Nickel creek did not win. [sob]
Brooks and Dunn took the catagory. I personally don't like that because Brooks and Dunn are always up for every award to give out exept best female artist of the year. I think that Nickel Creek deserved it more.
Well, at least they got nominated as one of the finalists.

Mandofocus...you're right. Brooks and Dunn win every darn time except for best female artist!
I was disappointed in the show. It was too glitzy and somewhat disjointed and not very country. But then, country these days isn't what country used to be. The whole face of the music industry is changing. Thankfully, our NC is multi talented enough to go with the flow, ease successfully into any genre they feel like easing into. They're too young and too bright to be pigeonholed and we fans can look forward to many years of great music from them.
So they didn't win last night, but they're winners to us! Take that, Brooks and Dunn!

i was so sad that nickel creek didn't win. i get so tired of seeing the same people win all the time. i agree with you guys that country music isn't what it used to be. i didn't care for the show either. the best part was alison krauss and earl scruggs performance. but yes nickel creek definately deserved that award and they're winners in our hearts.

Well, since the show was voted by fans I would have guessed Brooks and Dunn with all their play on radio and high publicity would win the award. Nickel Creek doesn't get as much publicity as these other groups such as B& D. Maybe if Nickel Creek ever got a chance on the radio or something they would have got a better shot at it. I was thinking about this last night right after they didn't win, They got voted into the top 5 videos out of a category that had 10-12 videos in it, which means they were at least more popular than 5-7 other groups :D

You have to remember that Country radio stations, for the most part, really arent playing what would be tradionally known as Country music and are playing what amounts to this generation's version of Adult Contemporary.
The type of music done by Brooks & Dunn, Tricia Yearwood, Shania Twain, et al is more like soft rock with a little twang to it rather than pure country music.
Traditional artists like Willie Nelson, Steve Earle, Dolly Parton, etc get little if any airplay on the major market Country stations.

:( I am so dissappointed. I watched so much of that stupid awards show to see Alison Krauss and ended up missing that part! I would have settled for at least seeing keith urban but I missed him too. I am getting so tired of CMT trying to be like MTV or something.
That's just my two cents though. For anyone who actually enjoyed the show in general please don't be offended; I'm happy for ya. ;)

Probably just me, but does anyone else like Flogging Molly? One of the guys in Keith Urban's band was wearing a Flogging Molly shirt. How awesome is that??? Gotta love the irish punks!

I really like the keith urban song he did, where the blacktop ends is one of my favorite songs, and the bluegrass version he did rocked! Plus, being a fan of keith urbans music is indirectly related to me being a fan of Nickel Creeks music. If it weren't for me liking keith urbans music I would have never watched the On the Verge show about Nickel Creek to introduce me to there music, because I was actually only watching it to see keith urban. I also liked the Earl Scruggs performance, but I can never get into Allison Krauss's music for some reason...

really?! have you heard her Every Time You Say Goodbye album? great stuff. I wasnt too keen on the Forget About It album...a bit too poppy, but the new one is good (EXCEPT...where the heck is the mando?!). such a sweet voice and an awesome fiddle. as my friend once said, she could sing me to sleep any night of the week.

I'm a new and enthusiastic fan!! Thanks to Chris, Sara and Sean, I have renewed excitement in the soul of music. I would have liked to see them win on the Flameworthies also! But I have hope for the future. I've worked in country radio off and on for 15 years and I know about the glitz and the hoopla. With the talent and beauty they bring to music, NC will not only flourish, but will win awards AND the love of people everywhere![noise] Brooks & Dunn have been around a long time and have worked hard to get where they are. I was there when they were struggling solo singer/songwriters. They deserve recognition! But so does NickelCreek and they will be getting more and more I am sure! Especially with devoted and vocal fans like us who will sound off for them everywhere we go!

Hey, can anyone send me a list of all the songs Brooks and Dunn has ever put out? I was trying to think of just ONE B&D song that I actually liked and was unable to come up with any.

To answer mandoBob's question about the mando on the new Alison Krauss album: the mando's on there (Tracks 1 and 3), although I personally can't hear it. Dan Tyminski's playing it. I was mad about Nickel Creek not winning anything too. I think that Nickel Creek should have won the Group/Duo Video of the Year award and Alison Krauss and Union Station should have won the Hottest Video of the Year award. (Tim McGraw is NOT hot!!) Did anyone see the CMA Awards show? Brooks and Dunn and Trick Pony won over Nickel Creek in that. Talent vs. no talent...you'd think Nickel Creek would win, huh? Okay, obsession over!

I have to say that I absolutely CAN'T STAND either Brooks and Dunn or Trick Pony! And not just because they both beat Nickel Creek either....I just can't seem to find anything likeable about either of them!
Sorry if that sounds mean, but ya KNOW i had to throw in my .02!

Well guys, I thought real hard about it and decided that there was ONE Brooks & Dunn Song that I liked...that Maria song wasn't all bad....I'm still stumped about Trick Pony though...
