(I'm sorry to start a new thread about this but.... lol)

I have never ever heard Nickel Creek played on a radio station in Northeast Ohio until I called the DJ at WKKY (his name is Hoss) yesterday and begged! I called the station 3 or 4 times and each time I called it rang about 10 times and so I would hang up. Then finally Hoss answered and yelled QUIT HANGING UP ON ME! and I was shocked so I was just like, O, can I request a song? and then the DJ was like, That is not until 4:30. (it was only 3:15 at the time) So then I said Ah, well okay... and then Hoss said Oh, well what do you want to hear? and I said I would love for you to play something by Nickel Creek; I never hear them get played! and the DJ said Oh, well that's because we never play them! So then I said Well, I know they are not a real popular mainstream band but I LOVE them! and Hoss said I like them too. I'll play them within the hour! and he hung up! So then immediately after the song that was playing ended, Hoss says Here's something new- they're called Nickel Creek! and he played 'When You Come Back Down'!!! I almost fainted! Then after the song, he's like Okay... that was Nickel Creek... I like them.. they're like hippie folk bluegrass... That was a stupid comment but hey- at least he played them!!

So have any of you Ohio-ans heard Nickel Creek played on a radio station? I know a college station down in Kent plays them sometimes.. but I don't live near enough to hear it. Does anyone know about WGAR? Do they play NC? .. I'm just curious! .. Just 'cause as of yesterday afternoon, everyone in Northeast Ohio listening to WKKY got a dose of Nickel Creek thanks to ME! Great exposure for the band!!! [noise]

Hippie folk bluegrass??? What's *that*? Wonder what other musicians would fit in that category (according to the DJ)??? But, yes, you do have to give the guy credit for honoring your request. I've never heard them on commercial radio--just public radio a couple of times. Your persistence is admirable.

Thank you. .. -hippie folk bluegrass- could be almost the worst way to describe Nickel Creek.. it makes me think of old grey haired guys with long beards doing some 'pyschedelic' folk tunes.. *shudders*
