I was Fortunate enough to see my first Nickel Creek shows this weekend. I saw them in Chattanooga,Tn on fri and Johnson City,Tn on sat. On sat i met Sara at about 11am. I got my guitar signed by the whole band. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this weekend changed my life and I will forever have a love of Nickel Creek.

I was a fan before I saw them in april. NOw I am a fan that drove a total of 2500 miles this weekend to see them and is looking into drivin well over 3000 in September to see them again.
They are so musically talented, but the charisma that is so apparent in their live shows that draws you back.

The whole time I was talking to sara I kept thinking how genuine and personable she is. Maggie and I kept saying that she seemed more like someone we would meet at the coffee shop than this amazingly talented musician that had just packed two very large venues...

OK, ya know I gotta throw in my Nickel Creek stories....

I saw them for the first time in April 2000. My mom had bought their self-titled CD a few months before, and I had actually stolen it from her and refused to give it back. But, I wasn't yet a hardcore fan. Then, I made my yearly pilgramage to Merlefest and got to see them on the main stage during the middle of the day. Unfortuneately, I didn't pay much attention :(. But the spark was definately started.

The next year at Merlefest (2001) I watched them preform Friday night, again on the Watson stage. This time, I paid attention. They were awesome. I will never forget...it was the first time I heard them play the Fox Live and it blew me away. The next day, I bought a Nickel Creek t-shirt and of course, wore it around all day. That night, I noticed that Nickel Creek was playing at a teen dance in the Lounge, so you KNOW I had to go! Well, I was sitting there waiting for them to come on, when someone tapped me on the shoulder and was like nice shirt! Oh My GOSH!! It was Sean Watkins. Then, in the middle of their show, Chris Thile was like Hey everyone, look at that girl's shirt! I thought I was going to die. And I've been a die-hard fan ever since!

Since then, I've seen NC in concert seven times, seen Chris Thile in concert twice, and seen sara and sean watkins in concert three times. I've also met Chris twice, Sean another time, and Sara once. It's true that they are the nicest people in the world. I mean, I went up to Sara when she was with her family at a concert and she didn't even mind! Their music has helped me through the hardest times in my life, and I have been affected so profoundly by their music that sometimes it moves me to tears. They are all so nice, and I guess that's why I get so defensive in the whole new album, selling out ordeal....

I've only seen them once, but plan to again and again and again.

I saw them in a small 900 seat theatre and loved the fact that the entire audience hung on every note they played. They would wait to applaude until the last note played completely faded out. I even heard people gasping at Chris's solos.

They are so comfortable on stage( of course they grew up on it. I read that their original name as kids was The Seldom Clean.) it didn't really feel like they were putting on a show, more like you were hanging out with friends.

I think it's actually really cool that we can all talk about our opinions...I mean, this IS America! I can come off pretty psycho sometimes...but I wasn't actually offended by any of the comments....i just like to state my opinions pretty strongly! I think this message board is awesome...it's so fun to get to talk to all these other NC fans, even if we don't always agree!

i agree, and its not like alot of the other boards where we are at each others throat all the time and really fighting.
