If there are any points for aspiration, count me in! The most I can do is jam on most of the fiddle tunes, but that is enough for me while I develop my skill. Knowing the key of a song is my ticket to a fun time with Chris's CD's.

Thats a great start....pick up some of Chris' slower tunes, like Old Favorites Melody and stuff like that to start, and then when you feel confident enough, just start on the faster more complicated ones....but DO try them, it makes playing a instrument all worth while.
[bang] (Every once in a while, you may hit the wall on some of his stuff--I did anyway--but don't give up!

Yes, well Chris just happens to be a beautiful man, and honestly that's what made me pick up the album in the store. I had to see what the fuss was about this dude named Chris Thile. He's sounds cool and very Californian. PLUS, his music is phenomenal. When I saw Nickel Creek on CMT, I was amazed at his talent and quick-fingeredness (I know that's not a word). And he's only 20? Wow. His softer songs sooth me when I need some quiet time, which I often do since I live in NY City. I simply adore his music and I can't wait to meet him someday, before he's too famous.[noise]

Your right, he is pretty cool lookin'....but I like his music better than his looks. So, NO-ONE plays Chris' harder stuff???....somebody HAS to have AT LEAST tried it!! Come on....anybody???? Hehe....

Hey Thilefan,
I have been working on Ode To A Butterfly and also Raining At Sunset. I have the full tab for OTAB and an intro tab to RAS if you want them.

I have learned a few of his songs, although not his toughest stuff. Shadow ridge and panhandle rag are the ones I know the best, I play them with a band I'm in. I found the tab for stealing second somewhere and can play that at about 3/4 speed, of course none of it sounds as good as when he plays it. Panhandle rag and shadow ridge I tabbed out on my own but I think I have lost the tab. I could look for it again if anyone is interested. I have picked up small pieces of stuff from his new CD but not any entire songs, yet. Hopefully I will be able to interest a banjo player I know in learning Riddles in the Dark with me in the next few months.
