Sean and Sara put on a very nice show at Vinaka tonight. Completely unplugged. Some Christmas songs - my favorite being The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire). I don't remember all the songs but here are a few:
Sweethearts on Parade
Holly and the Ivy
Tall Buildings
Speak
Let It Fall
Ferdinand the Bull (Peter Sprague joined them)
Chicago
Charlie Parker tune
Reason's Why
Jon Brion tune
Miss Misery (Elliot Smith)
Several Celtic Songs
Silent Night

You Californians... how I envy thee! I'm sure it was fantastic... I would love to hear anyone from NC perform some Christmas songs :)

E.R.,
Thanks for your post.
I have a question for you: do you know if Sara and Shawn will be performing at all in the San Diego area during the next couple of weeks? I'll be traveling from the Midwest to San Diego on Wednesday of next week, and will stay there until January 13th. I anticipate going to the Watkins Family Hour show at Largo on January 7th, but also want to make sure not to miss any performances in the San Diego area while I'm there (it would be so frustrating to travel so far and miss a performance!). Of course, I've been checking the Nickel Creek site regularly, but I don't anticipate having access to the Web while I'm in California. What are the best local publications that I should check during my stay in San Diego, just in case? BTW, if any other residents of Southern California are reading this, please feel free to share any information!
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't know of anything right now. You might want to check Peter Sprague's website (http://www.petersprague.com), they pop in on his gigs sometimes.
You might want to call Vinaka Coffee House in Carlsbad and ask when Sean and Sara are playing again. Sara said they'd like to do it more often.
