I was there!! :D :D It was my 3rd time at Largo, and BY FAR my favorite. HOW freaking cool was it of Tim O'Brien and Mark Schatz to play with them?! Oh my gosh, that so made my day. Those last couple of fiddle tunes just killed me, they were so freaking awesome!!

This was my second Largo. Aside from spending a fortune it was a fabulous time. I took my sister and nephew and his girlfriend.

It was a great show![noise]

yeah it can get pretty pricey... what I like to do is eat dinner beforehand, and then just order dessert and a drink. that saves a little bit of $$$!

Just returned to the Midwest after a great trip to beautiful, sunny southern California (and am very excited to catch up with this discussion)…

What an incredible night! As a fiddle music fan, I agree with Banjochickie (it was nice meeting you there) that the fiddle tunes really smoked! It was also exciting to hear them play the Charlie Parker tune Scrapple from the Apple, especially since I just heard Chris Thile play this one with Mike Marshall at another concert in December. And, Sara's fiddle solo on the Charlie Parker tune was wonderful. The excitement of other Nickel Creek fans in the audience was palpable; as soon as Sara and Sean started playing Reasons Why and Speak, people cheered.

Tim O'Brien's contributions really rocked! What a great bluegrass musician! It was also cool to see Mark Schatz showcase many talents--from jamming on the bass to livening up the fiddle tunes with his banjo playing and clog dancing.

What a terrific show--I envy the residents of southern California who have the awesome opportunity to see these wonderful musicians play again and again!

*tehehe* that would be me and the other gals at my table that started the cheering... we're quite an excited bunch, hehe...
it was fun meeting you!! :-D glad you enjoyed California... it's an okay place, huh? ;)

oh, by the way - you picked an EXCELLENT show to come to - it was my far my favorite of the 3 Largo performances I've made it to. Tim and Mark's contribution on banjo, bass, and mandolin just made the show, in a word, SO FREAKING AWESOME. ;-) :D

Glad you all started cheering--I was whooping and clapping along with you! Yes, it sure was an excellent show--so glad I lucked out with the timing of visiting southern California. And yes, I would definitely say that California is an awesome place to visit (if there were a job and affordable housing available, I'd strongly consider staying a lot longer!)

Aww yay! Yeah the crowd was definitely awesome. I've read some stories about audiences that are less than polite during NC concerts, but all the shows I've been to have been great... maybe 'cause this is their hometown? Anyways, yeah CA is a pretty cool place... most of the time... although I'm probably not gonna stay here for my whole life, 'cause I'd rather be out in the country! :)

Yes, they clearly feel very comfortable performing at Largo, and I agree that being a highly respected and admired local act probably enhances their experience playing there. I've also read (on this board, I think) stories about rude audiences. I wouldn't have much (if any) patience for that, and am glad I haven't experienced it.
