Us Northerners need some love too y'know =P.

I was just wondering if anyone from the board had any plans on going at this point. I go to school at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, and I'll be drivin' there with a friend of mine from Villanova. Maybe we'll even be able to drag some others along for the ride.

The website doesn't have any information yet, such as how to buy advance tickets, and how much they will cost. I'm e-mailing the address listed now for more info but I don't expect an immediete reply as it's currently 2:00 AM =P.

I'll post info as soon as I get it. If anyone gets it sooner, or would just like to let us all know you're going, give a holler!

Man, I might have to trek to PA to see Nickel Creek... I probably won't have the time or money, but I want to see them again so badly. Oh well, maybe they will make it to Ohio?

I'll be there! Not really a huge fan of Messiah's music facilities, but hey, it's a Creek concert. ;)

Concert #5 for me :D

I'll be there! My friend goes to Messiah so she's getting me a ticket and I'm slumbering in the dorm with her! It's also my BIRTHDAY so that's going to be a FABULOUS present! Now to just get them to sing happy birthday to me.... or better yet play it! *sigh* Hope to see y'all there!

Nickel Creek like WHAT in three days!! :D

I'll be there with my Always Listen autographed shirt on from forever ago...I think it's time to buy a new shirt, lol. The Spring Tour 2004 shirts are rockin'. And I'll probably somehow try to shamelessly plug greenandgray.net. :D So perhaps I shall see some of you there. ;)

I was there in all my Always Listen tee glory LOL. :D I'll post the review I'm writing for Greenandgray.net once I have it finished. :)

Hello,

I recorded the show as well as took some pics too. Not my best recording ever as I'm trying out new gear and don't know these mics like my old mics. As you guys know, I can't post it for download, but once I get it all tracked out I'll send out a few freebies to people who can burn more for others. Here's a mp3 sample to check out:
Nickel Creek - Grantham, PA Sample (http://www.comebackdownload.com/ncakgsample.mp3)

p.s. if anyone thinks its a problem to post the clip for people to check how the recording tunred outlet me know and I'll take it down.

Hey Chris - thanks for the sample.

What's the second song they go into from the Fox that Sara sings? Kicks in at about 5min 40secs - is it Drone?

AgentJade
03-29-2004, 07:03 AM
I thought the chorus was Mr. Vulture or something when they sang it...

lizbeth_marie
03-29-2004, 09:09 AM
The song she goes into is definitely drone. She even slows it down a bit from the last couple times I've heard it. Makes the lyrics a little easier to catch.

Thanks for the sample Chris!

Wow, I thought they were saying, Mr. Vulture or something, I had no clue they were saying Drone LOL.

I can't believe you didn't get drowned out by the incredibly raucous crowd that was there. LOL By the way, where were you taping from? I can swear I just heard myself laugh...LOL. I was standing RIGHT in front of the light guy. (I am also 95% sure that I heard my wooo 5 seconds in, the first really loud one LOL).

I actually have a few live ones in my collection already if you'd rather trade for this show...but I'd soooo love a copy of this show, it was a fun night.

I thought the recording was excellent. Was that you on the left side of the stage w/the laptop and the mic setup next to the speaker? If so I was right next to you w/a digital SLR camera snapping away during the concert. I'd LOVE to get a copy of the CD if you get around to making any. I loved their new material, especially the Doubting Thomas song and the way the whole audience sang along to Be Thou My Vision. Best NC concert I've been to (out of 4 so far).

UPDATE

Just so everyone knows, I was not happy with the sound quality so I remastered it with some info I got from my microphone builder. The show is almost ready to go and I'm just working on the acoustic encore right now. The only thing I couldn't fix was the distortion coming from the PA but aside from that it cleaned up nicely.

Here's another sample to tide you all over:
http://www.comebackdownload.com/MaybeSo.mp3

also my email account has changed:

please use: cnmberryman@cox.net for the time being.

hey everyone I was at the show too. I was standing down in the front with everyone else. I really wanted everyone to stay sitting so that everyone could see. I first had the giant string bean and his obnoxious friends in front of me, but then I moved closer, and I found my other 2 friends who had moved up closer to the front since this was their first creek concert, my 5th, and by far the best yet!! One of my friends is only 4' 11 so she missed like the whole thing, but for the encore I put her on my shoulders for as long as I could. The excitement was incredible. I especially liked the Doubting Thomas and Rain through the window songs. It was the first time I heard Should've Known Better (I love the zip zip on the mando) and Speak live. The whole thing was jaw dropping. Props to us for being able to clap on beat to the 9/4 timing. I don't even know how to play something in that time signature and I've been playing guitar for 9 yrs now. Anyway, I think I've rambled on long enough. Glad to be back on the posts. Hello to mel4him and any others that might remember me.

Peace

Notes:

Thanks to Brandon at Messiah College, without his help this recording would not have been possible!!

This was my first outing with this mic. After this show I sent it off to California for modification and was informed that
the right channel was missing the timing plug that makes it a cardioid mic, therefore it was not acting properly and that
was why it was sounding so weird. For this SHN I duplicated the left channel and used it for both the left and right so it
is a mono recording. Most people still enjoy it, so check it out!

peace, chris

any chance I could do a B&P with ya? (Or I have a Nickel Creek show from Lincoln, NE in August of '03 if you'd rather trade!)

I have the show, If you want to set up a trade, just send an e-mail to me.

however, the show is in FLAC format, and it will stay that way. I just dont have enough time to convert to wav and burn 2 cds instead of one. So if you are interested in the show, it's one disc, in FLAC format

send an e-mail to -

mterry@taperssection.com

and for everyone else waiting on their buies creek show......i got back from canada saturday night, so I'm finishing up on all the discs

is there a website you could point me to that explains how to convert from flac to wav? if so, i'd love to set up a trade!

mterry
04-14-2004, 06:54 AM
how about I tell you? It's that easy.

of course, you will need to download the flac program (http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html)

here is where it gets easier. open the porgram. the files that you will want to change (decode) from flac to wav (audio) just drag and drop them in the open area of the flac program (the blank, white area)

after you have done that, get this, all you have to do is press 'Decode' on the right hand side of the program.

after that, you're done!

obsessedwithNC
04-14-2004, 08:12 AM
OKay... let me get this straight.. so when you press decode to finish converting from FLAC to WAV, what does that do? Does it burn the songs to the 2 discs? Wow. I am confused.

UPDATE

Just to let everyone know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, I've just been really busy with work (active duty Marine)and stuff recently. I have 6 sets of the show burned so far and am going to burn 14 more. I'm not big in to trading because of the time, etc. involved. I'm going to send the CDs as freebies to the first 20 people who asked for them, if you read this and could send me your snail mail addresses that would make it go smooth, otherwise I'll drop everyone an email. If you want to send me a cool live disc or CD of pics or something in return thats fine, but I'm not expecting anything.

Brandon, of course, I'll send you one too!!!

I'm gonna try and get them out before Friday. If you're not in the first group of CDs, hopefully someone else on the list will offer it up as a B&P, but 20 is my limit for freebies.

peace, chris

p.s. these will be in audio format
