I GOT TO MEET NICKEL CREEK!

Okay, so I DID get to go to Bumbershoot today and I got to see/meet Nickel Creek. It was awesome, especially for a first show :) Let's see...we got to Seattle and kind of got lost a little (I guess that's just the beauty of driving in Downtown Seattle and those one-way streets!) So anyways, we finally got to the right place, took the monorail, walked to find the venue and waited in line for an hour or so to get in.We went in, and I wanted to wait around, camp out & find a good spot up front so my friends went away. But while that happened I decided to check if I could get my press pass and take photos (since Bumbershoot flat out said No Pictures, even at Nickel Creek's request...which was kinda odd to me, but oh well). Basically I went on this WILD goose chase to find the right person and get the pass. Finally though, I was just told go back and wait since the only way I would be able to get anything would be if the band approved it - so I was just bleech, I'll never get it. And on my way back, I saw Sean (well actually, I'd seen him back when I was at the backstage check in booth trying to get my pass, but I thought it'd seem unprofessional to just - you know - go up and be like Hey Sean! while trying to get business done). Anyways, I walked up to him and tapped him on the back lightly and was like excuse me... and I smiled and was like Are you Sean? LOL lame I know, but I didn't want to go up to the man & ask for his autograph if for some reason it was a Sean look a like!!! And then he looked at me for a while (dude I'm cheesy but I TOTALLY felt like that looking in the eye-lock connection) and he was like yeah, I am and then I mumbled something and asked if I could get his autograph & he was like sure. So I got out my CD cover for 26 Miles and handed it to him and was like just a second, I need to find the sharpie! lol and then I told him how it's hard as hell for me to get my photo pass and they're sending all over the place and I still got nothing and he laughed at that and said yeah. And then after that he gave me back the CD and I said thanks and asked if they were going to be signing after the show. And he said yeah, I think so *points* over there So I moved up closer to him to see where he was pointing and I was like where? and then he said the Wherehouse booth. So I was like good...then I was putting everything away...and the girl he was with came back and Sean asked if they had what she was looking for and she said no and then they were going to be off. So he looked at me and said bye, I'll see you later and left. And I was, of course, very happy!

So then I found my way back to the concert, and we were by the soundbooth. We watched Leftover Salmon and a bunch of hippies and weed smokers (but only the ones in their 40s/50s) dance - they put on a good show (Leftover Salmon, not the dancing people). And then...before the set was over I was like, you guys I really hope you don't mind but I really want to walk up to the front because of Nickel Creek and blah blah blah so I did. And I got up pretty close, and then I ended up getting a phone call from Barry (the PR guy) and he said he had my pass for me. And I was thinking Oh no way! because well...I got the feeling from before that there just was no way I was going to get it. And then I thought Oh my God, I wonder if Sean had something to do with it. I really think he did because...they weren't gonna give it to me and weren't planning on it & then all of a sudden...I got it! So anyways, I got a briefing from Barry - photos were NOT to be taken during the first song...only 30 seconds of the second song and 30 seconds of the third. But, we did get to be down in the pit for all of that time and watch and it was AWESOME! I was like ahh! I can't believe I'm THIS CLOSE to Nickel Creek LOL. And I might be totally exagerating...but like, I noticed before they started, Chris looked at me and then at Sean and said something to him in that mic they have in the back to talk to each other. But maybe I'm just a Sean teeny and think everything's about me (LOL) because some times when he was playing Sean looked at me in the pit. And I was the only one standing directly under him. Of course, that could be an Oh God, it's crazy girl or something LOL. Then I had to go, but through luck, I ended up being able to be in the 2nd row of people, and throughout the set - randomly, he kept looking at me...along with Chris and Sara, but that might be because I was the only one singing all the songs, especially the new ones no one else apparently has heard since they're not lame and have like 20 Nickel Creek show trades. :)

THE SHOW was AMAZING, I was kinda bummed they didn't get to do all the songs I wanted to here, but it was NICKEL CREEK and it was great and it was LIVE and it was my first show...and yes...ahaha I can't complain. In fact, a lot of times I found I was SOOO moved by their performance that I'd sit there in awe during the instrumental parts and during a couple of the songs felt like crying just because Chris's vocal performance was SOOO amazing and on and just...heart wrenching on them. And Sara was so on and when Sean sang it was GREAT. I was so happy to be there! Chris said something about how there must be something against having people from Southern California come up here and everyone else in the country must just want them for themselves because they said Don't go to Seattle, it's always raining there, but every time we've been here it's been beautiful. And then later Chris & Sara were like I can't believe this many people are here for us. You guys are awesome. :)

So anyways, after the show did they a Wherehouse Music table signing and it kinda sucked because it was a one item per person deal. I had TONS of Sugar Hill promo crap so I just started giving it to people who didn't have anything to sign and they were like how much? and I was like, no no - it's for free. And they were all like cool! When I finally got to them I was like Hey Sara, I have something for you (and then Sean diverted his attention and looked at us) and then I gave her this necklace and she was like thanks but kinda like oh okay..... and then I was like yeah, I hope you like it, I made it for you and then she like got kinda excited and was like Wow, cool! Thanks And then I had the embossed thing and she thought it was a gift and I said, no I wanted you to sign that for me and she was like oh and then she signed it. And then I got to Sean and I gave him this CD (Foundation s/t) and a letter (I gave one to Sara too) and Sara was like we're putting gifts here. I asked them if Schtaz was going to sign anything (since I REALLY wanted him to sign it for me too) and Sean was like Schatz normally doesn't do these things and Sara said yeah...So I was like aww okay. And then I held up my CD and was like And this is my CD that I wanted to give to you guys because...well see you guys sorta inspired it *said with hand quotes* (and Sean was listening totally intensely) and I just wanted you guys to have it. And then Sara looks at me and takes it and was like Wow cool, thanks Jennifer! At first I was totally like, how'd she know me name? And then it was like DUH! It's on the album cover! LOL. So then I got to Chris, oh God, I was scared because I gave him a Save Ferris CD (and Sean was still listening) and he was like Is that Save Ferris disc for me??? and I was like Yeah... and then I kinda like...worried he didn't like it because of the way he asked it...and I was like yeah...I just thought you might it...but it's okay if you don't. And then *phew* he got ALL excited and was like I LOVE their cover of Come On Eileen and was totally psyched it was on the CD. :) And that would've been the end IF I'd listened to those wherehouse people, but then I asked Chris, Do you have ANY idea where I can find Schtaz then? And Chris was like Umm...where there's food? and Sean chimed in again Yeah, Schatz LOVES food. So I was like Okay but do you have any idea where? And they were like Not really, but if you see a guy in a funny hat that's Schatz LOL

So then I left, and that was that. I'd have felt really bad for taking their attention if the other two people behind me weren't my best friends who weren't really big fans (before the show). OH yeah! I forgot to mention how I got Chris to sign his latest solo CD, my lovely pal Chris (ahahaha...confusing I know) took the booklet and said he'd get it signed for me and I was like yay! So he did, and apparently the convo was like how his friend (aka me) really wanted him to sign it. And Thile was like That's cool, I hope she likes it and I was like who likes what? and Chris was like This! and he showed me the booklet that said To Jen! Chris Thile and I said aww thanks & I gave him a kiss on the cheek!

After that, I was on a partial look out of Schatz, but I couldn't find him. It was VERY sad. But oh well...I had a GREAT time & I met Sean twice...yay! :)

And attached is a picture of the thing I got autographed...and then the necklace I gave Sara.

The necklace I made for Sara (this was when it was unfinished and didn't have a hook on it or anything).

Acks! It was drawn to my attention that the part with two Chris's is confusing...the Chris I kissed on the cheek was NOT Thile, no it was my friend Chris *nods*

Damn, all these stories make mine seem pointless. I met them and like nothing else happened. Infact when I met Sean he ignored me for like thirty seconds. Oh well NEXT TIME I'm going to make it rock somehow! Yeah that's an awesome story though, wish mine was that interesting.

Okay so this is the only pics I have thus far and these are the crappy ones, but are partically decent so I'll just share in case anyone didn't get enough Sean from the ones on the website (not that you can really see Sean...but still). I had to crop and such since I'm too broke right now to get them photography place fixed

And finally that is my last...when I get my other photos (aka when I use up the rolls at my Dierks Bentley show) - hopefully those'll come out better. And when they do, you can find them at my e-zine, Alternative Motions. If you haven't already signed up to receive noticies of when it's update you can do so at http://alt-motions.notifylist.com/updates :)

Oh yes, sure, there'll be on my e-zine's website - http://www.powow.com/altm *nods* On an unrelated not, I'm excited about Dierks coming back to Puyallup - it's so funny that even though he's from Phoenix he seriously got his big break from Seattle because KMPS started playing WWIT back in March and then the label started to see it got a big response so they decided it'd be the first single and tada...lol
