Very cool - they called the album This Side bluegrass for a new era...had some interview clips with the band, mentioning Smoothie being a surprise hit, and talking a bit about metallica's bassist, very very cool unexpected coverage!! [noise]

It was just during their regular morning video rotation - not sure which show exactly...but they did the vh1 news update - it might be repeated throughout the day at least! I'd keep an eye out for it!

I cant even imagine hearing that on the radio.. I called a station to request it once but was told it was a sort of a hippie bluegrass and they wouldnt play it!!

gah! I found an all-acoustic show, and I kept writing the dj telling him how fantastic nickel was, how well their shows were doing in the area, etc...maybe you could give something like that a try with another station?

meh - smoothie is SO not hippie bluegrass anyway....it's not hippie, and it's not bluegrass - :P

gah! We had a radio station once that played Smoothie...the only alternative rock station in our area...and then they went all commercial and decided that a country station would get better ratings.[sob]

Ya'll should've moved to WA, the Mountain (our Adult Alt) station played the song till now end, still rotated at about 6 plays last week...they're also picked up on the Top40 station which is ODD to actually heard NICKEL CREEK AND NICKEL BACK within the same playlist...;)

I live in Ohio and a station I listen to all the time plays both The Smoothie Song and This Side at least once a day! When I first heard it I freaked. And now that it's been playing for months, I still get a little excited when I hear one of the two familiar tunes (which I have to disguise since I'm often at work) . I want to be like these are my kids! but I think I would freak the customers out a bit. I hope I see that little clip on VH1 sometime. How fun!:)

The station I was talking about is 91.3 FM The Summit, WAPS, Akron. They play some really good stuff. I've never actually heard it, but I think Kent State U's Station also plays NC on a certain folk program (they're often connected to The Kent Stage, where NC played a few months ago). But yeah, you should listen into 91.3 sometime if you're able to. :)

Yep I was at the Kent Stage and I know of that radio station but sadly cannot hear it.
