I've noticed some folks wondering about how to get a recording of this concert, a fundraiser recorded at the Ryman theatre. I am waiting on an email reply from the organizers.

In the mean time, for those of you that can swing it, I suggest contacting your local PBS station and enquiring. The concert was re-aired recently during the network's own fundraising, and many stations offer either a CD or a video tape of the concert to new supporters at a certain contribution level. See, e.g.:

So help out your PBS station and get to listen to some great music. I'll post a followup when I hear from Gaylord Entertainment, which produced the show. Some info is also available at:

I did catch that program last week, and it was a real wing-dinger! Does anyone know what the name of the tune that Nickel Creek played? I wasn't familiar with it, but it was very nice. Quite different from what eveyone else played, I was wondering if it was a tune off their new album that's coming out. I'l be seeing them at Ravinia in Chicago in 2 weeks, it should be a treat!

I believe it was The Great Illusion. They've performed it before, but -- unfortunately -- I am unable to find a commercial release (some traders have captured it from other performances). I would like to purchase a copy, but I've been unsuccessful finding it for legit sale. It was certainly very nice.

In performance they've mentioned it will be on the new album.

I just got a message from the show's promoters confirming that via a contribution to PBS is the only way to get the video. He said he'd post information on nicklecreek.com if that policy changed, and encouraged me to register for the mailing list at:

www.allstarbluegrass.com

in order to get updates. So drag out those dusty check books and kick some cash into the PBS coffers.
