I was just wondering how many of the board people are planning on going.... it would be cool to actually meet some of you.
I'm gonna be in Oxford, MS all week with my family and then we're gonna go up for the concert Friday.

really? cool... I was wearing a blue Bottletree Bakery shirt, how about you?
It was an awesome show... and when I get my pictures back and if they're good I'll post them and a review but I don't have time now... we're celebrating my great-grandfather's 93rd birthday.
also, if anybody taped this show I'd love to have a copy of it because it was Mark's birthday and we sang happy birthday to him.

katioejo. were you standing in the middle right up front? i think i saw you. i was about 8 feet back from the stage on sara's side next to the aisle. that was the best show i have seen of theirs ever! when they busted out the Beck where it's at the place went wild. and also the nirvana, ive noticed theyve done that lately at their shows. singing happy bday to mark was great..and hearing him actually speak to the crowd too!!!
wish i oculd have gone down to starkville.

ok so here it goes... this might get a little long but I always enjoy other peoples long reviews so anyway.
We got there at about 5 and my dad went in and asked the guys right inside the door a few questions and heard NC warming up and they let us come in and listen for a few minutes which was very cool. Then we wandered around and such until about 6 and then got in line. While we waited, we chated with several people around us, Katie (ylkatiejo), and Logan (a 9 year old kid whose mando teacher repairs and takes care of Chris' mando's) and that was fun. Once we got in, we got our place one row of people from the stage and waited. The concert probably started about 8:30. It was absolutly amazing just like all NC's concerts. I really like most of their new songs, esp. Doubting Thomas.
It was sad though because when we were leaving the theater it was pouring and then it started hailing a little bit and so instead of going and waiting by the bus we left. My friend and I did some watercolor paintings that we were really looking forward to getting signed but oh well, it will have to be next time and I guess thats ok since my friend couldn't come.
I tried to write down the setlist on my dad's old handheld but somehow ended up deleting it.... [bang] so here's what we tried to piece back together after the concert since the setlists were already taken.
-Scotch & Chocolate
-Should've
-WYCBD
-Rain
-Smoothie
-Pictures
-Caleb
-Ferdinand
-Trouble
-Ode
-Sweet Afton
-Cuckoo's Nest with Mark Rock Clogging
-Happy Birthday Mark
-Tom with the Raggle Taggle Gypsy instrumental part whatever it's called in the middle and then I think Chris sang some thing about a Magesty at the end of it
-Jacksmith
Encore:
-Doubting Thomas
-Where's it at > The Fox > Drone > The Fox
around one mic:
-Sweethearts on Parade
-a song about Jugling bags
-Lighthouse
then somewhere in the set they did:
-peaberry
-sabra girl
-speak
here are some of the best pictures of 3 rolls:

KJ, ain't no way I'm going to Arkansas. Sorry babe. :)
Memphis isn't likely either, really... 'cause I'm going to Atlanta on the 14th, so I probably don't want to be in Memphis right before that. There's nothing between here and there, is there?

My husband was working for 2 weeks in Louisville before the show producing a rock band, and when he told them he was going to see Nickel Creek when he went home, they thought it was awesome-- they were huge fans. So my hubby drove 7 hours through a driving rainstorm to make it to Memphis in time for the show, bless his heart. When we got there, we saw Sean getting off of the bus, and I really wanted to say hi or good luck, but restrained myself. He seemed to be getting into show mode, and if I were him, I wouldn't necessarily want a random stranger saying hi to me.
Last time at the Daisy, I was kinda far back and standing up the whole time, and it got a little painful on the legs since they played so long. This time, I got there really early, and was going to go up to the balcony to sit, but I decided to go straight up to the front. I'm so glad I did--it was a whole new experience. The best of the 5 times I have seen them. And the leg pain was totally worth it-- after I while, I was so into the show that I just couldn't feel them anymore.
I was literally inches from the stage underneath Sean's mic, and could've reached out to touch them at several points. It was so awesome seeing them so close up while they were playing. I kept watching their faces while they were doing solos, which was really interesting-- Sean closes his eyes and they kind of roll back in his head; Chris sometimes closes his eyes, but mainly watches his fingers and gives looks to people up front like, see what I can do? and how about ...THIS? He's a total showman. His solos on Ode to a Butterfly and Smoothie were unreal. I wish I could know what's going on in their heads when they do their solos, but, when you are at that level, it's probably less about thinking and more about feeling. The ideas just flow out. I have to mention one point, though, when Sean stopped dead in the middle of one solo, and didn't finish his musical thought. He finished it with a little flourish, and they all looked at each other and snickered.
One other thing...during Sweethearts on Parade, Chris did this really simple solo, and then made the rock symbol with his hand-- hysterically ironic. Loved it.
Being so close that I could see the set list on the floor of the stage (which I got a copy of after the show!), I have to say that I almost felt more a part of them and their experience playing than I did being an audience member. It put things in a whole different perspective, in that I got totally annoyed with folks yelling out songs for them to play (in addition to the moron who yelled out play something fast TWICE--once right before they started an encore song, to which Chris remarked Unbelievable to Sean and Sara). When you are in the back of a crowd, it seems like the thing to do, but when you are up front, it's just...not cool. They have a set list which is planned out very carefully with fast, slow, medium tempo songs, and new songs they want to try, and they aren't going to change in the middle of it!! They might, as they did at the very end, add a song (Lighthouse- one mic version), but for the most part, I think it's really only appropriate to yell out songs when they ask for requests, or maybe, during an encore (though they seemed to have that planned out as well).
Anyway, the other thing that I noticed being so close to them was that I was really close to other people who were as fanatic as I am about NC. There was one girl on my right who I thought was going to cry or pass out when they started playing Speak. Another older lady on my right just closed her eyes during some of the songs and looked like she was having a religious experience. And a young girl (maybe someone on this board??) was smiling so big the whole time I thought she was going to burst! It was just so cool to see how their music and presence deeply affects people of all ages and walks of life.
OK-- so when I get home, I will post the set list (close to the one above). For now, it's back to work. Thanks, Chris, Sara, and Sean for a fantastic show.

yeh i couldnt stand the guy over to thew back left who got a little obnoxious during the encore. there were some little girls..and some not so little girls AND guys who seemed to be standing beside themselves with joy! i can't really bring myself to that outward affection level but i do enjoy their music tremndously.
memphislove NC..where ya been? longtime no see!!
