Hey everyone. I tried looking through other threads for answers, but was unsuccessful...

So, I know that there are a lot of better mandos than those that are made by Rogue/Musician's Friend, but I am a brand-new player and I was wondering your thoughts on the Rogue RM-100A or RM-80A. My guess is that the RM-100 isn't made with spruce and maple like the 80 is.

I know some people on the board here have 80s.

I don't want to spend much money, and I'm just interested in a beginner mando. I like the Musician's Friend return policy as well as the beginner package they offer. Does anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks.

Hey there! I would highly suggest getting the Rogue FM-80 mando, that's the kind I got, and I even got it from Musician's Friend. The FM-80 has got great sound and playability, and has lasted my through some good jams. It's a great mando, and will be my friend for the rest of my life, even when I get my new Michael Kelly in a little while. Now, I have no real idea how the 100 mando sounds, but from the look of it, it seems like a good mandolin, and I would defenitly suggest either of these. I got the 80 'cause of the low price...I am very cheap. But, the quality, like I said, is good even to the advanced player.
