately I have access to good software and such to put it all together, and I borrowed a lot of the other stuff like lighting, camera, tripod, etc.
But it was worth it! A LOT of fun overall, even tho it took over my life for a couple weeks. You should try it if you have a digital camera especially. Short, simple ones dont take that long to do, and it's a great creative exprience to do with friends, family, etc. We actually did our first experiments while watching the olympics (I got bored b/c of all the comercials!) and they only took a half hour to do from begining to end.
anyway, I'm glad you like it! maybe we'll do another one some day...

this year's film festival was pushed back to the fall, so we havent started anything yet. now that we have a house and such to worry about, I'm sure claymation #2 will be less involved. we'll probly do something with slugs or perhaps fish. we shall see.
and if anyone is wondering what the heck we're talking about, the link above is old, and the updated one is here: http://2002.reddotfilms.com/film.asp?film_id=3

bob....quality man. pure quality. i can't wait for the next one. i mean..if it didn't take so long to do those you could have the next homestar type deal going. lol. you could have your very own strongbad/bluegrass picker. you know he does play guitar.
