Hi All,
Wasn't that concert AMAZING! Last year, they were a little more low key. But this one was WOW! I think Chris having those 6 or 7 shots of coffee helped, huh?:p
Is anyone one here, that went to the concert, go to their bus to meet them? I would like to meet them and have a pic with at least one of them, but how and where do you go? This is my second concert, so I'm a little new about knowing how to meet them.
Oh, did anybody get any pics that I could buy from you?

Well I went to the concert, and heck yeah that was amazing.
I didn't get to meet with them afterward cause I had to jet off to work right afterward. But I did get to meet them last time they played the Roseland, and to get to their tour bus, you go out the door and take a right. The gated area to the right is where the buses park and that's where they meet with fans.
Best key advise to meeting them: Be calm and talk to them like a regular person.

Hey there! The Portland Concert was totally OFF THE HOOK!! Okay so I might be a little biased since it was my first concert... but even my friend whom I took for her birthday and our other friend agreed that it was just AWESOME!! :D
1. First off, I just want to thank everyone who gave me words of wisdom as to how to make this concert experience the best. You guys are great! :) Seriously, if you didn't help me out, I would have arrived late, left right after the concert, etc..
2. We stayed after the concert only because I heard they come out to meet the fans. I saw the bus when I arrived by bus (hehe) and it's right behind the building, I believe it was on Couch St. or something like that. I don't know if that helped. But we had to wait a while for NC to come out. Sean didn't come out since he was really sick from what Sara told me. But they are seriously some of the most humble and down to earth people. Like Mandofocus said, just don't scream. Hehe I wish I got them to sign my poster too though...hehe! Seriously they are just awesome taking the time to sign autographs and greet fans!
3. I did take pics but since there was a no flash thing going on, my pics didn't come out which is sad because I was front row center :( But just being that close to Chris, Sara and Sean was just amazing! *sigh* :D So close that I had to step away so they didn't step on my hands :D I think the moment Chris came so close I must have been like [bigeyes] Hehe... but DecorDiva76, I can post my blurry pics if you'd like, just might take me a while

...ha ha. That was a mistake my best friend Amanda made last November. So her and I and a couple other girls made it out to the bus before ANYONE else did after the concert.. so the 4 of us teenybopper Chris fans were just chit-chatting by the bus and he opened the door and (she is one of the biggest Chris fans) Amanda screamed SO LOUD. She just - screamed! She was so excited and scared and whatever... He jumped and stepped back and was like WHOA!! .. so then when we were having him autograph our stuff she said I am so sorry I screamed... and then he said Oh! Oh.. it's alright.. ..uh, it made me feel like a rock star! :D

You know, next time they come to Portland, we should meet. For me, it's hard to just talk to someone there, and I was wondering who you all were. I was right in front of Sean, which is were I wanted to be. I wanted to be there last year, but I was just too excited to think where my friend and I could stand. I just walked up to the nearest spot, which was in front of Sara. This year, I walked as fast as I could so my friend and I could stand there, hoping that I wouldn't run anybody down. I felt really bad for him when he started coughing. I just recently had that happen at our church's Easter Program. I had to leave in the middle of the program. He was a good sport coming back for the Encore. Here I am rambling on. I'm just still in awe of that concert, they are sooooo COOL! :D
LostNDazedOne, I would like to see how your pics turned out. Go ahead and send them.
Thanks for the info MandoFocus. I should've asked you about how to meet them before the concert. I don't know if you remember me, but I talked to you last year about the August concert. Where did you stand this time?

Oh I definitely want to see them again if they come through Portland within the next year. I graduate next spring... so HOPEFULLY I can see them again before I leave to go home. I really wanted to meet people from this board as well but I didn't want to just walk up to some random person and ask Are you on the Nickel Creek Info board? They might think I'm a little crazy. :p Anyhow I didn't notice Sean coughing until he mentioned the whole attempting to sing while sucking on a cough drop part. I felt really bad for the guy :( But I was directly in front of Chris pretty much looking like straight up:D . It would be really funny if any of us were right next to each other. I met Derek while I was there though. I have to admit though... with Chris always coming right to the edge of the stage I felt REALLY bad when my flash went off by accident. But that was the best pic I got that night other than the ones I took with them after the concert :D What were you guys wearing? Not to be a stalker but I might have been next to someone on here. I was wearing a red turtleneck sweater and blue jeans :)

No prob. Yeah we did talk about last August's concerts before. This one (I think) was better. I was right in front of Sara again by myself because the 3 other people bailed on me at the last minute. I was about 2 people back from the stage.
I definitely wanted to stick around and say hi to both the band and other .infoers, but like I said before I had to bolt to get to work by 11:30 that night. (it was a vain attempt seeing that I got lost in Portland looking for the I-5 south and was late anyway.

Hey so did my - well not MINE but the train whistle I gave to Sara - make it's way into the show? haha...the suspense is killing me (okay not really).

I totally forgot about your train whistle. I don't remember hearing a train whistle during the performance but I could be wrong.

bummer, oh well, it was sweet that she even thought about using it and told me of her plot to make Chris confused lol

I was the girl in the teal short sleeved polo shirt with straight flipped up hair, right in front of Sean. That sounds weird. Anyway, my hair is normally curly, but I wanted to straightened that day. I don't remember seeing you, LostNDazedOne. I really didn't look that way, except when that one older lady, with the long blond hair, rockin' out. She was there last year too. She's different, but cool.
Now, what's this about a whistle? I never hear anything about a whistle being used in the concert.
I'm sorry about the others not coming with you MandoFocus. I think I would have been a quite alone without anyone coming with me, even if it was a Awesome concert. My friend, that came with me last year, came to this one also. I got her into a little bit of country and bluegrass when we were roommates awhile ago. She really likes them. She doesn't rock out like I do, but I know she had a blast.
Nickel Creek is supposed to tour with Glen Phillips, with other artists, this summer. I hope they'll come to Portland with that tour. I really want to hear Glen Phillips and the different artists that NC works with.

Haha, okay so the night before in Seattle, I gave Sara a train whistle (because I remembered how she's said a couple of times that she can't whistle) and she was saying how she was going to take it, and hide it from Chris and at tomorrow night's concert (which would be portland) she was going to bust it out during Blue Yodel # - I don't know what number haha - because there was something about a train in it, and how it'd surprise him or something because he wouldn't expect it...haha - All I can say is, she's a very good plotter lol

ahh yes the whistle... she tried so hard while she sang Sweethearts on Parade after the 4/2 Athens show. but between her apologising for not being able to whistle, trying to whistle, and everyone being tickled at it all... she was laughing and whistling to much to try.
glad someone helped her out!! :D

I don't remember a song named Blue Yodel #7... did they perform that on Saturday? Hmm I have such short term memory I can't remember the songs they DID play. Does anyone have the setlist from the concert? I'm just curious. DecorDiva76... I was actually right in front of the older lady with the long blonde hair. She kept talking to my friends and I about music and such. Just out of curiousity, was any of you in a group of about 4 girls who came pretty early and was about 3rd in line outside? I'm just curious.
Well here is a pic from the concert... my best one other than the ones I took with NC which is quite sad. The only reason that this actually came out was because the flash accidentally went off. I felt sooooo bad for Chris cause he was right in front of me. [guilty]

LostNDazedOne,
No I wasn't part of that group. My friend and I were about 6 people behind them. When I saw them playing cards, I thought duh, why didn't I think of that!. I brought a blanket for me and my friend to sit on while we were waiting but it ended up being wet where we were standing. Where were you standing in line?
I remember the flash going off. I was like, uh oh, somebody might get in trouble. I'm glad you didn't, since it was an accident.

Hmm now you got me trying to remember who was behind that group in line. I wish I did bring some cards but it would have been kinda hard since I was by myself in line ( I was holding spots for my friends who came late anyway). But I was actually the first person in line. I was wearing the University of Portland hoodie. :D I don't know if that helps.
As for the flash going off, yeah I was pretty worried when I saw it go off... guess I forgot that I had turned on my camera again hence resetting the flash. But it was a nice pic in a way... showed how close I was :) I still can't get over what an awesome concert that was. I seriously can't wait till the next one... too bad they would probably never go to Hawaii. That would be sooo cool but then again Hawaii isn't big on Nickel Creek or bluegrass for that matter. When my friends heard I listened to that kind of stuff well even just some country they freaked out cause that's just unheard of. Hehe :p I don't care though... Nickel Creek is THE BEST!!! :D

WAIT A SECOND, you're from Hawaii? No way if you are, I was born & raised there (my grandparents, aunts & uncles + cousins live there). We're one of the many portagee families (haha)
And I don't know about that though, ska & jazz are pretty big down there, if the Creek goes a little more in that direction (but only if they want to) then they'd probably have a pretty big following. Though the #1 reason why they don't have a big fanbase down there is because I'm not there to bug the crap out of people about Nickel Creek...haha jk

No way!! That's soo cool! Another local Nickel Creek fan eh? I'm taking it that you moved up to Oregon or are you just here for school? What part are you from? I'm from Oahu, Waipahu specfically... up here for school. On a side note, I don't think I could ever imagine Nickel Creek doing ska but that would be rather interesting and I'm sure they could pull it off! :D
Does anyone have the setlist from the show out there? I'd really appreciate it. I figured I'd try and post another pic... it's sorta blurry but one of the better ones.

Oh no, I'm in Washington, but you know, it's the Northwest, and only a couple of hours away from Portland ;)
Anyways, we moved just to move, and then my brothers were here years before that, and I liked it so much I just ended up staying. Though, in a couple of months I'll probably be heading out to the MidWest to nest...with myself? I guess that's not really nesting, nesting normally involves more than one person

LostNDazedOne,
I really don't remember anyone, but I do remember your friends coming late. Well, I shouldn't say that I don't remember anyone. The girl and her mother that was behind me and my friend, was at the concert last year. The reason we remember is because she made googly eyes at Sean last year. It was funny, because they ended up behind us in line again. So my friend had a stradegy to spread ourselves enough so they wouldn't try to get around us. The reason: Last year, they pushed my friend when we entered the doorway and the mother nearly sideswiped me.
Anyway, we ended up where she wanted to be this year. My friend and I were pumped for our accomplishment. :p Next time, we're going to have to come earlier so we can get the same spot, just in case the same girl comes, knowing that she has competition. ;) She made eyes at him again at this concert. All I could do was roll my eyes and laugh. I wonder if she just comes for Sean, not the band. Anyway, we all need to keep in contact for the next concert.

Hey Heather! I can't say that I remember seeing you at the concert but then again I was just so excited all I can think about is how awesome Nickel Creek is. It's funny how you remember my friends coming late. Does that mean we were pretty close to each other? I was standing in front of the older lady who kept singing and such out loud during the show. Are you sure it was my friends who you saw come late? They were 2 girls about the same height, one pretty fair skinned with redish hair and the other with brown hair and pretty skinny (<-- such a nice description huh? ;) ) Anyhow, maybe if I post a pic of me with Chris, someone on here will recognize me :D
UpInYourHeart- Sorry to hear you'll be moving out west.. getting farther and farther from Hawaii huh?

Oh that's okay, it's WAY too expensive to live in Hawaii anyway. A house near my grandparents which isn't even as big, I think (and my grandparents home definitely isn't THAT big either - 2 stories that are set to be like two separate households but each have 2 beds, 1 bathroom, a living room & kitchen) sold for $800,000 [bigeyes]!! But never fear, one day when I find some guy I'm serious about, we're going to go to Hawaii because he'll just HAVE to meet my grandparents (and of course that means strategically planning on a nice little tropical vacation too...haha)
