Tonight's Nickel Creek show in Johnson City, Tennessee was simply amazing. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen, and it was free. There was a ton of people there, and rightly so. I was very lucky to meet and hug Sara and get Chris to autograph his solo CD for me tonight.

There was everything from the sincere mood to even 'Blue Plum Grass Moshing' going on down in the front where I was at when they closed with a superawesome version of The Fox complete with Vanilla Ice, Nirvana, and my personal favorie, the Mario Brothers Theme (From Nintendo) as delightfully performed by Mr. Chris on his power Mandolin.

This was my second Nickel Creek show, as I saw them at Merlefest earlier across the mountain from here. Everytime I see Chris he reminds me of Dave Matthews, only with a mandolin. He rules. Sara does too, she is beautiful, talented, sweet, my ideal woman. But you know how that is (no chance in haities)!

I thouroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait to see them again around this area. They are alot better once you see them in person.

Johnson City was my second NC show. It was cool and everything, but we were back kinda far and couldn't hear the songs all that well and forget about hearing their dialogue between songs. A lot of people were talking and yelling to eachother, and the alcohol was flowin freely. BUT, this time we got to meet Sean, Sara, and Chris. I enjoyed talking with Sean so much, he is such a great person. Also, my fam and I met some fellow Creeksters, HI Katy, Maggie, and Mum! You guys are so awesome! Maybe I'll see you again on another roadtrip :-) NC said that there will be some more tour dates coming out soon, so hopefully, we can see them again in the near future. No matter the circumstances, they are such great live performers!

Hey now, don`t be dissing on the Blue Plum Moshing - I was right up there in the front, directly behind the sponsor barriers, having a BLAST the whole time! (Even though there were a lot of really rude people yelling at us to sit down). You just can`t help but get into the groove when NC is onstage!

I was clapping so hard that I actually broke a ring and quite bruised my left hand... hah, but it was worth it! The concert was amazing, the performance was one of the best I`ve ever seen. Earlier in the day, I was there for soundcheck and was lucky enough to meet Chris, Sean, and Sara and have them sign my happy little Nickel Creek dollar. Later, after the concert, I was able to get Sean and Chris to sign the back of my library card (let`s not ask, lol).

Oh, speaking of breaking things, Chris broke his pick on The Fox. hehe, looks like nobody got off unscathed.

I know that I`d definitely shell out money to see NC again, considering how amazing this free one was. I had the best time that I`ve ever had at a concert (take THAT Clint Black, blah) and I don`t believe that I`ll ever forget the messed up version of The Lighthouse`s Tale or rocking out to bluegrass. [noise]

By the way, Wes, funny thing that you were there. I actually wanted you to go with me. Oi.

Ok, we need a green with envy smilie!

I was DETERMINED not to nag hubby to take me. So of course he forgot all about it and so I didn't get to go. Oh well.

Maybe with the new tour dates coming out they will be close enough to me again soon so that I'll get another chance to see them before they hit the big time.

They come back to VA in October but that is too long to wait and besides I was supposed to go to a women's conference that weekend.

Someday...

I must say that the Johnson City show was fantastic. It was my second show and I too got to meet a fellow Creekster. Hi Josh and thanks for the great discount (Alice Ann says hi). Anyhow, I was lucky enough to get to meet Chris and Sara. I met Chris before the show and took a picture with him and a puppy :) (two of my favorite things all in one!...I LOVE puppies and NC of course). Anyhow, I met Sara after the show and Chris again to get autographs. Two very nice people (I am so glad that I am a calm person...it pays off when you are meeting someone you like). Anyway, they definitely seem like down to earth people that I would love to hang out with ya know. I had lots of fun and it was worth dragging two friends along to drive 5 hours to get there :)

Hey, littlevenice143! You were in front of me after the show because I remember Chris mentioning something to you about a picture with your puppy. :) Nifty.

I was at the Blue Plum Festival in Johnson City and I must say it was great. We traveled all the way from Alabama to see Nickel Creek. We watched them the night before in Chattanooga. We got there early and I met Sara before the sound check and got my guitar signed. It took me a while but I finally got them all to sign it. We sat against the barrier for the show and had a great time. The look on Chris's face when he broke his pick will never be forgoten. It is the first time i have ever seen a Mando player break a pick. Well to all of Johnson City, we had a great time and thanks for the hospitality. We plan on moving up that way in a few years.

Well I have to say that the concert itself was SO much better at chattanooga because at Blue PLumI was sitting right next to Ruth (HI :) ) and her family and we were surrounded by loud drunks so hearing anything was nearly impossible, BUT the experience was SO much better at Johnson City.

For starters I got to meet so many nice creeksters!!!
Nickel Creek fans are so nice.
In an interesting coincidence (pr possibly providence) i ended up sitting right by Ruth from our board and her entirely lovely mother, Pat and brother, Mike. Then afterwards we just kept meetin so many nice people. There were the two high school age boys, Brent & Brett from Atlanta, who were sick puppies over sara, absolutely precious! and then a group of very sweet kids who work at a Presbyterian boys camp. And the cute little girls that were dancing in front of us who were having a night out just with their dads. It really was lovely :)

THEN...to top it off....we got to meet the group. First I met Sean. I have such new appreciation for him after this weekend. he is so talented but I think since chris has such a dynamic personality and sara is so personable he kind of gets pushed to the side. He was so nice and appreciative. I have new found respect for him and his talent. Second we talked to sara. I honestly think that she could be my best friend if she was someone around here. She is so kind and geniune and gracious. She was making connections with everyone that she spoke to and that is such a rare gift. By the time we had met sean and sara, chris had gone inside and one of their people Fielding was telling sara she needed to get on the bus. We asked fielding if there was nany chance Chris would be coming off. We had the other's auto graphs, we had driven 18 hours to get to Johnson City and we were wondering. fielding gave us a pretty clear No. BUT Maggie and I gave him the poor-little-puppydog-I-am-going-to-cry-at-any-minute look and he took our stuff in for chris to sign. Then Chris came out and Maggie asked if we could have a picture and he saidyeah that's kind of why I came out here You could tell Chris was tired and they needed to get on the road so I was really impressed that he came out like that. And since fielding was so nice we got him in the picture too...

SO..now I just have to figure out when I get to see them again...

If only I didn't live in OK......

Katy

Man! I must have been at a really good vantage point because I spied you getting your guitar signed as well. :) It was right after my friend got her NC cd signed by Sara. Very cool. I think that if I actually had a guitar, I would have gotten them to pen it. :D

The show was so much fun, though, I don`t think I`m still over it! I get to show off my cool Nickel Creek dollar and my 2/3`s of Nickel Creek library card to all of my jealous, jealous friends. Wonderful. :)

I really hope that when they tour again, they come here. After the response from the crowd, I hope that NC gets the idea that we love them! After all, east Tennessee is the birthplace of country music.
