I love art, and I LOVE the creek- what better way to celebrate both, than by making a place where fans, like me, can post their dedication to the inspiration NC provides its fans! So, for starters, I'll post some of my stuff. Can't WAIT to see what you all have put together, cuz I know mine won't be half as good as most of yours, but sharing and viewing others' creativity is awesome!

EDIT: i draw a lot during school, and maybe i'll do another by the end of the week to put on here
EDIT EDIT: loubou, what did u use to draw that? pencils? im so interested in art.. especially pencils and watercolors and paint, even tho i used crayons for my drawing! lol
EDIT EDIT EDIT: you cant really tell in the pic cuz its' blurry, but in the actual drawing chris' hair is kinda flipped out from his face.. its not a big yellow afro

It's not really being modest, it's getting compliments from other people that makes my artwork. I try to go for photorealistic artwork, or a close approximation to it. I'll try to bring some pieces online next week. What is the recommended image size for stuff like that on here?

Wow! those are pretty good for doodles! Pretty much everything in my sketchbook is a doodle, but my stuff turns out really cool when I am not thinking about drawing. By the way, I finished my painting for art class....I'll post it as soon as I get it back.

12-19-2003, 04:06 PM
WOWIE!!

Banjochickie- super cool! I could tell the Chris one was from the album, and the other of the lil' girl is adorable and has so much likeness!!
Keep it up girlfriend!

ObsessedWithNC-
hey, I could never criticize your work- mine is so far from perfect- who am I to say what's good or bad! But a tool I ALWAYS remember when draeing: draw what you SEE not what you THINK you see. for instance: if the eyes look dark and disappear int he shadows of ythe face, make it that way! its a way to train your artistic judement to focus on what's really there and what your mind wants to create. :D sorry...all that was probably jibberish

Day-
feel free to print out any of my pics- I'm happy to share my stuff, and to spread the Creek is icing on the cake!

scarlettfox- I can't wait to see your work and hope you enjoy sharing it with us!!

I'm SOOOO pleased this thread has become such a recipe full of everyone's creative ideas and talents!

Yeah...the little C*... It's C-Star cuz I love the ocean, and astonomy too! So I just incorporated the C for Christy and the star.
Thanks...the bottom one is my fav...but something about the proportion of the lips to the nose looks wrong. I need a little practice.

Gee whiz! That is the most coolest picture I have ever seen! I absolutely LOVE it! .. AHH! .. We're doing self-portraits in my art class now. :( I wanna draw Nickel Creek

03-03-2004, 08:12 AM
Wow, awesome drawing. I love the Cubism era. If you ever want to get intomore of a style like that, check out Wassily Kandisky or Paul Klee. One piece of late advice though, I would've made the mandolin more boxier lookin', you know, being an artist and all and a fan of Picasso.

lovedixie42
03-03-2004, 02:06 PM
Thanks. I did a Paul Klee one last year with NC, but it was really bad. I watercolored several areas then went over all of it with a black crayon and then scraped off the design I wanted. It was fun. I thought about making the mando boxier but since in Picasso's Girl with a Mandolin it was sorta rounded I decided to do most of Chris' mando rounded. Kandinsky sounds familier but I havn't done any of his work.

mastermandolin
04-01-2004, 03:58 PM
Looks to me like beginners course in Adobe Illustrator, Freehand or Corel Draw. Which one of these am I right on?. 'Cause I know most of these programs you can do the gradient on, which you can do the whole shading effect on.

asillittle
04-01-2004, 05:38 PM
It was done in Illustrator (a beginner's course in Computer Graphics) but I don't think I used any gradient for it, we were learning about Mesh at that time.

aw all of you guys are so great! i mean it! i could NEVER do that! i really wanna be able to draw and stuff but i'm pretty bad and dont have that much patience. and, unfortunately, i suck at drawing people. i always get the face all wrong, if not something else. i'm pretty good if i'm looking directly at what i'm drawing tho....like those of you who are awesome and like homestarrunner (dont worry the rest of you are still awesome) i have this wonderful picture i drew of the cheat. its great. so you could say i have talent i guess but i cant draw stuff well from memory unless its something like a cow or something...idk.
